No disappointment here - The place is huge with plenty of room for everyone. We ordered cheese curds (when in Wisconsin, right?), buffalo wings, and the buffalo mac & cheese pizza. The cheese curds could've been a little better but were still solid. However, the wings and pizza were absolutely phenomenal. The pizza especially rocked. It was cheesy, spicy, and had an incredible crust. I also loved the use of popcorn chicken instead of grilled chicken for a seriously great crunch. Service was friendly if not the quickest, but it was a busy lunch service so no ticks there. I could see parking not being the easiest here when it's busy, so just prepare for a very short walk. The calzones at Steve's are amazing. We love the pizza too, but discovering the calzones has made it difficult to decide. It's a fun atmosphere and we've always found the staff to be friendly and fast. My whole family is a big fan of Steve's when we are visiting Platteville. read more

Pizza was sub-par. There's virtually no sauce on it and it was completely covered in grease. The interior pieces were so soggy and greasy they were tough to hold. Service was really good. All the staff seemed friendly and polite. read more

We don't go here every time we're in town, but almost. Tonight was Spring break for the university, so I've never seen Steve's so quiet on a Friday night. Service was good as always. I have such fond memories of this place as a kid. I show up in town 23 years later and not only has the location changed, but it's now bigger and it's two stories! The server was great. STAY AWAY!!! We spent the night across the street at a Holiday Inn Express and thought we'd carry out a pizza from a convenient location. Huge mistake! The "house pizza" was so greasy that the bottom of the cardboard box was drenched in grease. Most of the pizza ended in the garbage can. Usually menu is good. Make sure to pass on the penne pasta though. For $13.00 and an extra $5.00 for shrimp to be included, received a shallow bowl of pasta with basil pesto and the tiniest shrimp ever seen, maybe five tiny shrimp in all. I attended UWP in the 90's and at that time Steve's Pizza Palace was the must stop location on the walk from the downtown bars back to the dorms. If Yelp would have been a thing back at that time my review most definitely would have been 5+ stars. I mean c'mon pizza and calzones after a night of imbibing. I had the chance to return to Steve's last night for the first time in 24 years. The location remains the same, but Steve's certainly has expanded over the years. Within the expansion and remodeling I could still feel a little of the old place I used to know. From my college going days I don't recall a calzone costing $17. I guess that's a lot of years of inflation. I also didn't recall a 12" one topping pizza costing $16.50. How's today's college student expected to survive? My wife had a calzone and she said it was good. Steve's does have a late night (after 9) $6 special for an 8" one topping pizza that's now normally $12. I went with two of those over the 12". The good was that Steve's pizza sausage was as awesome as I remembered it to be. The not so good was that I was lucky to get one piece of sausage with each slice. I hope the skimpy topping was based on the late night happy hour special because I would have been sorely disappointed if I paid menu price for the same pizza. Steve's holds old memories for me. Platteville , known for farming, a school for engineers and a big M on the side of the hill , almost as famous is Steve's Pizza Palace, the pirate theme pizza place with a pirate ship seating area in the back. The sandwiches , are pretty good , I had a Philly cheese steak that was decent but didn't scream Philadelphia, the bread would of been great on a Cuban sandwich ( for the future , think of me ). The pizza was excellent , nice thinner crust with lightly crispy edges and stuff that has a sense of humor. I've been there a couple times now and will be back again ! Need to try all the pizzas ! read more

Good pizza. Very flavorful, good toppings, good service (this was pre covid). My issue is the pizza was a little wet, and the crust was not super crisp, which is my preference. However, that is my preference, and it may not be yours. So overall a four star rating, while for me personally probably closer to 3.5. I still will go back - it is very tasty. read more

Wow. What a cute apparently iconic place in the adorable town of Platteville. Reminded me of mine back from my own college days. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express there, a WONDERFUL hotel, btw, and its a one minute walk tops. We had their normal thin crust build your own three topping 16" pie for $26 but it was worth it. Plus it covered our lunch then the next day so not so expensive. Thin Crispy bottom with crunchy and airy outside crust. Just the right amount of sauce. Only thing that could make it better is a buttery garlic covering on the crust. Ok and a little more generous on the toppings, considering the price. Steve's Brewery is coming next door it looks like in another old historic building. Wonderful drinks and fast service on a Wednesday night. Huge place but still manages to be warm and inviting at the same time. We followed the reviews and had the homemade sausage even tho I'm not a lover of sausage. It was wonderful. If you love crunchy thin pizza not covered in sloppy sauce, go to Steve's! They do have a thick crust there too. My dad went to UW-Platteville in the late 60s and early 70s, and he remembered how much everyone loved Steve's, so we decided to check it out now on our way through town. The place is huge, and our server was nice. Skip the appetizers/salads and go right to the pizza because it's delicious! My mom was slightly disappointed in the chapters salad. We got a 16" thin crust pizza, and the crust was our favorite part. It was soft, yet firm. I wouldn't say it was super crispy though if that's your thing. I got spinach and tomato on my half, and my parents got sausage, green olive, and mushroom. The toppings were a bit lacking, especially the green olives, per my parents. Each piece of pizza had about one piece of whatever topping you got. The pizza was addicting though, and my entire family remarked that we just couldn't stop eating it! We left satisfied and would stop here again when in Platteville. read more

