I'm gonna do it my way, it'll be alright If we burn it down…read moreand it takes all night It's a slow burn, yeah (Kacey Musgraves) I remembered the Pepper Palace logo from somewhere. Then it came to me I had been in one of their stores in Myrtle Beach, probably at Barefoot Landing. This new store at the Lee Premium Outlets joins their other 60+ stores located in similar shopping centers spread across North America. So, whether you like foods that will give you a slow burn or a massive tidal wave of scorching heat, you will love it at the Palace of Pepper. Hot sauce, barbecue sauce, wing sauce, salsa, pickled veggies, jellies, dry rubs, and more -they know how to do Scovilles right. I went in for some salsa but declined to buy any when I saw they ran between $10 and $15 a jar. I didn't want to walk out empty handed, so I settled for a small bottle of Chipotle Mustard and a jar of Chili Starter. The mustard was great, I had some on a turkey sandwich today and it had a ton of flavor and a distinctly slow burn that was great. I made the chili on today, and just had to add ¾ a pound of ground meat and a jar of corn black bean chili. It was great, excellent flavor and plenty of heat. I enjoyed walking around and gawking at al of the fun packaging boasting of their nuclear heat levels. Some day after COVID-19 is a thing of the past, I'll look forward to returning for the hot sauce and salsa samples I remember from South Carolina.

Convenience is definitely present, as they are open early and late (till midnight). The coffee is usually very fresh, and is surprisingly good. The regular coffee in the Bunn pot is the only one I have tried, as I do not care for flavored coffees. The beans are good, the roast is good, and I have made it almost a daily ritual to get it. Emergency provisions such as eggs, bacon, gallons of milk, chocolate chips, flour, sugar, butter, etc. are available. Cat and Dog food, Motor oil of course, a wide assortment of chips, candy, some hot food, sandwiches and pastries are available. The local papers are almost always well stocked. What makes an enjoyable experience here is the fact that the people working there are just really nice people. Some different employees come and go, but they never hire nasty or surly folks. So the vetting process for being hired must be pretty good. Kudos to the management (and the staff!)

It also didn't hurt that the store is only 1 mile from my house, and I received discount coupons in the mail. Plus the register receipts have discounts too. The entire left wall of the store, and part of the back, are devoted to refrigerated and frozen items. Other aisles have grocery items, and several aisles are seasonal (currently stocking Christmas items). As usual, some items will be better priced/deals than others. But sometimes a product will have an additional discount if you buy 2 of the item. The employees are friendly and polite and helpful. I know that stores like this can start going downhill over time, fingers crossed they can keep up the good work here.
