Chris Waite Car Sales Ltd - The forecourt... I could quite afford this car but the Astra I bought is fab-dabby-docious!

A lot of people are a bit nervous when buying a second hand car BUT Chris Waite of Chris Waite car…read moresales is possibly the most honest genuine man I have ever met. I went to buy a car recently and after trawling in and out of many showrooms I found the perfect car on the forecourt of this garage. Chris was there to greet me, he was a bag knowledge and knew the answer to every question I had. He took me through the finance agreement and made the purchase of my new Astra easy peasy. Since then the after care service has been A class. I was missing the service handbook so I spoke to Chris and within 48 hours it was delivered to me in person. This family run business has really restored my faith in second hand car salesmen. This company has been running for over 25 years and after meeting the Waite men I now know why. If only there was a brother lurking in the closet somewhere to make an honest woman out of me.

i purchased the love of my life in this place. Boris a T-reg, silver, Golf convertible. And boy do…read morei love him. My father used to be in the car trade so buying a car has always been a terrible, terrible task due to his constant pushiness and checking this and checking that! Mine and Boris's story really is a beautiful love affair. I seen him, he winked at me, i went home, dragged dearest Daddy to the forecourt, he prodded and questioned him and then he agreed to let his little girl drive off in the sunset with the roof down and music blasting. The boys here are brilliant! in fact, i thoroughly enjoyed myself whilst my Dad shook and got his cheque book out. They popped my CD payer in for me free of charge and gave me a lovely tax disc holder which made me happy. This is a family run business and the choice of cars, finance and refreshments are brilliant. The garage is huge so after care service is top notch. Sadly, mine and Boris relationship is on the rocks i've had him 5 years now and have seriously neglected the poor dab. But you know how it goes?

Do not buy anything from these guys. Purchased a van from…read morethem (Ford Transit SL19VBN) which 4 days later appeared to have an oil leak. Rang Lonsdale and spoke to mark who didn't want to know and told me to ring the warranty company. Was told to stop driving the van immediately and to get it to a garage of my choice to get the diagnostics done. They couldn't 100% identify where it was coming from and told me they had been in touch with warranty wise and they would not cover any costs as it wasn't classed as a breakdown even though I couldn't drive it. The garage advised me to return the van and get my money back. Contacted Lonsdale who then seemed more keen to help after I said I was thinking of returning it. They took it to their own garage for repair but I still had to cover the previous garage costs. It was leaking oil and needed 3 new injectors I was also encouraged by Lonsdale and the garage to have the wet belt changed whilst it was in there which I stupidly took their advice and paid that £550 CASH. All the work was carried out and I got the van back. Couple of weeks later the battery died. not even a week later it broke down in Bristol due to fuel starvation. Me and my 9 year old daughter were stranded on the M32 in the freezing cold for two hours. It took me a further 5 hours to get home. The AA couldn't even get me home as yet again warranty wises ridiculous cover only covers 25 miles breakdown. Got it transported back to the garage whom I originally took it to get diags done again but the battery was dead so they had to fit a new one to do the process. Diags flagged multiple problems which they seemed to think was something wrong with the injectors that were fitted. Told Lonsdale again who told me to ring warranty wise again to arrange pick up but there was an outstanding bill to pay from the garage for the battery and attempted diags which surprise surprise warranty wise wouldn't cover again(honestly this company is a joke). I was tamping. I sent the bill to Lonsdale for them to sort out but they just moaned at me telling me it was too expensive and a fraudulent bill but refused to ring the garage baring in mind they were quick enough to ring warranty wise and their garage to have a good old gripe about it. Again I had to pick up the bill, luckily I spoke nicely to the garage and they took back the battery and charged me £50 for a bit of labour. Lonsdale offered to get the van transported to their garage again to be fixed but I had enough and said I'm returning the van and want a refund, their response was in that case it's your responsibility to get it to us. I rang the AA to transport it (the cover through warranty wise) and yep that's right it's not covered as iv already used my 25 miles on the same break down. I had to privately pay £235 for transport. The van finally made it to their garage. Lonsdale said they would do the diagnostics on it as soon as they got it back to see if there was any fowl play by the other garage then give me my deposit back. Spoke to mark and he said they ordered a new battery which would be in the next day then it could be checked and I could have my deposit back. Next day I rang multiple times and was fobbed off with excuses and mark wasn't returning my calls baring in mind there was only a couple of days until another finance payment was due which I'm sure they were well aware of. Spoke to the garage the next day and all of a sudden they were so busy they couldn't look at it until at least the week later. That was it, I rang the finance company and stopped the payment and put in a complaint about them. Finally got my deposit back a few days later after sending them an email threatening that I would go to trading standards and report them everywhere I could. In all being sold a dodgy van from Lonsdale has cost me well over £1000, a load of stress and has effected my business. Which I never stepped foot in the place. Go elsewhere people.

