I had a great experience with Orange County Pool Services and Jake…read more I originally contacted them on a Tuesday for help troubleshooting an older Pentair pool heater that had stopped working, as well as replacing a failed Pentair color-changing LED pool light. Jake was able to come out just two days later on Thursday. After inspecting the heater, he found significant corrosion and evidence that there had apparently been a rat nest inside it at some point. The heater was more than 10 years old, and he took pictures and clearly showed me what he found. We agreed that replacement made more sense than trying to repair it. Jake had a new Jandy heater and Pentair pool light delivered the very next day, Friday, and came back out on Saturday to install everything. The entire process was quick, efficient, and went very smoothly. We did run into an unexpected issue with the new pool light. My pool is older, and the original installer had installed the light niche at the wrong angle. The old light wasn't directional, so it had never been noticeable, but the new Pentair LED is directional. Because of the niche orientation, the new light initially produced a narrow beam across the pool instead of properly illuminating the whole area. This was completely unrelated to Jake's installation and was a pre-existing issue with the pool. As soon as I let him know that the light coverage wasn't right, he worked on finding a solution and came back out to correct the problem. I'm very happy with Jake's responsiveness, communication, and service. From the initial diagnosis through installation and then taking care of an unexpected issue afterward, he was great to work with. I would definitely call Orange County Pool Services again for any future pool equipment or service needs.

I'm very grateful that he's being honest and not taking us for a ride. It's rare to find honest people now a day and I'm truly appreciate his honesty.

I would not refer Nick Young Pools. Please read this, and I'll give you a fair assessment of his…read moreservices. I had never owned a pool before, so it was difficult for me to understand what constitutes good service. I inherited a company that Nick worked for when we purchased our home. That company decided to stop providing service, and Nick opened his own pool service company. I believe I was one of his original clients. After having limited pool-related issues before contracting with NY Pools, I began having problem after problem once Nick became the main man. That could be just bad luck...but I have my suspicions. Pros: Nick is very experienced and knowledgeable about pools. He takes the time to explain the issue. Nick is also willing to text during off-hours to discuss pool-related issues. Cons: Nick communicates poorly. I asked on numerous occasions for him to simply let me know when he serviced the pool. He may have left a note once or twice in two years. Despite spending thousands and thousands of dollars on pool servicing an maintenance, NY Pools suspended my service for "non-payment" without even telling me. I assumed our cordial relationship and texting meant he could talk to me, but I was wrong. The reason for the non-payment is that because you have to pay on Zelle or Venmo. Auto-Pay is not an option. If a normal pool servicing day fell on a holiday (e.g., Labor Day), Nick would take the entire week off from servicing with no notice. This is understandable for Christmas or Thanksgiving, but this is not okay without a discussion. Nick is not personable. I referred him to a neighbor, and she was not impressed with his demeanor. Nick can deny all these things if he wants, but they're the truth. A different neighbor still uses Nick, but he's not for me. Maybe he's your cup of tea. I wish him the best. FYI, my new company takes pictures, send emails, tells me the levels every single time they come over. You do not have to settle for less. I found out the hard way.

During routine pool service at my home, their employee opened my main water valve - that was closed for a good reason - without my permission while I had stepped away to Home Depot to buy a shower cartridge. When I returned, water was pouring into my garage. My home flooded from the top level down. One week before Christmas, EVERY room was water damaged and had to be demolished. When it happened, the employee called the owner on speakerphone and said he had made a "huge mistake," explaining what he had done. The owner responded, "Do not tell this to the lady," not realizing he was on speakerphone. That alone says it all. Instead of coming to assess the damage, he claimed that he was out of town and that he could not recall the name of his insurance carrier. From that moment on, they never showed up, neither the owner BOB, neither his son ADAM. I was left alone dealing with the consequences. What followed were more than 4 months of construction, two years of stress, a $5,000 deductible loss, and additional out-of-pocket expenses. Because I had to file through my own insurance, my homeowners policy was not renewed. In California, if you have a single water claim -- regardless of fault -- it is extremely difficult to obtain new coverage. To this day, I have been unable to secure a house insurance, and my mortgage has increased by $600 per month due to this lack of coverage. This experience has had serious financial and personal consequences for me. I have been fooled by their fake smiles and I regret it every day. Now you know and it is up to you to decide who you want to give your business to.
