My family and I were in town from Chicago for a wedding, and wanted to do something memorable that we can always cherish before we left. I found A Place For Dreamers on Yelp, and immediately knew this was a rare opportunity for my us to experience an activity together as first-timers. I gave a call, was greeted on the phone very nicely, and all my questions were answered. I felt comfortable and ready to book, so I made the reservation for me, my wife, my 9 year old, and 8 year old. After a beautiful drive, we arrived where we could immediately see the beautiful horses. We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who made sure we were comfortable from the beginning all the way to the end of the experience. He gave us a very clear tutorial, and we were riding before we knew it. The ride itself was pleasant on the trails, and not once did we ever feel uncomfortable or worried about directing our horses. We drove away very happily, and have a lot of memories to cherish. We do not live in Texas, otherwise we'd be coming back very soon. Next time we visit the area, we certainly will stop by again. Roland, our trail guide, was outstanding. He has a loving command of the horses as an experienced horse trainer, who is majoring in animal science. His relationship with the horses made us feel secure. He floated back and forth, chatting with each rider and ensuring that everyone was well. APFD, thank you so much for a great time of refreshing as we prepared to enter 2026. We would definitely recommend APFD to anyone who wants to take in the serenity of nature, disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the day, and needs a whoosah break. The ranch and ride was so much fun, being outdoors with the beautiful horses. It was my first time riding- felt nervous but excited- and the team made me feel at ease. I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. We were in Galveston this year for our annual marriage retreat and wanted to do the private sunset ride. I did all the online stuff which was confusing in and of itself. I received a email with info but that made sure I knew it was not the actual reservation. I tried to call the only phone number provided multiple times. I left messages. I was never able to get ahold of anyone and received no call back. Sadly, we did not ride this year.

We get there and the directions given were not clear I walked miles down the beach until we found the horses. Immediately the woman says she hates her job while I'm signing my waver the guy has a smart mouth I simply asked if we could go fast instead of being nice he got a huge attitude and said "I don't want to be here anyway so you can do it my way or leave" I said I was fine walking but after all that he goes talks to the lady and comes back and says we smell like we smoked so we can't ride! Mind you I have medical conditions I do not smoke or drink alcohol. I was simply judged by my looks I felt and they were just so rude. They kept my big deposit and left us stranded. I waited outside in the unknown for an uber for two hours. Worst horseback experience of my life and I have been on atleast 30 rides. DO NOT BOOK THEM THEY WANT YOUR DEPOSIT THATS IT I PROMISE.

Some people collect spoons -- I go for rides :) Most of the places I found IN Houston either were English barns with just an arena. This is about 60 miles outside of Houston, but worth the drive, if you want a good ride. They are really nice people, and you go ride on their ranch. There were several ponds, cattle, and lots of great views. It's a husband and wife operation. It's a little bit of a drive from Houston, but I think it's probably the best trail ride around. They are also less expensive than the Houston places. Very accommodating to your schedule. Highly recommend, and would go again

Words can't describe our experience with this ranch!!!…read more Darrell was fantastic to help me coordinate this surprise ride for my sisters birthday and my nephews to go for the first time. Our ride was stunning across the fields and trails on the ranch. And they even picked up my dad in the 4-wheeler to feed the cows while we were horse riding so he felt he could be a part of the day (we had purchased feed for the cows ahead). The entire family enjoyed the ride itself, the guides helped us take photos. Next time we would consider staying in the cabins on the ranch. Thank you a million times, it was worth the further drive for the experience itself!!!

I came here for a wedding and stayed on the property. We were flying in and arrived late at night…read more(or should I say early in the morning...3am) and it was no problem getting in as there is a code on the locked gate. The driveway was dark, but the cabins were well lit and don't lock. We stayed in one of the 4 identical cabins. The accommodations were nice and had a loft upstairs with two twins. It is a steep ladder and great for kids, but not for adults. The decor was western and featured some taxidermy. This scared some of the little kids we knew at the wedding. The bathroom and main bedroom were a decent size and the kitchenette had a mini fridge and coffee machine, along with the living area with a small TV and chairs/small couch. The grounds were beautiful and was a true farm. The pool was great for the kids and the waterfall made it feel fancy. I loved the open greenery and the animals that roamed, along with the ponies and goats that you could get close to. There is a covered pavilion near the pool that was a hang out spot for our crew. The wedding itself was in the grass next to the reception venue, since it was too wet to have it down in the pasture. The reception venue was large and had high ceilings. The food was pretty good and the two outdoor firepit areas right outside became a place for guests to step out as well. Parking is in a grass lot so beware the shoes you where, especially if it has rained recently.
