Hello, I don't…read morerecommend Dr. Heather Orkwis based on my experience. It all started when I was having an issue with my skin after using a product. Dr. Orkwis prescribed me a few medications that didn't resolve the issue. I went back to her and requested additional treatment until we can find the right meds that work. Because with dermatology patients respond differently to the same medications and treatments can vary based on ethnic skin type. Dr. Orkwis advised me that she felt that the meds should've worked and that she wanted to do a skin test. I didn't want to jump to a skin procedure because I know it was some correlation between the product and my skin reaction but I didn't know how to solve it. The next thing I know she left the room and sent another employee in the room to tell me she wasn't going to prescribe me any medicine. Which I thought was unprofessional. I had a couple issues and because I didn't consent to invasive skin test she wouldn't help me any further. I wasted an office visit fee with her it was a useless appointment. As an adult I have the right to be involved in my treatment it's my body. Also, invasive test on skin normally will leave permanent scarring which is why unless it's absolutely necessary it shouldn't be performed. Afterward, I scheduled an appointment with a different physician at a totally different practice. I'm so glad I did. The doctor was very nice, diverse and attentive and listened to my concerns and took the time to ask intelligent questions to investigate the issues. The new doctor gave me an exam and figured out my skin issue. I was actually allergic to the product I was using on my skin throughout the year and I didn't know it. The doctor then advised me that the few meds Dr. Orkwis prescribed me shouldn't have been prescribed and that's why they didn't work. I was being treated for issues that I didn't have. New doctor wrote a prescription for me to apply and within 2 weeks my skin issue was resolved. That's why choosing the right doctor is so important because you don't want to simply give your insurance card/ alternate method of payment for someone to make a profit. You should be able to get assistance when visiting the doctor that's what a doctor is suppose to be there for helping and welcoming all patients. This isn't just me with those concerns. Previous reviews from other patients that I seen Dr. Heather Orkwis had similar concerns in past reviews. I would strongly advise you to get a 2nd opinion before allowing her to perform any invasive skin test/ procedures on you. Unless, you know without a doubt you need it. Do your research and try to choose a good dermatologist who actually cares about all patients and genuinely wants to help without quickly giving up on you. I hope this review helps. Have a wonderful day.

They only removed two which is not what i requested, just indicating not necessary, but who is the patient? Told to come back after 30 days for free touch up if not resolved. My nurse practitioner went out on maternity leave and there was a charge for services as a 'different' provider was to see me. Wait, same office so why should the patient be on the hook for new charges concerning the previous services rendered? But here is the rub, first visit only removing two skin tags pushed the billing allowance up. First tag removal fee and 2-15 (some limit) removals another fee. Only removed two skin tags to increase the client billing fees with minimum services. On the second follow-up visit which was supposed to be free on touch-up turned yielded new additional changes, new provider (NP still on maternity leave) so have to pay. While at the counter checking out already irritated on new provider charge, an office staff member was instructing the billing person to bill me the maximum charges allowed as this patient was credited on first visit for nearly all the office charges due on negotiated rates. Would appear that billing practices is a concern over patient care. I will not be recommending nor returning back to Grekin Skin Institute/Advanced Dermatology in Shelby Township or other locations.

If a business has been permanently closed, Yelp deleted business and My review, therefore My count is accurate for All Reviews!) ** April 29, 2026, Wednesday My 5 star Review is long overdue for this Medical Group. I can certainly say being a patient for 8 years, that Dermatology Specialists of Shelby has always shown and given Me wonderful care in My comprehensive skin treatment. Dermatology Specialists of Shelby started in 1981 and has been treating families and pediatric patients with the best quality care and treatments for over 40 years. They used different machines and techniques for careful skin treatments. I've only received Freeze treatment based on skin tags or moles. I had a skin lesion cut out for biopsy on my forehead temple area and it was not cancerous, being called keratosis. I am a patient with Andrea Rosik, M.S., PA-C who is board-certified giving high standards and compassion in treating Me, plus never a rushed appointment since she will explain what she thinks is important. I have seen her for freezing of skin tags or moles. Then in November for My yearly skin screening after those Summer months in the pool and outdoor in the Sun. She was voted Michigan Dermatology PA of the year in 2020 so belated Congrats to Her ! From check in with the staff at the front desk are very pleasant and efficient fast. There is also a New on-line check-in by text message before appointments. There is a patient portal website for appointment scheduling, medical assistance and billing as well. They accept most insurances for payment or surgical treatment plans. This Dermatology Practice offers: Skin Cancer Screening, Acne, Dermatitis, Skin, Lesions, Melanoma, Moles, Tags, Rosacea, Skin Infections. They will consult with Me about Sunscreen protection creams along with free samples. Cosmetic services are offered with Botox, Hydra facial, Laser Treatment, Fillers, and Micro-needle. I've posted a photos throughout My office visits plus of the office hours which currently two Saturdays per month as noted on their website. Phone: (586) 580-1001 The Dermatology Specialists are located on the 3rd Floor in Suite #325 in the Shelby Medical Mall which is located at 50505 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Township, MI. 48315. As I current and happy patient, I highly recommend Andrea Rosik, PA and the other 4 qualified Dermatologists. Other patients have posted 1 or 2 stars but after 8 years I can certainly review My medical skin care satisfaction with write 5 Stars! * Be Safe this Summer, Use SPF Sunscreen when outdoors and prevent Skin Cancer! :-) Sincerely, Karen N. I struggled with cystic acne for years. I saw Dr. Teri before pregnancy and after pregnancy. Most recently, I asked to split my payment between my HSA and debit card to avoid overdrawing my HSA account, since my medical expenses this year were higher than expected and the balance was insufficient. The receptionist responded by rolling her eyes and saying, "......it's only $200???" in a dismissive, condescending tone. I explained my situation, but she ignored it and proceeded to "joke" that I must have "gone on a shopping spree earlier," while laughing. She then made another inappropriate comment suggesting I was "hiding charges from my husband". I was surprised by the lack of basic understanding of how an HSA works in a medical office setting. Separately, from a cost perspective, I was "advised" to come in monthly for follow-up appointments in order to continue receiving prescription refills, when in reality I only needed to be seen every six months. This resulted in hundreds of dollars in unnecessary visits and charges until I noticed the pattern and spoke up. Additionally, while I can't say this with certainty, my own review of the billing details has led me to believe there may have been instances of upcoding or billing for more complex services than were actually provided, which further increased my charges. I strongly caution you to review your EOBs closely.
