But I did finally stop by for some of the famous desserts/ ice cream. Service was great. The young man at the service window made a number of very helpful suggestions, especially after I mentioned that I've begun to show a bit of dairy sensitivity if I have ice cream late at night. So I tried the nondairy Dole pineapple whip in a cup. It was delicious. My friend had a double scoop of chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone. That was delicious, too. I tried some. There were many customers. Since Guptill's is widely considered a Capital Region institution, I'm slightly embarrassed that I haven't visited before. The ice cream stand is large and clean. The staff is young and courteous. I can't explain why I haven't been to the rink yet since I skate pretty well. Perhaps I've just been busy. Still, this was a good start. Hopefully, I will get around to doing some roller skating in the coming weeks. It might be a good way to beat the heat since Guptill's is air conditioned during the summer.

It's creamy with the peanut butter flavor but not overwhelming. The cone does seem to be a little small for all that ice cream, so don't dilly-dally too much eating it in warm weather. Since some other parlors near me have closed, Scoups has become by default the closest ice cream spot to me that makes their own hard ice cream. This is not a bad thing. Had decided on a ham club and was totally surprised. It was a more than respectable sandwich stuffed with what seemed like a home cooked ham and plenty of it. It was also stuffed with plenty of bacon as well. A perfectly tasty porky goodness Sammy. The downside is that it was freezing cold. We both agreed some heat would have made it a more pleasant lunch. Service was great with plenty of parking, but adding some heat would have improved the meal.

Today I had the Chocolate Overload Sundae with Moose Tracks ice cream. It came with delicious hot fudge, little peanut butter cup pieces in the ice cream, Oreo crumbles, whipped cream, sprinkles, a cherry, and even a fun size Hershey bar on top. So good. While I was there the people in line in front of me got slushes that looked very much like bomb pop flavors. I bet there's awesome! Almost changed my choice but I stuck with my original sundae choice. I've also had their brownie sundae in the past, and that was excellent too. Trust me when I say a regular size is already pretty large. The large is enormous. This is probably my favorite ice cream place in the area, with Kurver Kreme right behind it. She explained the flavors and answered our questions. Unfortunately she was also degraded, demeaned, and micromanaged by the owner the entire time. The owner yelled at her upon our arrival and told her to "look busy" even though she was clearly about to serve us. The owner then made fun of her for saying the wrong term when asking if we wanted our ice cream in a cone or cup and humiliated her. It was so hard to watch and the environment was so hostile because of the owner. When we asked if they accepted tips, the owner was extremely rude and condescending toward us, saying they did not accept them. Lastly, when the poor girl was handing me the chance, the owner was forcing her to count out every coin and then counting over her. It was so odd. I will never go back and I will be sharing this experience with every friend and family member I know. Let this be a lesson to the owner to treat people, especially her employees, with KINDNESS.
