I had two brand-new rear tires installed on my Hyundai Elantra at VIP Tires in Waterbury,…read more Connecticut, on Sunday while I was staying in Connecticut for the weekend. On my drive home, I noticed I had a flat tire, so I decided to replace both rear tires before making the 2 1/2-hour drive home on Monday. Unfortunately, on Tuesday, I noticed that both of the brand-new rear tires had lost air. When I brought my car to Valvoline for an oil change, they checked the tires and found that both were completely flat--their equipment couldn't even register the PSI. At that point, I was told there were potentially two issues: either the valve stems were leaking or the tires had not been properly sealed during installation. I brought the car to VIP Tires in Londonderry, New Hampshire and they were extremely thorough. They explained that the valves should have been inspected and tested as part of the installation and quality-assurance process. They were also able to see through VIP's connected computer system that the work had been performed at the Waterbury location. When I called the Waterbury location to explain what happened, Joe told me that Justin had worked on my car Sunday at approximately 2 PM and that he would speak with him. Joe did apologize that this happened to me, which I appreciated, but I did not feel that the response fully acknowledged the seriousness of the situation or the fact that the proper quality-assurance inspection should have been completed before I was sent home with two new tires. Thankfully, my experience at VIP Tires in Londonderry, NH, was completely different. Allison and the installer were professional, patient, and thorough. They got me in quickly, inspected my tires, showed me exactly what was wrong, and took care of the issue without making me wait long. Their customer service was excellent and gave me confidence that my vehicle was being properly taken care of. VIP aims to provide professional service and ensure customer trust during maintenance, and that is exactly what I experienced in New Hampshire. Unfortunately, the Woodbury, Ct experience fell short of that standard and could have put me and my family at risk during a 2 1/2-hour drive home. I hope VIP Waterbury takes this seriously and makes sure proper inspections and quality-control procedures are followed after every tire installation.

I have been a VIP customer for years. Maybe more than 10…read more They make a lot of mistakes. Over the years, I have been willing to let it go because they are reasonably friendly and try to help. That unfortunately does not overcome the severe deficiency in making sure their work is good. VIP example mistakes: has failed to tighten wheel nuts, oil drain plugs. They have damaged my car using impact wrench where they should not (spare mount). The most recent VIP mistake: I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotate prior to a road trip. One of the wheel lugs were not torqued fully. They were snug, not tight. This condition is well known to cause fatigue failure of wheel studs. Happened to me. See the pics. Think 80 mph, Florida Freeway, nighttime, Florida aggressive drivers. It could have been a bad wreck triggered by the wheel coming off at speed. When I called VIP, they seemed most concerned with denial of responsibility. I was pissed because their work nearly resulted in a incredibly dangerous situation. People die from high speed wrecks and VIP seemed more concerned with denying responsibility. After all these years, I am done with these people. The lack of concern that they induced a dangerous situation is not acceptable. If you use these people to do work on your car, do yourself a favor, go buy a torque wrench and double check their work. Their words saying they check their work are not matched by actual results. Bottom line. These folks are risky and you might get a nasty surprise. Maybe even crash and die. PS. The VIP customer service responds to these YELP reviews are totally hollow. Look at other reviews. My experience with VIP is not unique. If they really fixed their shortcomings, all the bad reviews will be old.
