Stevens Animal Hospital has been a second family to our pets for years. Dr Chris is amazing along with our favorite vet tech, Veronica aka Miss V to our pups. We started going there when our last pup starting having heart murmurs. The vet that we had previously was super expensive, over charging for services, over medicating our pup and we decided to get a second opinion. When we first walked into Stevens, we saw a battery operated candle with a sign that stated that is the candle was lit, someone was saying goodbye to their companion and asked all those in the lobby to keep their voices low and their cell phones on vibe or silent. I knew we had found the right place. They took care of Rockie's every need until his passing last February. Rockie had heart issues and was given one to one and a half years and nearly lasted two bc of the guidance and care received from Dr Chris. The entire staff is extremely friendly and caring of our little fur babies and they offer a myriad of services such as non-sedation dental cleaning, grooming, boarding etc. The facilities are clean and they immediately disinfect any "accidents" that may occur. We have since added a new family member named Chloe. She has already had her first visit with Dr. Chris and she is on track for a healthy and happy life. Did I also mention that they help out with rescue facilities? And did I mention how reasonably priced their services are? Well, now you know! I can't imagine taking our fur babies any place else. Very impressive, consistent, professional, and take a personal interest in your furr- babies. The girls at the front desk are very warm, friendly, attentive, and super polite. Dr. Glenn Zeitz is our veterinarian. He's long over due for his FIVE stars - we have seen him 3X. He's such a nice guy. Found through talking, we were both from Pennsylvania, growing up neighborhoods close by. I found him to be caring and definitely has a way with animals. I felt he actually listened to problems my kitties were experiencing. He had recommendations and options, and we went from there. I am happy to state that all issues were resolved. Giving out even more stars .... Also, I need to mention Mike. I like his approach with my pets. He is a great help prepping for the dr. and easing the furr-babies into place. He probably does more than we think. and finally... FIVE- STARS- PLUS- go to Marlene ( she gets her own) ..WOW-- Amazing grooming results. I was super happy. And so very, very surprised. She did a wonderful job on my puppy, SAMMi's very first grooming. SAMMi doesn't like to be brushed at all !! Marlene must be the puppy whisperer - my puppies fur was uneven due to a surgery where she was shaved. Just last month, we experienced her first shedding cycle. She looked very disheveled. Marlene met with us, and I explained what I was interested in. Not shaven, I said, try to even out her fur, clean up around her hind legs and under belly. There was some matted fur around her ears, too. I'll admit I really wasn't expecting too much. SAMMi is not a fan of the brush!! Marlene must have started whispering to SAMMi soon after I handed her the leash. WELL ! I could not be happier. She looks terrific - not sure how she did it. She looks like the puppy I bought last June. I recommend Marlene, she very skillful and definitely can handle the most energetic of puppies. SAMMi is a Pomsky so full of life and energy all the time. I'm new to the area. I'm very lucky to have found a place like this - too trust they will treat my furr-babies with the attention, love, and care as if they belonged to them. This is a very unique veterinarian - hospital where everyone I've met so far is awesome !!! You will feel the same, too.... Also found the pricing to be very reasonable. I took my dog in for a consult for growth removals and teeth cleaning. I had experience with staff members there from another hospital who now work at Steven's and I trust them because they were amazing with my two dogs I had previously. Just a level of heart and empathy you don't always see and that stuck with me. The overall staff was very friendly and warm upon entering. I didn't wait long to be seen and consulted with. This facility was very thorough and fair with pricing the procedure. Her procedure wasn't long and they were in constant contact with me. Her incisions were clean and healed nicely. I received great service at Steven's hospital. They got me in only 2 days after I called and were very caring to my fur baby.

