I went in for an ongoing foot injury that flared up around 2 years ago....its been 2 years of going around in circles and not getting to a solution to this injury. I'm beyond tired and frustrated of living with this injury and these supposed experts not helping me in the slightest....this is not the quality of care I need or deserve. 2 parts to this review with 2 diff ratings. 1st part is the support staff processes are horrific and either the Dr. is unaware of it or just doesn't care. This seems out of character for the man that I meet who really did seem to care about his patience. The experience of attempting to reach someone in the office horrible and if you attempt to leave a message for the Dr. as the voice mail message indicates, 'press 1 to leave a message for the Dr. and he will return your call based on the urgency of the matter' you receive a message that says the voice mail has not been set up yet. If you are fortunate to reach an officed staff member and leave a message for Tamie (the office manager) or the Dr. you will likely not receive a return call or at least I never did. I had 2 minor noninvasive procedures done by another Dr. that did not resolve my ankle area cyst, I was referred to Dr. Kaplan. Dr Kaplan indicated that if I do the surgery, it is 95%+ % that my cyst issue will be resolved. Well, 2-3 months after the surgery the cyst returned after having spent $2500+ on this surgery. To finish my 2-score level review: Support staff or customer service staff 0-1 & Dr Kaplan a 2-3. This 2-3 would be a 5 if the cyst issue was resolved. The Dr. is a very nice man with good bed side manner, but he needs to be more attentive to patients concerns and either get a better office manager or get the current office manager (assuming she is the same person I met at the Dr. office 1 time and she seemed very nice) to perform better with patient concerns. Maybe she needs an assistant and maybe better staffers in the office. Just read your own reviews, almost all are negative regarding being able to reach someone or being on hold for much too long. On the recommendations of my primary doctor, I called Dr. Kaplan's office on January 15, 2024. I had a callus / corn on my feet and was trouble walking. I was on the phone for well over 15 minutes , listening to a recorded message" your call is important to us. We will attend to your call in the order received. Stay on the phone etc. etc." Finally, I gave up without being able to get hold of any one to talk to. I believe this doctor is not running his business in a professional way. If a patient can not get an appointment , I will consider that a total failure on the part of the doctor in a manner expected of a doctor. I will never want to go back to seek his medical advice. Let me tell you about the great experience I got at Dr. Kaplan office... I was greeted by the receptionist over the phone with a great nice and friendly voice which setup my appointment. Then as I walked into the office same thing nice friendly smile checked me in and got the paperwork done. I was seeing by Dr Kaplan which took the time to asses my foot and my issue . He took the time to get to know about past experience and I told him had gone to another place and the issue wasn't resolved. He suggested a different plan of action that would give me more of a permanent result which was what I was seeking . Not too many people or offices do that . The whole staff was very great and friendly. I would recommend this to all my family and friends . Heck even strangers lol . Got to go see Dr.kaplan for all your needs. read more

I came here years ago and felt uneasy about the whole unprofessional office experience. Now that I am trying to come back I can see why I felt that way. I mean seriously Dr Kaplan....do something about your front office staff. They are ALWAYS late. I cant get them to answer the phones. This is the 3rd time I called at 9:10am and then at 9:15 and again !0:35 and couldn't get through The machine says we are currently closed? I finally got through only to speak to a very inexperienced RUDE front office girl. That's enough to get me to go elsewhere. I have PPO so I have a choice but for those whos insurance only sends them here, I feel sorry for you folks. read more