Last September (2015) I purchased a van for £11102.02 from Lonsdale Vehicle Sales in Wattsville,…read moreNewport. It was a box van and I was told by Dave the salesman that it had come from Harrods and was very clean. I paid over the phone by card and also paid for a warranty and delivery to my drivers address in Nottingham. I was desperate for the van as I had already taken a huge amount of delivery bookings and employed a driver who had been recently made redundant to do the work for me. On the Saturday morning that the vehicle arrived, my driver sent me a message to say that he was very concerned about the vehicle, It had a large gouge up one side and was an ex Graham's the plumbers vehicle not Harrods at all. I immediately contacted Dave at Lonsdale who was so abusive that I sat in tears, I couldn't believe that a company would substitute the vehicle and try to fob me off with an inferior one in its place and then when I called them to discuss it be so aggressive. I was also in a terrible situation that I had taken thousands of pounds worth of delivery bookings and if I returned the vehicle immediately I would have to return all of the money that I have taken for the deliveries, still pay my driver and also receive terrible feedback online for my business, I had also insured the vehicle which when you are running a courier firm is very expensive and and I stood to loose hundreds of pounds changing the vehicle. After several hours of abuse and me being in tears, the owners at Lonsdale agreed that they would repair the vehicle once I could get it back to their garage several hundred miles away and would tax it for six months as gesture of goodwill. I was so brow beaten I didn't know what else to do, but then the next day started more and more aggressive abuse and dishonest behaviour. First of all they tried to put the van back in their name at the DVLA, then they kept texting me and writing to me telling me that they were taking the vehicle from the road. I explained that I had paid for a vehicle and that although they hadn't delivered the vehicle that I had purchased I had been backed into a corner to use it and that it was full of third party goods. The reply from Lonsdale was that they didn't care and would be holding the goods also. Weeks of abuse and threatening emails, texts and letters followed, I was never given a date to have the vehicle repaired and in fact it never was repaired. Approximately 6 weeks after I purchased the van, the engine totally blew up in Central London. It was towed to a garage where it was deemed to be beyond economic repair and it wasn't covered by the warranty that I had been sold by Lonsdale and so I wrote to Lonsdale's solicitors rejecting the vehicle as not fit for purpose. They immediately collected the vehicle, repaired it and put it back up for sale on Ebay, then about one month after this they removed the item from Ebay and sent a letter the next day including an invoice for over £1200 including nearly £50 for non payment of the bill that I hadn't ever been sent before saying that they had recovered the vehicle 'as per my instruction' and I needed to pay this money to get it back. I informed them that I rejected the vehicle as not fit for purpose and had not given them any instruction whatsoever to recover the vehicle and repair it. Nor had they at any point previous to recovering the vehicle had they informed me that they would not be taking the vehicle back as unfit for purpose or that there would be a charge to recover it. I had obviously rejected the vehicle and they had repaired it and put it back up for sale, they then changed their mind almost a month later presumably because they couldn't sell the vehicle. My story is much longer than this and I have a huge amount of supporting evidence for which I am constructing a website which will go live by the end of this week, please see me on www.lonsdalevehiclesale.co.uk Please whatever you do, don't buy from these people, they are crooks and they are still holding the van and all of my money.
