ONE STAR -- WOULD GIVE ZERO IF I COULD Avoid EMERGORTHO at…read moreall costs -- especially if you're truly in pain or need compassion. I was referred to EmergoOrtho by a fill-in PCP due to a herniated disc compressing nerve roots. I already had an MRI before the appointment but was never told I needed to bring the images. When I arrived, they said they could access them. I paid a $50 copay, only to be told I needed another X-ray. The doctor came in for barely two minutes, said a steroid shot would be faster than a pack, then immediately left. I was told it needed to be scheduled and would take about a week. Meanwhile, I was told to just take Tramadol and do PT. No one followed up. I had to call them. Eventually, they set the appointment for August 5 -- nearly two weeks after my first visit. I took time off work, and had my wife do the same to drive me. But on August 4 at 3:30 PM, I got a call from Ruby saying they needed the MRI images. I asked why, since they claimed to have them last time and even did a new X-ray. She said she'd check. 20 minutes later, she called back and said they couldn't get the images from radiology and would have to cancel my appointment. Cancel -- after all that pain, waiting, time off, and insurance approval. I asked why the appointment was canceled when it was scheduled for the next day and I had done everything on my end. She was completely indifferent. I personally called the radiology provider and got through right away. They sent the images and I also drove to pick up a CD copy just in case. I called EmergoOrtho back immediately asking not to cancel my appointment. I was told Ruby was the only one who could help me. The woman said she'd have Ruby call me back that day. It's now 8:30 PM and still no call. Let me be clear -- I am a disabled veteran, in constant pain, with numb, burning fingers, unable to sleep or function properly. I served this country, and this is the level of care and compassion I get? You all should be ashamed. You clearly do not care about patients -- only copays and procedures. You dragged me through weeks of appointments, calls, and chaos, only to leave me in pain and cancel without cause. This will be the last orthopedic group I ever deal with. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. You failed me. You failed your duty. Close the doors.

Dealt with both for years and was only able to go to the gym for 4-8 weeks before pain would stop me. Finally, following other recommendations I made an appointment w/ Bull City and while the diagnosis of the elbow conflicted with what a doctor had previously told me I decided to just go with it and trust them. Turns out they had a much better understanding than previous medical professionals I'd seen. Through treatment and the exercises they gave me to do, which were different than doctors recommendations in the past, I actually saw steady improvement. There were setbacks here and there as I pushed myself in the gym but their physical therapists guided me on "good pain" vs "bad pain" and we adjusted as we went. Now through weeks of sessions with the team at Bull City PT I'm on month 10 of lifting and have put on 20+ pounds of mostly muscle. I didn't think this was possible without surgery. Highly recommend anyone in pain or being held back by an injury at least get a consultation - could change everything.

I have now been seeing Paul for my back and hip pains for many years. I appreciate his thoughtful analysis of my situation and his personalized formulation of exercises to alleviate my pains. He has helped me understand the science behind Feldenkrais and the interplay of my skeleton, nerves, and muscles. Part of the therapy is developing a kinesthetic sense/body awareness so that you can compare movements on one side of your body versus the other side. Paul is expert in directing your attention and asking the right questions. As Paul is also a licensed physical therapist, my appointments are partially covered by Medicare and my secondary health insurance. My sessions at the moment are via video telemedicine and they have been an excellent resource for care in my home. Paul's experienced eye catches movement disfunction. Recently he asked me to direct my computer's camera to an area where I could walk. He watched. And I returned to converse with him via my computer screen. He said, "I'm going to show you an exaggerated version of how I saw you walk." He proceeded to walk with a distinctly hunched over old-person's walk, and then he said, "I could see you beginning to walk like this, so let me show you exercises you can do to counteract this tendency you are developing." I don't want to move with pain, or walk like an old person. I rely on Paul to make this possible.