De. Jennifer Chen is outstanding. After two weeks of "it's just sprained" I decided to get an X-ray and found out I broke my 5th metatarsal on my foot. So off to Dr.Chen I go. She was great. Talked to me about everything and answered all my questions. 6 to 8 weeks crutches (scooter she recommended) and no weight on it. She was very honest with dos and don'ts. Of course A lot of don'ts . After many years of being a patient here. Today is the day that we part ways. Maybe one patient leaving this practice will not make much of a difference in monetary value to them. Though not receiving courteous and should I say professional courtesy by staff is fundamental in any line of business. Especially in the medical field. Today I went instead of calling as I had had an appointment on Thursday. Friday I had felt a little bothered by one toe nail. Sometimes it has happened and by the end of the day it resolves. So the weekend came and it got worse and now I'm in pain. One of my toe nails was not cut properly I presume. So being Diabetic fearing an infection I went in. The lack of care or empathy by the staff even in their tone of voice was well, uncalled for. I respect that the physicians time is valuable and people do have appointments. If you have an option to go somewhere else turn around and run . The rudeness of the employees is by far the worse I have experienced in any medical office before. We arrived at 410pm for a 430pm appointment . We were told out appointment was moved later because we were not on time. Next this office does not allow you to enter if you are not wearing a face mask. While the employees do not wear one. We came for an appointment for our 5 year old daughter. We were told that only one parent could enter. If you have any children needing a podiatry consultation it is likely serious and you want to be able to both be there. You know I have no problem with Dr. Chen, she has been great with my elderly mom in law so I just want her to know that she is not the reason we are leaving her care and going to find another podiatrist. It's because of the way the office receptionist went off on my husband, she thought it was perfectly fine to go up to him in the parking lot where he was sitting inside his vehicle and shake her finger at him while she preceded to scold him (like he's 6 years old!) about being 7 minutes late to his mothers appointment. WHO THE HECK DOES SHE THINK SHE IS?? Now I know that being late to ones appointment just makes everyone else after her run late BUT there was absolutely no one else in the waiting room but my mom in law so WHO THE HECK WAS HER LATE ARRIVAL affecting. When my husband signed his mom in the receptionist told him "I don't know if she can still be seen because she's late, she might have to wait" and my husband said (not in a harsh way) "there's no one else in here, so why would she have to wait?" and before he walked out to sit in his vehicle he looked at me and shrugged his shoulders and repeated what he said again. Receptionist had a melt down after that. NO WAY IS THAT ACCEPTABLE. I'm not going to name her (blond woman),she knows who she is and so does the office manager, I spoke to her about this woman's horrible behavior. Sorry but this place is a disappointment. The telephone system never works. The staff is rude and impatient. You can hardly ever reach anyone and we've never seen Dr. Kaplan after 5 visits. I called last week twice their system was down. Called this week 3x and allegedly their system is down unless you call the Dr. line then they pick up but are of no help. If you're elderly and you need help with your feet please try someone else. The poor communication and struggles to reach someone is exhausting. read more

I've been going to Dr Kaplan for the last year and half. He's been a great doctor, always answers all my questions (I usually have a lot) and gives me suggestions of what I could do to help my foot. His office manager is great too, she was able to squeeze in a visit before Christmas with just a couple days notice. They remodeled their office this past year and I must admit it looks great, definitely an upgrade from the previous office. Dr. Kaplan will take his time and give you quality care you need. No one seems to answer the phone... I have called numerous times for several days during their "office hours" and it always goes to voicemail. I finally gave up and left a message with contact information. It has been 2 weeks and no one from Dr. Kaplan's office has returned my call. Made an appointment to see Dr. Kaplan in a referral from another patient. I wanted three weeks to see him and when I showed up I assigned a different doctor. What's up with that! I waited three weeks just to see Dr. Kaplan and I could have seen this other doctor within one week but got her anyway. She was nice but not what I expected. Furthermore, for the amount of people this place is apparently seeing, it's time to ask the landlord for a remodel. You walk in the front door and it screams, "Welcome to the 70's". There's even directions on the restroom door how not to permanently lock the door from the inside. Can't we just buy a new handle and lock? I hope these doctors aren't using medical devices from the 70's too. Nice people, the decor and scheduling of doctors is not on par with what I'd except in the Glendora area. read more

