Visit from pleasant nurse while parent was inpatient in hospital. Was told didn't qualify for their inpatient hospice home. Went back to asst living and died within 1 month. Just wanted to go there and have less pain and be cared for. Very disappointed they would not accept as inpatient. read more

I would not take my dog to Stillwater Hospice. My beloved brother was dying of lung cancer and we were advised to bring in hospice. Unfortunately, we chose Stillwater. From the initial intake on day one, until he died eight days later, Stillwater was horrible. My brother fell and EMTs had to be called and there was no followup from Stillwater to see if he was ok and if the family needed help or had questions. A nurse who came on day 2 never checked on him for five days until her next visit and was "really surprised" at how he had deteriorated. Then the intense pain began and for 41 hours it was horrific. I can never unhear his screams. Calling Stillwater at 4 am because the pain meds were running out, calling back and demanding that someone come help us and they show up hours later. Again, no followup until he died the next morning. I am writing this because I hope no one else suffers with Stillwater Hospice the way that my family did due to their incompetence and lack of care. read more

I want to personally thank the Visiting Nurse Team for your service to my mother the last couple of months. She passed yesterday peacefully in her sleep. Thanks to Alex, Paige and the rest of the VN Team she was in no pain throughout her last few days and lived to be 95 years old. My mom loved you guys and what you did for her. They told us to go to the er to get my mother's ketosis under control then when she was released they would take her back as a client. The hospital released her after they got her sugar levels back in check. They cordanated with still water but when we got home the nurse came out and told us they wouldn't take her back as a client unless she signed a dnr. They knew from the beginning she didn't want a dnr and they waited until we were home with no help to do this. I'm so devastated over this. My mom is in so much pain and the ride to and from the hospital is horrible for her. If we would have know a dnr was a condition of there service we would have stayed in the hospital until we had a place for her . She is now sitting in the er waiting room with stage 4 clearcell renal carcinoma and sepsis waiting for a room. This place it the worst read more

We faced the terrible decisions of caring for our father at home or entrusting a hospice center in his final stages of fighting cancer. From beginning to end, we felt the care and compassion from everyone at Stillwater was mission oriented and top-notch. Clear communications, responsive to needs, and especially caring to our Dad and us as a family. They helped us to understand each step and to know what we might expect as he passed. Over promised and under delivered. My grandmother deserved better than their false promises. They assured us that their goal was to provide comfort care, but my grandma suffered for three days before finally receiving the comfort they promised....just hours before she passed away. Fortunately she was comfortable for at least a few hours before she passed. During the "sales pitch" they also stated that grief counseling or something of that sort, would be available for the family following the death of our loved one. The only contact they made with my mom was to send a survey to her six months later. And when mom didn't submit it immediately they kept sending additional request ls for her to complete it. If they had been as relentless at providing comfort to my grandma in her final days, as they were to try to get their ridiculous survey returned, this review might have been five stars instead of one . read more

Daddy went on hospice two days after I begged the hospital doctor to take him off of Lipitor because I didn't want my dad losing his legs, no doubt because the hospital is doctor owned and they didn't want the liability after he went down. The hospice doctor took him off of his meds in the hospital which meant the bleeding in his urine stopped after eleven days. Once home though,the nurse left after 11:00 at night with say ten meds to pick up the next morning, to be given as needed, prescribed by the director doctor. We have been fighting side effects every since. (No doubt, it helps to keep the nurses hopping and to fill another of their beds) read more

This review will be almost verbatim as the letter that I sent to the Director of Nursing. I left out names and personal information. My mother was a patient at this facility. The beauty and cleanliness of the facility was immediately apparent. The conveniences for the family: from the chapel, to the quiet room, to the recreation room and kitchen facilities, to grief support group information, to the grounds themselves everything was meticulously maintained. This was out-shined only by the staff itself. The receptionist did not point the way to the room, instead she led us down the hallway, introduced the staff caring for our Mom and showed us where the room was located. The entire nursing staff was extremely attentive and answered our questions and call lights promptly. From the moment she entered the facility our mother was treated with the utmost respect and tender loving care. This TLC was also extended to our family. The staff took the time to acknowledge each and everyone of us. They took phone numbers and encouraged us to ask any questions that we may have. They would apologize for interrupting our visits and would explain what care they were going to provide. Each request and phone call was taken care of immediately and always with a smiling face and it didn't matter what time of day or night you called. I never heard a staff member grumble or complain even when it came to working the holiday ( mom was there over Thanksgiving). As a healthcare member who can understand the demands of the job you might think that I would be a little more lenient however sometimes I think this can also make one actually a little more critical. I know what kind of care could and should be provided. While I didn't want to leave my mom's bedside during her Hospice care, I was left with no choice. I could not take an extended amount of time off of work. I felt very comfortable leaving my Mother in the kind hands of this facilities staff members whom I felt would provide her with the same type of loving care that I myself would. My sister was diagnosed with cancer at 52. It was a shock to us all. Fortunately, she was connected with Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home. The care and compassion shown by the staff has been unmatched by any healthcare facility I have been involved with. They were patient, understanding, informative, and very gentle with her. It is never easy to watch a loved one pass away, and their calming presence and care made all the difference. When her pain became unmanageable, they immediately moved her to the Hospice Home. It was there they were able to give her medication to relieve her pain and calm her anxiety about what was to come. They also took us family members aside and answered any questions we had, and provided us with information to calm our fears. I cannot say enough about the level of care and compassion exhibited by the people in this organization. I will never be able to express the level of respect and gratitude I have for these people! We took my husband to the hospice home due to him needing 24hr care. The hospice team was awesome from day one till my husband went home to be with the Lord. They were always there to check if he needed anything and was also there for the family. They answer questions or concerns that we had plus was there to explain the changes that my husband was going thru at any given time. Every night there would be someone to talk with or a shoulder to cry on or just someone to sit with you as you process what your love ones is going thru. They offered reading material to help understand the process of death and how and what to look for as your love one is entering their last days. I remember the early morning of March 4, 2016 when my husband passed away they walked us thru everything that needed done that morning. I remember them all coming and giving me & my sons a hug & words of comfort as we was getting ready to leave for the finale time.