The absolute perfect college town pizza bar and etc. We got cheese curds, caprese salad, and Steve's special (sausage peppers and onions) best sausage I've had on a pizza. It wasn't overly fennely. Cheese was awesome made a perfect union with the sauce and the crust was thin and crispy perfectly seasoned! The cheese curds were also great! Knocked those out in 5 min. Crispy and light breading hot outta the fryer. The caprese salad was a cool fresh break from the hot meatiness of cheese curds and pizza. Service was efficient and the people were very nice. Stayed late past closing time so us and a few others could wrap up our dinner. Very please with all aspects of this place. And it's skipping distance from the holiday inn. Highly disappointed with Steve's Pizza. When we entered we were told to go upstairs although there were tables available in the main dining. Went upstairs, was not greeted by, all the tables were filthy as well as the floor. Sat at the least dirty table and still not one greeted us or even acknowledged we were there. Waitress had brought the wrong food out to us. Left without telling customer of status of food. Came back twenty minutes later to tell us it would be another twenty minutes. Lack of management staff seen or presence seen. Management never came over to apologize for the delay. THE FOODS GOOD, BUT SERVICE NEEDS A LOT OF WORK. Have not been inside the new (10 years!) location, just used the drive up window, but it looks spacious and nice inside. Stopped in for a late lunch just passing through town. We had the house pizza, which was very good. Crust was thin and crispy. Sauce was just right along with ample cheese. Menu said it had home made sausage and beef but did not list pepperoni. It did in fact have very tasty sausage but no beef that we could see or taste. Although, it did have pepperoni. Only complaint about the pizza itself, was that we thought it should have had more veggies. But, that may just be our preference. The establishment has a small bar in front along with dining tables. I was in town speaking at an event and relied on Yelp as always for food choices.  Platteville is a neat little college town, and downtown itself is very clean, quiet, and just feels like a perfect little town in the heartland.  The mixed reviews almost kept me from coming here but I took the risk because there were both good and bad reviews to balance things out.  Glad I did.  Service was super. The lady was genuinely friendly and fielded my menu questions with grace. Food came out in a reasonable time. No problems whatever. Very clean and well kept resturant. Huge high backed booths and granite tables. Perhaps some of the bad reviews were likened to people who unfortunately just got bad waiters.  I went on a Friday night in the summer and it was very quiet. I'm guessing that during the fall and spring when college is going on that this place is hopping! Summer visit was quiet and relaxing for me.  Pizza was good. No complaints there at all. read more

I have given this restaurant so many chances to not make me regret deciding to eat here. I'm so sick of being let down. I will not be giving them another chance. However if you ever want to see their $9 calzone( they charge $24 dollars for) and want to be charged $4 for a ramekin of dipping sauce, please go here. Thete isnt any sauce on the actual pizza, the crust is super thin, they dont let you have more than 1 topping on a 12 dollar pizza..... I'm completely disappointed. The six star restaurant Is the tops! Everything from the phone call at the beginning of my order was excellent. The associate on the other end of the phone was nothing but helpful in getting my order placed, even though I was placing a difficult order. Food showed up promptly for what we ordered. Everything was great! My kids and I enjoyed an early dinner, dining Upstairs. I had never been up there before and it was a pleasant surprise to be sat up there. Being a server myself, I thought it was cool that each floor took turns being sat, allowing everyone working to be able to make money. Ashton was our server and he did awesome! My only suggestion would be to offer a side salad option. Either Ala cart and/or as a side with an up-charge. I wanted to order one, but didn't see it on the menu. My kid wanted salad as his side and was told they were out of what comes with the kids meal, so I didn't bother asking about a side salad. I heard the next table that came in ask if there was a side salad and they were told no, only full salads, but they are great for sharing. They did order a full salad to share, but each wanted different salads, having to settle on a full one together. The next table of 4 that was sat also asked if side salads were available. They also ended up getting a full salad to share among the 4 of them. Being in the industry myself, I felt for the server having to explain every time that they only offer full salads and then wait there while everyone discussed if they wanted to share a salad and what one they wanted to share. read more

I am new to town and decided to try Steve's pizza. I tried a thin crust pepperoni pizza which cost me about 12.50. I was shocked when the pizza arrived. It was so small and bland looking. The pepperoni was cooked under the cheese and lacked flavor and texture. All the pepperoni did was make it hard to bite the pizza without pulling out the other half of the pepperoni. The crust was shameful. It was as dry as a desert. It reminded me of the jewish matzo crackers (in both texture and taste). I didn't get much flavor from the cheese or sauce. No joke, I get much better 6$ frozen pizzas from walmart. 12.50 is way too much for this quality of pizza. My lady server did a good job and the overall cleanliness of the restaurant was fine. The quality of the pizza from this pizza restaurant left so much to be desired that I will not be returning to try other food. read more

If you're from Platteville, this is a weekend staple. I love the BLT pizza! Their thin crust is just okay, but I'm in the minority on that one. I will caution you against this though -- if you take a large group there, you will probably have to send someone from your party to fetch more drinks. We recently took a group of 17. That was way too big for a Friday night. We were sent upstairs where the waitress could only come back twice. Groups under 8 work better for the staff. read more

Wow...just to put this in perspective...I have never written a negative review for a restaurant before...seriously. Picked up a 3-topping (and only one meat) 12 inch pizza today for carry out. $22.94. I have NEVER eaten a worse pizza in my life - and I'm talking worse than any 5 for $10 pizza I've baked as is. I only wish I had taken some pictures to go along with my horrific review. each of the square slices had 3 slices of black olive, about 5 sundried tomatoes and absolutely no visible beef - nor did I take much of any beef. Cheese was OK. Pizza crust overdone. I asked for heavy sauce (decent tasting marinara...I will give them that) and the whole thing was dry, dry, dry. Horrendous...I would never eat here again and the owner should be embarrassed turning out this food for these prices...shame on you. read more