I hate to write this review because we have raved about this vet for years. Our entire family goes to this vet. We normally see Dr. Glenn Zeitz and we love him. Our beautiful girl Ghost unfortunately started feeling sick Saturday night and not eating since Friday, it didn't seem too urgent so we waited till Monday and they booked us with Dr. Escobar (a new doctor we've never seen). By Monday morning her eyes were yellow, wouldn't go on walks, in obvious pain, throwing up water. They did an xray and blood work. She came back with liver toxins and pancreatitis. Dr. Escobar was only concerned about the pancreas and kept telling me not to worry about the liver (even though her eyes were yellow). They kept her for the day giving IVs and medicine (a 3 day shot for pancreatitis). We asked for pain management for her and Dr. Escobar told us the medicine they gave us should be sufficient even though she left the vet in pain. Tuesday morning we brought her in for the second shot, her eyes were worse and her gums are yellow, they didn't have the ability to treat liver failure so they sent us to BluePearl. Once we got there they IMMEDIATELY gave her fentanyl because she was in pain. Long story short and a $8300.00 estimate just for testing, they took a sample of the inflammation and fluid in her belly (within 15 min so I don't know why Stevens didn't do this), she had septic acid and was given a 15% survival rate. We put her down at home that afternoon. I don't know why they kept this case if they couldn't treat liver failure. They should have sent us straight to BluePearl, but we trusted Stevens Animal Hospital to help her. We are distraught and angry. Dr. Escobar rushed my husbands questions looking at his watch as my husband spoke with him. Refused pain management and let her suffer longer than necessary. Completely unacceptable and ended with the death of our beautiful girl. read more

Great job by Dr J Escobar DVM who performed eye surgery on our rescued cat , Milo. He was very caring and did a professional job . Cat's eye had to be removed due to an injury and he looks much better after surgery. He also ordered a medication to calm our other hyper cat. In response to that ... I did not know London was having urinary issues his stomach was distended since I took him to you in September ! Your animal hospital didn't even acknowledge what it took another vet to see just by looking at him !! By the time I decided to go to another doctor London had to have 3 PROCEDURES DONE To save him. From a result of a UTI please tell me that you did follow up with another test to see if it was cleared up. Clearly not. I was just pushed from doctor to doctor. I also told your vet that London ate a lot the morning of his last visit. Regular food which your vet instructed me it was ok to go off a diabetic diet if he was on insulin " he should be okay " even so your doctor upped his dosage causing him to go into a hypoglycemic state. ( dragging of the back legs, wobbling head , etc. and you are worried that I'm hurting a small business owned operation ??!!! Did you or your business associates care that you were hurting an animal or that it took me $4000.00 to correct this issue ??? Which doesn't even matter what matters was my cats well being. And the exact words were sorry were fully booked today. Now if you go and read some of your other bad reviews from other patients they had the same issue " sorry we're fully booked". And no I do not wish to speak to anyone nor you about this issue !!! And if you wanted my cats records you were supposed to contact me. Not the vet. Very unprofessional!!!! After a bad experience at another local Vet, I decided to try Stevens on the recommendation of my sister who uses them. It is very frustrating when you move to a new area and need a Vet and don't know where to start. I am very pleased with my decision to use this practice. First of all, they answer the telephone; try calling some of the other Vets in town and be prepared to be put on hold. The staff is professional. The waiting room is never packed because they space out the appointments, but it is easy to get one. Never in all the years of owning dogs have I ever had a Vet call me at home the next day to check on my dog. They spend a lot of time examining each animal and they are very thorough. I can't express enough of praise for our Dr. Mark Stevens, DVM. He has a conservative outlook and prescribes minimal medications with a full explanation as to why he recommends his treatment plan. He's an experienced and caring vet that loves animals and does what is best for his clients. He articulates very well and has wonderful bedside manners. He's modest with his pricing and does not overcharge. As a matter of fact, my husband and I find his visits and meds very reasonable and competitive. Everything has been stellar up until today. My son and I came in in a crisis situation with a dog DX ed with Lymphoma 6 weeks ago. The dog had previously been seen in this office (years ago as a puppy, The dog is 4 years old) and I have been seeing Dr Mark for 14 years. We noticed open sores on the dog this am and were concerned about infection asking for possibly an antibiotic to prevent possible infection. My son's vet is on vacation and do not have weekend office hours. Even though Dr Chris's first patient was a no show neither Dr was compassionate enough to see our dog. Call on Tuesday to make an appointment was the response. Not really compassionate and I am really dissappointed in their response. My animals will not be coming back. We were able to see a compassionate caring vet where we were never seeen before and welcomed with open compassionate arms and gave us great care for our dog whose days are clearly numbered. My heart is broken as to the response of these Dr's. The staff was really put on the spot yet acted very respectful because it was out of their hands. All in all we are thankful for the care we received . Not sure why it posted as a California location but it was right here in Pompano Beach. read more

