Party of two in the area, decided to get a quick bite before an appointment so we came here around…read more1 PM during the week (wasn't busy at all, just a few couples). We were greeted instantly and got to choose where we sat. We ordered Tasmania Black Mussels as a starter and they seemed like they were frozen since they were all shriveled up and soggy, also a lot of broken shells and air tight mussels that would not budge. As an entree my partner ordered a Vegetarian Pizza and I ordered a Caprese Salad but was given a Caesar Salad instead. I didn't bother to correct the order because we were already running a little bit late by time we were served. The Pizza was soggy and what can I say, I had a Caesar Salad and I was hungry. So I ate it. On this day they had a special Asian inspired martini which I could NOT pass up since it had lychee and lime, I really enjoyed it! *I would recommend this place for drinks rather than food because unlike the martini the food was not up to par.

Maybe it is because it was late and takeaway but the friendly and prompt service does not make up for three pizzas with overcooked toppings and undercooked bases. The garlic prawns great sauce but they really should say normal to small prawns in the menu as really my local supermarket has bigger prawns than those served. Good luck with new management hope things improve for Isabella's on Griffith street Coolangatta. Ps the garlic bread was great.

The service was good and the waitresses were really attentive but I think for the price it was a massive let down. The miso soup was good. The beef tataki was prepared earlier and my partner said it had a roast beef taste to it. The edges were cooked but raw in the middle and cold. Fridge cold. We shared the prawn and vegetable gyoza which tasted like the pastry was stale or suffered some serious freezer burn before being fried. The inside was a bit mushy. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good had no crunch or crispy to it. I had the Teppan which is tofu and vegetables in a sizzling plate. It came out sizzling and 2 of the tofu pieces were soft and nice and the other 2 were a bit hard and dense. Flavour was acceptable. Way too much onion and not enough other vegetables. My partner had the teriyaki chicken which had large chunks of chicken.. cooked well enough.. the pieces were large so there wasn't enough marinade to go and it was more chicken to marinade ratio... Both our rices came out tepid almost cold instead of hot so I don't think it was fresh. Some of the rice chunks were hard. I think especially at any kind of Asian restaurant. The one thing that should be excellent is the rice and it wasn't. Actually that's probably a good way to describe the evening... it just felt not fresh and I think for a $70 dinner for two, no drinks. The meals should be at least that. We didn't order from the train just the set menus. I definitely won't be coming back and if you come from Melbourne where the Jap food is pretty much always good and at this price point great... be prepared to be let down!
