As a patient with questions, Lerchin will talk over you, giving the warm impression that you're wasting his time. The main nurse/secretary never fails to talk back in an unprofessional childish tone. A doctor's office has a foundation based on human interaction and mutual respect. Of how impolite and naive the staff is, Lerchin's office completely lacks this key foundation. This leads me to conclude that this is the worst dermatologist in Utica, MI. Now, as a knowledgeable and self respected adult, I will never face those miserable souls again.

My family has gone to Dr. Lerchin for many years, and always found him and his staff pleasant and informative. We usually have short wait times, even though he is very busy. Today I had a mole I was very worried about and he saw me the same day I called, and in detail explained exactly what was going on. His technique of having his assistant take all the notes as he rattles off locations of blemishes, using medical terms seems a bit hard to follow, but I just wait until he completes his report, and he seems genuinely happy to answer any questions, even seems to like the interest I take in his profession. Perhaps interrupting him during his study would be rude, maybe that is what happened to the first reviewer. Also today I had questions about my wife's bills, as BCBS is never very clear about what the bills mean, and the staff explained it all thoroughly. I was happy to hear that these were ones we already paid. So that is my report, a customer that has been satisfied for years, the kind that probably don't write in these blogs. BTW, the last reviewer expresses him(her)self very well for a young person, so I believe he(she) really was not happy, and I am sorry for that.

I also told her how rude she was being. That got the office manager involved which was no help. The doc came out and was no help and then refused to see me. RIDICULOUS! The childless cat lady behind the desk is ruining that business. GO ELSEWHERE! Update - I went to Rochester Dermatology, received pleasant professional service, my insurance card was all they needed, no credit card on file needed! I waited nearly an hour for the doctor to come in and could hear him talking and laughing outside the door. After looking at my back once, Dr. Buatti told the assistant to prescribe different medications I said didn't work for me. He continued talking over me, glaring, and in the end prescribing things I again, told him did not work. But worst of all, their sign in questions had no where for me to tell them I am transgender, and I believe I was targeted for this. I put female on the intake form because I'd be asking them to look. Both the assistant and Dr. Buatti seemed amused and condescending when they asked why I put that. When we talked about my HPV, after the assistant told me I could leave my underwear on, he stayed in the room watching me when he told me to take them off. This was extremely uncomfortable and I had to ask for privacy. When they came back in, he used the cryo gun across the entire surface of my privates. It was not targeted to actual lesions, it was freezing the entire area. I was in a significant amount of pain for a week and later saw burn marks. I left humiliated and disgusted. No further treatment was offered. Extremely unprofessional and I have warned against this place to anyone looking for a dermatologist.

Having managed this condition for 17 years, I provided a transparent history of treatments that have failed. Completed all necessary request he asked of me blood work, etc. Despite this, Dr. Nelson disregarded my history and prescribed the same ineffective medications. Furthermore, I have waited over seven weeks for a specific medication discussed during my visit. Despite following up with assistants and the practice manager, I have received no resolution and was told she has to side with the doctor. This was a complete waste of my time. Requiring me to take time off work for repeated visits--only to wait two hours in the lobby without receiving the necessary care is unacceptable. So if you have a serious condition and you are seeking effective care, don't go here.
