The Lazy Italian - Chicken Schnitzel & Spaghetti Bolognese combo, Spaghetti marinara, & garlic bread. So good!

I enjoyed the combo with schnitzel and spaghetti bolognese. The bolognese sauce was full of meat and flavor! We also enjoyed the special Spaghetti Marinara which was chocked full of fresh seafood. Yum! Even the garlic bread impressed us. If someone in your party can't decide on an item, the restaurant next door (Mongers) is owned by the same people. So you can order from either place and eat where you'd like! Both places are BYO wine & beer.

Tucked away down Bay Lane, the Lazy Italian sits right next door to its sister fish restaurant…read more Bay Lane can be a lot quieter than restaurants on the main strip and therefore if queues are long at the main hang outs you may well find space at The Lazy Italian. If you don't fancy Italian, you can sit at the Lazy Italian tables and order from the fish restaurant right next door as they are owned by the same company. You could go all out and have a mix of both fish and Italian. It is not a big place but my experience of it was quite good. The Lasagne had a very rich tomato sauce and the Mediterranean Salad that I ordered with Chicken was very well sized and priced. My only piece of feedback was that the chicken was super salty. You can buy non-alcoholic drinks with your meal or BYO preferred alcoholic meal matcher. Pleasantly surprised at this place when the queues for the other restaurants on the main roads were crazy (it was a lovely day inbetween Christmas and New Year so Byron Bay so it was high season and chocka full of visitors).

If there are only two of you, leave now! This place was designed for bigger party (more money, i…read moreguess), not for couples. The nicer tables are all for four, couple tables are sidelined to stranger spaces. We booked, n arrived early, but at that point our reserved table was already given to someone else (a party of 4). The waitress immediately apologized n got the maitre dhotel. He arrived n immediately said no such thing happened, we should just go n wait in the bar. Then we were allocated to the couple area...a long soft bench w four narrow tables. The chairs are so low that one person will be 2 inches taller on one side! The tables were also seated next to one HUGE party of two tables w very loud n happy guests. While we cramped on one side, there was so much space on the other end of the party table, n i just dont understand why not move the party table a bit further down. We should have lefted at that point, but it was after 8 30 on a Sat, n we didnt know where else to go. To be fair, the food was good, 4-star. But seriously, i could hear a word my partner said across the table. Thd waitress didnt evdn bother to introduce the daily because she had been shouting all night long. Couples? Just leave. Apparently this restaurant doesnt care for you.

It's laid back Italian and you can get big boisterous tables eating family style or simpler smaller tables either way this place is lively! There is no spaghetti and meatballs, but you get more modern Italian/Mediterranean dishes like rare kangaroo with tuna mayo or octopus with fried shoe string potatoes. I enjoyed most of my dishes but was only so so on the creamed broccoli with orecchiette. The cocktails were phenomenal and more unique compared to other bars. The Italian wine selection included several by the glass that were affordable and I know that's hard to come by in Australia. The service is quite good and hospitable (the Italians really know how to make you feel welcome). The indoor/outdoor seating was perfect for a little sophistication without being stuffy ... after all this is Byron Bay.

Amazing pizza. Equally, if not more amazing service. Our waitress (feeling guilty for not catching…read moreher name) was a lovely lady from England who has spent 18 years in Australia in beautiful Byron Bay. Her attentiveness, friendliness and seemingly genuine interest in my partner and I (we were on honeymoon) made it a pleasure to dine in. The pizza menu is varied with a few interesting options such as the prawn pizza with sliced banana. I wasn't feeling that adventurous but my Mullumbimby (vegetable) pizza hit the spot. Massive meat lovers for my partner which did not skimp on the meat. Both well topped with the best crust to filling ratio I've ever seen. We ordered a medium but a small each would have been better. We ended up taking the leftovers home; and by home I mean they made the road trip back the next day. My partner wasn't wasting them. The garlic bread appeared house made. Rustic... but what it lacked in appearance it made up for in flavour. A bit charred in spots but I Ioved that as well as the crispy sesame seeds. We were tossing up drinks. It was our last night with far too many drinks throughout our stay. Both were craving a coke but as seems to be the case in Byron, it's Pepsi or else! I suggested the homemade punch which turned out to be the nicest drink of the week. Pineapple and orange juice with passion fruit. Refreshing for the end of a warm day with no chance of hangover. Delicious!!