This review has been updated to reflect new events. I took my kitty in to be spayed and was very happy with how the surgery went. She was sent home stitched up nicely, with a cone on her head, and with the proper medications. She seemed to be doing great and I hadn't seen her reaching her incision at all. 6 days later, I noticed the stitching was becoming loose and the incision appeared to be infected. I called this vet asking to come in and the front desk staff advised me to "wait until next week" because they were "busy". I insisted on her coming in sooner, and was able to come in that day. Within 15 minutes, my cat was sent home with medication for an infection. I was also told the cone she had been wearing was "much too small" which caused her to lick the incision, causing the infection. I was then charged for antibiotics and medication. No vet even took the time to look at her incision. And I heard nothing regarding the loose stitches and opening wound. Two days later, I woke up in the morning to find my cat's incision completely ripped open. This was on a weekend and Steven's Animal Hospital was closed. I had to bring her in to a new vet who performed an emergency surgery to re-stitch the wound, and she also needed several X-Rays to see if her muscle wall had ripped open. The clinic who performed this emergency repair advised me that if I had waited any longer, this issue could have been fatal. I am so glad my kitty was able to be seen by another clinic before it was too late. As a customer, I had full faith and trust in this clinic to provide my animal with the CORRECT sized cone from the beginning. I also counted on them to notice the torn stitches and address it- but they were too rushed and did not. This entire ordeal cost me an arm and a leg and could have easily been prevented if the staff at this vet had A.) given my cat the proper sized cone, and B.) addressed her RIPPING stitches when she had come in the second time. Do not trust your animals with these "professionals". read more

Very sad I have to part ways with this animal hospital after they refused to see me for an emergency. They also refused to give me their next available appointment when I requested one, knowing they wanted to follow up since his last visit. I have a Belgian Malinois and if you cannot handle the breed, then please tell me and formally dismiss me as a patient. Please don't lie about not having an available appointment. If no one at your facility is equipped to handle this breed, then say so! Ive been coming there for 4 years and not once they recommended a sedative for his visits. He's scared, not aggressive, and always muzzled. As an animal specialist, you should know how this dog behaves when in fear. Not only was I refused an appointment, they kept referring me to clinics where dogs tragically die and have limbs wrongfully amputated. It was very stressful needing to find a new vet when you think your dog is dying. Found a new amazing vet that was able to see us right away! My dog was on his best behavior with Trazadone. I was treated with compassion and no discrimination over the breed. I had the best visit I've ever had. I also left informed and was given instruction on medication, which I did not with Stevens. If Steven's Animal Hospital is going to be selective and restrict certain breeds, then say so! If you have a small pet that doesn't bark and have lots of money to spend, then this is your place. read more

It really doesn't get much better than this. I got an appointment within 48 hours. The front desk staff was unbelievably nice. I was able to email them previous documents that they wanted me to bring. So many Vets are not able to handle email. These people are on their game. A friendly front desk staff is a wonderful thing. They have it all. The vet tech, Richard, was helpful and kind. Clearly this practice is doing something right. The attitude of the owners is making its way through their entire small organization. Hats off to them. Dr. Chris Stevens was very kind, smart, diligent, thorough, detailed, and informative. I would trust her judgment when it came to just about anything with my dog, Rondo. She inspired my confidence. I appreciated her entire approach. The checkout process was easy, and digital. Nice, and modern. One suggestion would be to accept Apple Pay, but this is no big deal. Another suggestion is to give the customer an option to have the receipt emailed directly to them, instead of the printed hard copy. That way the customer can file that receipt digitally, and have a digital record of their pet's vaccination history. And we can save a tree in the process. They upsold me on some items, but I was glad they did. Nothing frivolous and nothing useless. Everything was on point with a purpose, and I appreciated that. Overall, the prices were exactly in-line with the value that was provided. I have not a negative thing to say about my experience here, and would highly recommend this veterinary practice to anyone who is looking for some place to take their beloved pet. read more

Took my new rescue to another "Vet" office because they had walk in anal gland expression. For $37. I thought that was a deal. I could hear her screaming from the back room. It was awful. Less than 2 weeks later, she is scooting again and I can smell it....I called the other office to ask if I could bring her back in as maybe they didn't express completely. I asked if they would charge for it.....5 days later I never heard back from them. I didn't wait, I just brought her to Stevens the next day. They advised that one gland was empty, the other was full, which they expressed. Based on my story of my girl screaming, they also checked for possible injuries. So, they checked for possible injury and expressed for HALF the price. The office is new, clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Highly recommend. Both my girls go there. read more
