I was actually scared of them, and that fear became even more real after a horse fell while I was riding in Colombia. So the fact that I now look forward to getting on a horse says a lot about the environment that has been created here. I found A Place for Dreamers during an especially intense season of my life. I was recovering from a traumatic brain injury while also preparing for the bar exam, which meant spending countless hours studying, staring at a screen, and constantly feeling like my brain was "on." Coming out to the ranch became one of the few places where I could genuinely slow down. There is something incredibly calming about putting the books and phone away, getting outside, being around the animals, and focusing on something as simple as the trail in front of you. What started as me trying to become more comfortable around horses turned into something I genuinely looked forward to as a way to decompress and reset. Everyone has been patient, welcoming, and willing to let me build my confidence at my own pace. I never felt pressured to pretend I was more comfortable or experienced than I actually was. Whether you're already an experienced rider, completely new to horses, looking for something different to do around the Houston area, or simply need somewhere to disconnect from everyday life for a little while, I absolutely recommend A Place for Dreamers. I was extremely nervous that my horse might be startled by something and take off or even worse, get on its hind legs and cause me to fall off. Fortunately, none of that happened. All of their horses seem highly trained and well-behaved. It also helped seeing young kids on the horses by themselves. The Adventure Trail Rides are great for almost everyone. Beginners, experienced riders, young kids, and seniors. I've seen kids as young as 5-10 years old (I'm not great at guessing kids' ages) all the way to super seniors adults. Based on your reservation and check-in details, they will match you up with a suitable horse that matches your height and experience level. Most of the staff are friendly and very helpful. For the most part, they made me feel really safe. I also like their system of operation. After checking in at the barn, you select your helmet. Then when it's time, they call you up and introduce you to your horse. Before the trail ride, a staff member will provide you with a brief lesson on how to maneuver the horse and ride safely. After that, they really give you complete control of your horse. The trails offer plenty of shaded areas, which is great for those of us who prefer to avoid the sun's harsh rays. Gotta keep those wrinkles at bay! Lots of parking and parking is free. I had an amazing experience and plan to return so my super senior mom can finally try riding a horse. My only minor complaint is that I didn't receive the appropriate care and training that my friends did because my trainer is deaf. While I understand that he has communication limitations, he was not very friendly or patient. Perhaps management could assign another person to check in on him if they pair him with a beginner or simply just pair him with an experienced rider. I was quite nervous and if I weren't for my friend who is experience in riding, I would have been much more anxious. Note: You MUST wear denim jeans to ride and reservation is required. I missed the exit to turn into to get to the ranch, I may have missed the sign on the road, but my GPS eventually got me there, lol Upon arrival there's plenty of parking. The email has super specific instructions for your arrival. Including arriving 30 minutes before your ride time. I got there about 20 minutes beforehand and that was plenty of time. If you come with a group belive entire party has to be present to check in together. $68 bucks for a group ride rate per person. If you miss the email or forget all of the steps just look for the check in desk and they will go over everything. You must wear a helmet to ride, for your protection. And they offer free bandanas to protect your hair (and for sanitary reasons) from the helmet, that was nice. They match up the horse with each individual, I think based on height and weight. That takes about 15 min to get everyone matched and saddled up for the ride. The trail is covered by trees in the forrest, but it's still hot out in the elements, so be sure to hydrate before and after. Pro's -Quality time to get to know your horse before and after the ride - zero riding experience required, but does help -staff for most part friendly, willing to take pics for you in and off the horse - children, and special needs folks are welcome Cons - possible emergencies will cut your ride short - riding instruction only given to the front of the large group not the back - ride may not start on time, so give yourself extra cushion time if you make time sensitive plans after. Tip not required, bur encouraged. Overall a fun experience. But may do a private ride in future to get more detailed and intimate instructions. Enjoy!

Mind you I have medical conditions I do not smoke or drink alcohol. I was simply judged by my looks I felt and they were just so rude. They kept my big deposit and left us stranded. This is about 60 miles outside of Houston, but worth the drive, if you want a good ride. They are really nice people, and you go ride on their ranch. There were several ponds, cattle, and lots of great views. It's a husband and wife operation. It's a little bit of a drive from Houston, but I think it's probably the best trail ride around. They are also less expensive than the Houston places. Very accommodating to your schedule. Highly recommend, and would go again

Words can't describe our experience with this ranch!!!…read more Darrell was fantastic to help me coordinate this surprise ride for my sisters birthday and my nephews to go for the first time. Our ride was stunning across the fields and trails on the ranch. And they even picked up my dad in the 4-wheeler to feed the cows while we were horse riding so he felt he could be a part of the day (we had purchased feed for the cows ahead). The entire family enjoyed the ride itself, the guides helped us take photos. Next time we would consider staying in the cabins on the ranch. Thank you a million times, it was worth the further drive for the experience itself!!!

The driveway was dark, but the cabins were well lit and don't lock. We stayed in one of the 4 identical cabins. The accommodations were nice and had a loft upstairs with two twins. It is a steep ladder and great for kids, but not for adults. The decor was western and featured some taxidermy. This scared some of the little kids we knew at the wedding. The bathroom and main bedroom were a decent size and the kitchenette had a mini fridge and coffee machine, along with the living area with a small TV and chairs/small couch. The grounds were beautiful and was a true farm. The pool was great for the kids and the waterfall made it feel fancy. I loved the open greenery and the animals that roamed, along with the ponies and goats that you could get close to. There is a covered pavilion near the pool that was a hang out spot for our crew. The wedding itself was in the grass next to the reception venue, since it was too wet to have it down in the pasture. The reception venue was large and had high ceilings. The food was pretty good and the two outdoor firepit areas right outside became a place for guests to step out as well. Parking is in a grass lot so beware the shoes you where, especially if it has rained recently.