My husband had knee replacement surgery and his legs are not the same length so he was having an unbalance gait. Dr. Chen saw him and was so thorough, she is so amazing. She recommended a lift for his one shoe and since he is diabetic, he can get some special insoles for his shoes. We were referred to a place that makes the insoles and also has shoes that will accommodate the new insoles. I never knew this kind of support was out there. If you have problems with your feet, this is the place to come. read more

This office deserves zero stars. Do yourself a favor and don't ever go here...EVER. Their office staff is completely inefficient, unprofessional and unorganized. My appointment was in July, I left several voice mails for the office staff and the doctor's personal cell phone...NO CALLS BACK! It is now the middle of October. I FINALLY got through today and asked for them to give me a logical explanation for their poor follow up and she said "I've been out of the office" and "we didn't mean to target you." WHAT??? Tammy (the receptionist) was very helpful and very courteous when it came to finding an availability for me when my schedule was very hectic. Dr. Kaplan did a great job on removing my ingrown toenail and during the whole procedure was very patient with me. After the procedure he explained to me all the after care stuff I needed to know and answered all my questions. His office is so friendly and professional I highly recommend. read more

I give Dr. Kaplan and their staff zero stars. Their services are very unprofessional. Dr. Kaplan never got back to me even though he said to call him if anything happened. I literally could not walk and I never heard back from him (despite I left 2 messages). Additionally, their charts are very disorganized (mine was lost). The clinic manager wants to give medical advice even though she is not a podiatrist. I reported it all to my insurance. I have been wanting to write a review regarding my experience with Dr Kaplan and his office, been so busy totally forgot, Dr Kaplan did surgery on my foot for a bunion and let me tell you great Dr. he always had an answer to any of my 100k questions regarding anything pertaining to the surgery or after care. Tami was also just a wonderful person nice and so professional. I never had a worry when it came to putting my trust in his ability to perform the surgery and the healing process. It's going to be a year in July, and I just want to say if I had another bunion on my left foot, would not hesitate for one minute in having Dr Kaplan remove it. This was my first ever visit to a podiatrist and I have to say it wasn't a bad experience. There were a few people in the office when I arrive and I was about a half hour early. I signed in and sat down and about five minutes later the receptionist called my name and verified that I had already registered through their electronic registration system and collected my co-payment and let me know that the doctor would be with me shortly. The that patients that were already there before me were waiting to see Dr. Kaplan I was waiting to see Dr. Sophia Lu. About fifteen minutes went by and I was called in to a room by doctors assistant and she verified my information as well and why I was there to see the doctor. She was very professional and pleasant and about less than a minute when she walked out Dr. Lu walked in and introduced herself. She was also very pleasant and professional. Like I said this was my first time seeing a podiatrist so I wasn't really sure of what to expect but she made the whole experience very comfortable. She asked me what was bothering me and listened to my concerns and was very attentive and asked me a lot of questions and answered all of my questions. So over all I was very satisfied with the experience. The office seemed a bit small and tight but had an up to date feel and the office staff was friendly and polite. STAY AWAY! Very unprofessional, disorganized, would not return any phone calls, and Dr. Kaplan gave the wrong medical care. I was under Dr. Kaplan's care for 3 months and did not see any healing for my foot injury. I was in a boot the whole time and my last appointment with him he admitted he did not know what was wrong and so I should take the boot off and, "see how it goes." The next day it was just as awful as it was the first time I came in. I found a different podiatrist immediately and they were appalled that he did not do any tests to find out the exact problem. Finally, my foot is healing thanks to my new podiatrist. Do NOT waste your time dealing with Dr. Kaplan or his secretary-it only causes frustration. His secretary, Tammy, is very unprofessional and does not return phone calls. I called about 7 times and left messages to ask a simple question. I even talked directly to her and she said, "I will call you back soon" to give me the answer... I had to call about 5 more times before finally getting a simple answer. read more
