The menu consists of reheated leftovers night after night. Few ( if any) of the entrees are healthy for people on heart diets. Last Thanksgiving, the holiday meal consisted of a quick turkey sandwich at lunchtime. It is unclear why an expensive assisted living facility offers such a poor kitchen, particularly when Story Point's north location is rumored to have good food. Management at Story Point West is aware of the problem but seems to be unable to fix it. Very disappointing!

We were given…read moreSenior Helper's name by a group that helps find caregivers, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. Our quite elderly mother was in need of home care. In reaching out to Senior Helpers, they were immediately responsive to our needs. They came to Mom's home, checked things out, talked with her and then called to say they were on board with helping us. All of Mom's children are out of state and so it was important to have people we could trust that were there and close to Mom. There were a few hiccups the second week. Senior Helpers were at Mom's home the next day, addressed any issues and assured us that there wouldn't be any more problems, and they were right. Now to the amazing part. Mom became terminal pretty quickly and Hospice was called in. It was determined that someone needed to be with Mom 24/7. A family member was there with Mom by that time but had to leave to go home, out of state. There would be a lapse of 36 hours before a family member would be with Mom again. So what does Senior Helpers offer up? They will stay overnight and all day with Mom until another family member arrives. This was done on 2 days notice. When asking them if they were able to find someone to stay overnight with Mom, the woman that answered the phone (Kim) said that if they didn't have any caregivers available, SHE WOULD COME AND STAY OVERNIGHT WITH MOM! Who, in this day and age, does that? In a time of high stress for us, these people were amazing. I would highly recommend this group to anyone. Nothing/no one is perfect but they come pretty darn close.

Their claim of being "experts in Alzheimer's and dementia care" is one of the biggest jokes in recent history. Alz/Dem patients need consistency and routine. Senior Helpers meets this need with a rotating door of caregivers. Plus, their ever-dwindling staff is just the right size to provide no back-up options in case your caregiver calls off sick. Alz/Dem patients need constant attention and interaction. Senior Helpers more than meets this need with its extensive library of ambient videos of fish and other animals. Your loved one will get all of the love and attention he or she needs with constant reminders from the caregiver to "Watch the video" or "Look at the cute little kitten." Alz/Dem patients need assistance with most of the basic daily tasks. A seasoned Senior Helpers caregiver will always make sure your loved one goes to the bathroom unless he or she resists in any way. Then, you'll come home to soiled pants and other dirty laundry. Alz/Dem patients need to take medication daily. Count on Senior Helpers to assist with this task until your loved one experiences any level of trouble with it. Then, you will be told that any task involving medication requires medical training, which Senior Helpers does not provide. So, what does Senior Helpers provide? If you're looking for a caregiver who's the equivalent of a car pool dummy, then I suggest you give them a call.

My 92yr old friend was in need of help a few hours a week, Joe and his staff made it happen. If for any reason what so ever 1 of the staff could not make it, Joe would come out his self and take care of what needed done. Joe and staff were there with Dave for over a year. Then when Dave found out he had cancer, and there was nothing more the doctors could do, Joe worked with me and others to make Dave's wishes (to go home and die at home) happen. Joe got to work making sure he had 1st, 2nd & 3rd shifts covered. Joe kept me in the loop about everything that was going on with Dave's care everyday. Joe and staff worked with hospice to make sure all of Dave's needs were met. They were all very caring and took care of Dave and helped make Dave's last few week comfortable. The office staff responds quickly to questions, the dining, nurses, and aides pay attention to individual needs, and the activities staff are so creative and attentive! Mom will be moving soon to be closer to me, and it was an incredibly difficult choice for both of us, as she so throughly loves living at Park Place, and I feel so good about her care there. We love the medical staff as well. They have been very attentive, thorough and have cared wonderfully for our mother.
