ER Visit on 09- 29- 2025 I had to take my 93 year old mother…read morethere after she choked on something at the adult daycare center and had to have the Heimlich maneuver performed on her. We took her immediately to the hospital. We arrived at around 2:30 pm. She was triaged fairly quickly and told that beds were full and that they would get to us as soon as possible. During our time there one person passed out, they were taken back fairly fast, as I guess they didn't want to keep cleaning up her puke from the floor again. The second person was losing consciousness and about to pass out and throwing up in the bag, but when her friend just tried to ask how long they would be was told just to sit down and they'll be with them shortly. This all escalated as another guest basically told the guy to sit down shut up and wait his turn then another guest defended this lady after the guy told her to politely mind her own business. Which caused the security guard to come out.  All the while it's 1 hour, then 2 hours , then 3 hours while my mom is still unseen sitting in that waiting room.  Getting cold and finally telling me she wanted to leave. I gave up and told the receptionist that we wanted to leave but she tried to say she would get us back soon but a nurse in maroon scrubs said no don't guarantee her that cause if someone else is sicker then her they will go in first before her. So I signed waiver an left. Shame on you SMC. You need to do better,  you basically were saying that a 93 year old woman who earlier was choking was not a concern of any kind. Is it gonna take someone passing on the waiting room floor for someone to wake up. Plus with the pandamonium and drama with the guests and patients there. It was a horrible experience.  .

From the physicians, to the nurses, and the respiratory therapist he could not have received better care at a larger hospital. I highly recommend this hospital if your family member is ill and in Stillwater..

My son is a student at OSU and went to urgent care 2 days ago with fever, body aches and a horrible…read moresore throat. He saw Dr. Emma Nolan who tested for strep but would not test for flu. She gave him a mouthwash to help with the throat and discharged him. 48 hours later he has progressively gotten worse. High fever, horrible sore throat, cough, congestion- you name it. I called back asking if they would please call in something to help him since he had just been seen and was told he would have to come back in again. They had his entire chart in front of them but would not help us. I basically pleaded with them as he can barely talk or drive he's so sick. They simply said he would have to be seen again. This was an awful experience for him and us- knowing we are hours away from him and the first place he went to be treated would do nothing. Not even a flu test! He was fortunately able to be seen by the campus clinic today and diagnosed with flu. They immediately started him on meds to help him since he is so very sick! Please do not support this urgent care!

I can't evaluate the Medical Center for people that actually reside in Stillwater, Oklahoma. I can…read moredo a fair evaluation for people that reside in towns and cities outside of Stillwater. For the doctors and staff that try to service patients on the two or three days per month that they visit, the results are ABOMINABLE, ABYSMAL, or other similar terms. I have been a patient of two of the three urologists for about three years. They have basically destroyed my urinary system. To start with, the facilities for proper examination are not in the offices outside Stillwater. To have most or all diagnostic instrumentation performed, it is necessary to make an appointment in Stillwater. Anything that requires hospital 0utpatient or Inpatient Services must also be done in the Stillwater Hospital. I went to the local office in Ponca City to have a UTI treated. The doctor failed to look at the documentation I provided on my symptoms, prior medications, a recent urinalysis result and culture, and what I thought might be useful. The doctor did not look at what I provided until I told him that some of the information he requested was in my documentation. He prescribed Bactrim for the UTI. Two weeks later, he said he had prescribed an antibiotic that was resistant to the Staphlococcus epidermidis bacteria. I said that I was aware of the mistake because I had to go to the Ponca City Alliance Hospital ER to use an indwelling catheter to void my bladder and get an antibiotic that was susceptible to the bacteria. Even with my insurance, the ER visit was expensive. I could write a book on the other inept decisions and therapy mistakes made by two of the three urologists that work in the Stillwater Urology Department. I was hospitalized twice, visited the Stillwater Urology offices three or more times for bleeding into my bladder. I was released from the Stillwater hospital while blood clots were still in my bladder which took three indwelling catheters installed by the Ponca City ER to finally clear the dozens of clots in my bladder. The cost was in the hundreds of dollars even with insurance, not to mention the stress, pain, and frustration I experienced. Yet I never failed to be billed for the "services" provided. I may look stupid, but thanks to the overreach of Stillwater Medical into towns and cities within 50 or more miles of Stillwater, we can't attract medical specialists that can actually reside in our towns and cities.
