I never write reviews, but I had to for this shop. I was driving through Cedar City to California. Unfortunately, my truck broke down right outside of Cedar City right on I-15. I was stranded. I called around to multiple places, but Ernesto was the only one who answered the phone. He said he would look at it even though it was after hours on a Thursday evening. I had the truck towed over to his shop. He initially thought it was the engine. I decided not to stay in town because I though it was going to take a week to fix. One of his mechanics (who happens to be a US Marine) gave me a ride all the way to St. George that night so I could catch a flight. Uber wasn't available. The next day Ernesto called me and believed it to be the timing belt. He said he needed more time to make sure that there were not any other serious issues like a bent rod. He called me Saturday morning and told me my truck was fixed! He said there were not any other issues. I went back and picked it up on Sunday. It performed perfectly all the way to San Diego, CA without any issues. His rates were extremely reasonable and fair! It's hard to find honest and reliable mechanics these days. Despite my reminder, my wife neglected to check the oil on a long trip and her engine seized up just outside of Cedar City, Utah. I was a thousand miles away and was well aware of all the stories about how mechanics take advantage of women needing auto repair services, so I was pretty diligent in finding a mechanic I could trust. I spoke with a few shops in Cedar City and was immediately impressed with Ernesto's Auto Service. It's a smaller shop, but I know cars pretty well (I've built a few motors) and they gave me the feeling that they knew what they were doing. We agreed on a course of action and a reasonable estimate. I wasn't in a hurry to get the car back and we agreed on a rough timeline of about 2 months (it was their busy time, and I needed to save up for the cost of the repair, so it worked out for both of us). A good friend owns a couple of auto shops here in my neck of the woods and reaffirmed that the estimate Ernesto's gave was really good. Right at about 2 months, Ernesto's called to say the car is ready. My wife rented a car and drove out to pick up her car. When she test drove her car, it developed a knock. Ernesto and I discussed it and he was very apologetic. Being a car guy myself, I completely understood the issue and knew it wasn't his fault. Without any consternation on my part, he immediately offered to repair it again, reminding me that the broken part was under warranty. A couple of weeks later he tells me his son is bringing our car out to us, so that my wife wouldn't have to make a second trip out. Now THAT is customer service. The cost for all this was within a few dollars of the estimate, another welcome surprise. It's been a week and I have driven the car pretty hard to shake any bugs out of it and it runs great. Every conversation my wife or I had with Ernesto's was easy, reassuring and delightful. I never got the impression that they were trying to pull a fast one on us and was truly relieved with their trustworthiness. I can't tell you how happy I am with their services and attitude. If you ever need service in or around Cedar City, I give them my highest recommendation, and being a car guy myself, that should mean a lot to you. The next time I go through Cedar City, I will make it a point to stop in and buy those guys a beer. They've earned it. read more

I think there are probably a lot of people out there that can work on cars. Maybe some better than others, but is really difficult is to find someone who is totally honest. I have a long road trip ahead and stopped in because my car had some symptoms that concerned me. This shop is the best. They spent several hours on my car and did not find anything to fix, and did not charge me. I am here to tell you, I've been in this very similar situation, where I was heading to another country, the great white north, and had a mechanic take me for the ringer. Not Ernesto Auto.
