I had the tomato salad starter - the tomatoes were so sweet and the dressing was mind blowing! For my main course, I had the seasonal vegetables that came with a small schnitzel...That whole combination was a big burst of flavors.. so incredibly delicious. Phenomenal gourmond experience. Even though we did not have reservations, the staff was accommodating and personable and attentive throughout the dinner. I counted about 45 guests that they had to turn away due to lack of a reservation. Good for them to desire to maintain excellent service for those who intentionally make this restaurant a destination. The pan fried gnocchi was excellent, blending innovation with vibrant sauces and beautiful presentation. Very balanced flavors that blended on the plate and did not interfere with other flavors. The pork neck tasted tender with a crispy exterior to create a satisfying mouth feel. Well paired with roasted and seasoned potato. The ginger mousse was unique. Fanciest place I've been during our trip. Pretty tasty food but what stood out to me most was the hefty amount of steak tartare that fueled my tartare addiction . My fiancé said this was one of his favorite places to dine in. An elegant and pleasant experience. read more

Exceptional! We were fortunate to get a place on the night we went but it was well worth sitting at the bar given the food and service. The duck was perfection and the pork was flavorful. Looking for something "local" and different. We found it in die Wilderin! This place was busy but they found a spot for us - at a piano, that they had set like a table! It was great fun! The waiter was very helpful describing the menu items, that all sounded good. We started with the cold potato soup.full of flavor and quite good. We had the grilled venison and a pork dish. Both were delicious and packed with flavor. Just perfect after a long day of touring the region. If you're in Innsbruck, we would highly recommend you try this place! read more

Die Wilderin is in the old town part of Innsbruck, tucked away in one of the smaller streets. It's a nice, small, farm-to-table restaurant that uses locally sourced ingredients. This place was recommended to me by my Airbnb host and I am glad I took her suggestion. The employees were all very friendly and helpful with suggestions for food and beverages. I chose the pot roast made from horse, which I have never tried in the past. The pot roast was perfectly tender and flavored. I asked the bartender for a suggestion of the local beer (I don't remember the name, unfortunately) and it paired well with the roast. My battery died, so I don't have a picture of my dessert. To top it off, the bartenders (plural) offered free shots to go with dessert. When I am back in Innsbruck, I would make sure to stop by again. read more

Great little place in the heart of old town Innsbruck. Where most of Innsbruck is geared for swarms of tourists, this place is the real deal with great food, a creative menu, superb service (we had a small ad hoc wine tasting for free at the bar to find the "right" wine for us) and fair prices. I had the horse steak and my wife had the pork which were both delicious. The roast beef appetizer was amazing too. I can only recommend that place to any foodies or people who want to flee the touristic parts of the city. read more

This review is way past due. We went to Wilderin back in May 2015 and had a great time. Food, drinks and service were all great. We had a lovely server who helped is pick our dishes and pair them with delicious Austrian wines. A jazz band played on the first floor and their music made the whole dining experience unforgettable. We ate at Die Wilderin for dinner when we were in town for a few days. We got a reservation ahead of time, which helped - the spot was pretty packed on a Saturday night. It has a nice ambiance, with low lighting and low ceilings across both floors to give it a cozy, lodge-like feel. Despite the ambiance, the service was a little cold and abrupt, with the English-language skills a bit less than other spots in town. That said, the food did come out quickly, and the beer selection was alright, with a few craft beers available. The food is advertised as 'farm-to-table', but judging from the first course, it was not a good first impression...I went with some kind of cod carpaccio, which was not fresh at all and not well-flavored either. It's hard to remember the last time that I ate raw fish that inspired such little confidence as a dish. The moral of the story that I took away? Perhaps it's not better to eat fish in Austria...that said, the other dishes were noticeably better. My wife had a barley-based risotto that had more texture and was a bit less creamy than the usual risotto, as well as a faint whiff of curry. My entree was the beef, which was quite flavorful, if a bit smaller than I had expected it to be. The beef was cooked just right - plenty of succulence in its own flavor without needing a rich marinade. I enjoyed the atmosphere a lot at Wilderin, but the food was a bit more of a mixed bag. I would definitely recommend staying away from the seafood courses here, with everything else being quite a bit better. With reasonable prices, it's a solid experience that is worth a visit in Innsbruck's old town. read more

Although the place was fully booked, the friendly staff still managed to squeeze us in at a small table with some lounge chairs. The waitress then sat with us and translated the entire menu (we don't speak German). Everything on the menu is apparently locally sourced and everything we tried (3 appetizers and two entrées) was fantastic. Although I live nearby this place since almost 4 years now, I have never been there until one week ago. And, to keep it short, it was absolutely amazing: The staff was very friendly, the food, made from local ingredients, exceptionally well done (small menu, but our group tried almost everything from it and every single meal was really great), the prices are more than fair, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the interior nice. So, yeah, I can really recommend this place and soon will stop by again with friends and family. read more

We got there late after spending the night in Urgent Care. The kitchen was almost closed, but they had a few items still available. I ordered the barley risotto with a glass of Pinot Noir--both were excellent. My husband ordered the pasta with a bull mince sauce, somewhat similar to Bolognese, and a local draft beer. Both were also excellent. The service, though a bit slow by American standards, was good, too. I'd enthusiastically recommend this place to friends and family that find themselves in Innsbruck. read more

Die Wilderen is in Innsbruck's old town and offers a small menu of traditional Austrian dishes. My German girlfriend described the cooking as a refined version of an Austrian grandmother's. The staff were very friendly and also spoke English (for me). If this restaurant were near where I lived I would happily recommend it: it's not just vacation good, it's good. I think everyone else in the place was a local. Don't let the blue neon light behind the bar scare you away as you look in from the street. The décor is fine once you're inside. read more
