Went here based off the recommendation of our tour guide and I really enjoyed it. The staff was definitely not the friendliest and I don't think they love tourists which in a tourist centric town probably isn't the greatest identity to have. The food was super delicious. I got the pork schnitzel which was really great with the cranberry. Honestly there were so many dishes that looked so good to eat but I wasn't sure what was what. There were different languages available for the menu which was nice, I wish there were maybe some photos to go with them. I also wish the drink menu had other languages. Overall good atmosphere and the food was delicious.

Stiftskeller is an atmospheric restaurant and beer garden serving Tirolean and Austrian dishes in a casual setting. To start, the Tiroler Jausenteller was a plate of assorted Tirolean appetizers including smoked bacon, Tirolean cheese, cold roast pork, horseradish, a spread of lard, and a sausage spread, all served with brown bread. We also had the trio of dumplings, which came with a spinach, onion, and cheese dumpling, each of which was doughy, chewy, and cooked with butter and Parmesan cheese, which added a nice salty flavor. Finally, we had the Mixed Salad as a side, which came with a variety of salads including pickled carrots, pickled cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, greens, and potato salad in an acidic dressing. Of everything we had, my favorite components were probably the sausage spread with bread as well as the salads, but everything was tasty and came at a good value.

More like 3.5 stars. The lady that served us wasn't very friendly. The food itself wasn't bad. The food is super traditional and authentic so if you're not used to that, it might not be your thing. I loved every single dip though. My fiancé enjoyed the beers. So nice stop if you want something very unique while you're in the area.

Stiftskeller offers a super authentic Austrian dining experience with attentive service. While the cuisine wasn't quite to my personal taste, it was hearty and satisfying. I opted for the roast pork with pretzel dumpling and sauerkraut, which, while a bit flavorless for my liking, showcased good natural flavors. If you're in the mood for traditional Austrian fare and appreciate a cozy atmosphere with excellent service, Stiftskeller is worth a visit.

The beer garden is nice with full cover. Good busy atmosphere. A drinking place so the food is decent but not outstanding. Had boiled beef with potatoes and spinach, and salad with chicken breast - both kind of bland, chicken too dry, good portions. Service is laid back - you seat yourself and it could be a while before they get to you especially when busy so you can't be in a hurry. If sitting at a larger table when busy others may ask you to share. Good for people watching as it's right by the palace.

A very boisterous beer hall, with tasty traditional food. We came here cold and hungry after a hike, and we left very satisfied! The beef goulash was right on point, as was the Tyrol tasting platter, which was an assortment of smoked meat, speck, mountain cheese, etc. The waitress had to be summoned a few times, but the food came out quickly.

For super amazing beer and food, Stiftskeller is the place to be in Innsbruck. I'm a forever fan of the beerhall and this one is unique and legit with lots of history on its walls. People rave about the Beef Goulash which was pretty good, but I can only eat a few bites of it before it overwhelms my taste buds. You must definitely try their dumplings. I recommend getting the dumpling sample (3 different ones) and wash it down with a liter of their well-crafted brew. Places like these are what makes Europe so great.

Fantastic! Great ambiance. They take care of locals first so tourists expect to find a Reserved notice on the tables. Even after you sit down. We had an Edelstoff hell and a Vollbier hell. They are hardly distinguishable, but good local beer just the same. Next time, Weissbier. I had 893 Six grilled sausages with sauerkraut and mustard. It was delicious. Best I've had since coming to Austria. She had the Wurstlopf - three different sausages, two different mustards, and a pretzel. She liked it. I only tried the frankfurter and it was tasty.

Enjoyed our meals at Stiftskeller. It was a busy day, because it was raining outside so most people wanted a shelter, and of course it was lunch time. Photos speak a thousand words.

If you are looking for a typical bar/restaurant this is it. The prices are reasonable. The service was fast...and beer was pretty good...although the selection was somewhat limited.

One of the finest meals of my life on a cold winter night. Every Austrian city that relies on…read moretourism has a selection of various restaurants serving the same (nearly identical!) selection of traditional Austrian and Tyrolean favorites. You know the menu before you even see it. Anich is, in my opinion, the very best of them all. Be aware that the food is HEAVY and served in large portions. If you order one of the classic popular meat dishes (roast pork, schnitzel, goulash, etc) you should either be very hungry, prepared to share, or willing to ask for a takeout box. It's a ton of food and it's all stellar. I'm trying and failing to think of something we ordered there that was less than delicious and I can't. The service was not especially fast but I don't mark this kind of restaurant down for that because the meal is supposed to be a slow one. The local wine selection is excellent as is the beer. During a very crowded time you may be asked to share a large table with strangers or so we heard, but in my visits I never saw this happen. It was winter. Summer may be a different story. The building is lovely as are the several dining rooms. If you're looking for a light meal go elsewhere. If you want to be stuffed with dumplings, meat, gravy, and all that great stuff don't go elsewhere.

Mildly jet lagged from a 10 hour flight & 2 hour drive, we found a place we could walk to, as we needed to stretch our legs. This place was hard to find, simply because Google maps was slightly off on how to get there, and the Yelp page had it listed as a hotel. In general, the online review world is much more limited in the Innsbruck area, so let's see if I can help that. Menu here: https://www.gasthaus-bretterkeller.at/speisekarte/ We stumbled into a smoky bar full of a few groups/family's having meals and the general feeling was overwhelmingly positive and happy. With our extremely limited German, and the waitresses limited English, we were able to navigate the menu and get a recommendation easy enough, and got our meal & drinks ordered. New to us, we asked about a bowl of breads/pretzels and were told we could pick and pay for what we wanted. Our meal was fantastic. Not light or the most healthy, but delicious nonetheless. Zwiebelrostbraten mit roestkartoffeln (Steak with Crispy Onions with roasted potatoes): The Steak with crispy onions & potato is apparently a pretty traditional dish, it was indeed a hearty and filling meal, the flavor was definitely great, the meat wasn't the leanest cut possible, but that's fine, to be expected. Steirischer Backhendlsalat mit Kernol (Fried chicken salad): The salad was very good too, fried chicken pieces over a green salad (over a potato salad). Once again, not light, but all tasted great. Not a huge place, but definitely felt like it could have been there for 100 years. The patio had a great view over the valley to the north, but it was a cooler evening so not many patrons out there. Only warning I give, as a visitor from another country, smoking indoors is still very common in Austria, so be prepared to walk into a smoky bar/restaurant/shop, otherwise we absolutely loved our meal here! Had we not wanted to try more places, we would definitely return again!

I, on the other hand (unclear why) ordered a generous portion of their Caesar's salad, which turned out to taste great, but I decided to add the smoke chicken breast on it, which was not the best decision. So I'd recommend just ordering the salad without the add-ons because it's delicious just the way it is. I dined here twice (both dinners). I got the steak as my entree both times. Their menu is limited, but they do it pretty well. The first night I had the tuna appetizer and the second night I had a salad. They were both good, but again, nothing to write home about. I think this is one of the best restaurants in Innsbruck (from what I've heard) and it definitely gets the job done. I would eat here again over any of the other restaurants I tried in town (except Wirsthaus Schoneck but that is a special occasion meal for sure).
