I am on a long road trip with my family in our 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander when our dashboard suddenly lit up with a bunch of serious malfunction errors, and the car lost driving power. We recently traveled from California to Duck Creek Village near Cedar City, UT for a family reunion. My car was running fine all the way to Cedar City but once I started going up the mountains to get to the campgrounds my engine light went on and my car was sluggish. We barely made it to our cabin that Friday afternoon. As soon as we arrived, I started looking for someplace to take my car to be looked at because I wasn't sure we'd make it back to California on the next Monday. All the automotive places were closed for the weekend but I happened to find Steve's Shell. How lucky was I to come across them. I was able to get an appointment the next afternoon. We cautiously drove down the mountain the next day and met John. John was sincerely one of the nicest guys we've ever met. He listened to our story, ran a diagnostic and talked to us about the issue. My car had a history of having problems going up hills but running perfectly fine otherwise. The code had reflected that the car put the engine in a "limp mode" stage to protect it. John cleared the code and my car was running fine; however, I was leery about driving it back up the mountain. John was kind enough to let me leave it parked at the station until my family reunion ended on Monday morning. He changed my air filter, topped off my oil and put an additive in my gas tank. The price for everything was so reasonable and his validation that we should make it home safely gave me great comfort. Well, John we did make it home safely and my car is still running fine. We were driving my brother's van from Rancho Cucamonga, California to Lakewood, Colorado and back to see my father in the hospital. On the way back, we had to have the car jump-started at one of the places where we stopped to get gas. We had already had the battery charged when we left that morning so it surprised us. The closer we got to Cedar City, UT, it was clear that the battery was dead and we were on the alternator. We confirmed it the next morning when AAA jump-started the battery again. To be safe, we had the van towed to Steve's. We did not have an appointment. We were stranded over the holiday weekend. Fred was incredibly caring. He didn't have the battery, ordered it from his many resources to deliver it to him, installed it and checked the alternator in between the MANY cars he was servicing. We were driving through cedar city with a rental car when we developed a leak in the sidewall of our tire. The rental company was no help and left us to figure out repairs on our own. It was a Saturday afternoon at 5pm. We called every open tire store in town but nobody had the right size. We called Steve's shell and while they didn't have the tire on hand they were so helpful in ordering the right size and scheduling the repair for first thing Monday morning. We got the car back on Monday morning, the tire was there, as promised, and they were able to get us back on the road in 15 mins. Road tripping from California and my car broke down 12 miles away from these guys. Caught a tow and was serviced by Fred, John, and Kyland who were absolutely amazing! Got to us within an hour of our arrival. Ran a diagnostic on my car, got on the phone with my insurance to file a claim, let us chill there for 4 hours while we figured out a rental, calls back home, etc... they ordered a new motor for my car and are holding my car there until we can get the motor replaced and drive back to UT to pick it up. They definitely made the process a lot easier and were around to crack jokes to cheer us up. Stay away! Water pump replacement. Waited 5 days on our vacation. Mechanic got the wrong part. Said the correct one was 2 days or more. Never called me on status update. Obviously upset. I called Ford dealership 5 min away from Steve's Shell. Got the correct part. Arrived with correct part and said they would get to my truck when they could. While my entire family was in a borrowed car from a friend. I sat there and watched for an hour while they fixed other peoples cars. They are either, lazy, incompetent, liars, or don't care about customers. No idea how they got 5 stars. Although they did replace my radiator cap. I was in the middle of a 10-hour drive from Ogden, UT to Phoenix, AZ and my engine started acting up. From the onboard OBDII reader codes, I determined it was a spark plug and/or coil pack. I managed to limp my way to Cedar City, only to find everything was closed (Saturday). I stopped at the only other place open, Jiffy Lube, and they referred me to Steve's. I got to Steve's at around 3pm. The mechanic said he would take a look, but he he had evening plans, so he couldn't stay too late. I explained to him my situation and he agreed to do the work. The parts were in within the half hour and he got me back on the road by 4. This is a drive I do two or three times a year, I'll definitely remember this place. The girl said "one second" and started walking around, then came back out and started working. After 15 minutes, I left because I still didn't know if they could do it or not. Initial quote to "fix" my car was $150, after being worked on and the car still not fixed the new amount is $241 and as I am now in the process of getting the car towed elsewhere for services they will not give me my keys until it is paid. I was on a road trip through Utah camping in my truck when my engine started to run hot. It started guzzling full tanks of coolant every few miles. I got towed 97 miles (thanks AAA!) from Tropic all the way to Cedar City because Steve's shop was the closest and apparently most reliable. And I was so lucky! Steve lived up to his positive yelp reviews and recommendations from the tow truck driver and other local shops. He promised me he would look at it the same day and he did. He was laid back but seemed to understand the stress of the situation I was in. He found that the radiator cap seal was broken and had the new one delivered right away. We were on a family road trip from Ely Nevada on our way to Kanab Utah in a rental car when we had tire trouble just outside of Minersville. It was on a Sunday and every place was closed. My daughter's car would not start. Steve's shell was recommended to us by Cedar City Auto. We had the car towed to Steve's and Fred, the technician, let is know that he would have it repaired the same day. True to his word, the car was repaired by 8:00 pm the same day. Fred called me as soon as it was done. He was working on numerous other cars as well and ended up staying until at least 10 pm to try and repair them. I researched local businesses before I went to Steve's Shell. Being previous dealers of full lube bay stations my expectations are higher than most people. Fred Jr. and Jordan are a great team. I watched them both work together with walk-in customers and scheduled appointments. Neither getting frazzled while helping everyone. I went in with what I was hoping was a power steering leak and turned out to be a small coolant leak. It's a Sunday morning here in Cedar City Utah. Just had breakfast and ready to continue on my trip north. I fire up my truck only to notice a low pressure warning. Every gas station offers Air- for $1 but the compressors are J-U-N-K! I'm looking on here and yahoo maps trying to find an open store. ALL CLOSED!!! Except this She'll station. Not only does his air compressor work great, if I had a flat- they can fix from $5-$30 depending on what's to be repaired. Lucky for me, I just loss air over night and I was on my way. I pulled in the station and briefly spoke to Fred Jr. He looked at my truck and determined the problem right away. He then called multiple sources and was able to get a part delivered within 10 minutes. My truck was on the lift and he had me back on the road in 56 minutes.
