In July, I purchased a $700 pass for 10 personal training sessions as part of a "summer special", with the promise that a master's-educated trainer would be available. Unfortunately, that trainer never started working at the gym, and I was not informed of this until late September--months after waiting and following up. Despite knowing my schedule, Randy repeatedly suggested trainers who were already fully booked. He then set me up with an unqualified intern who worked at the front desk. When I expressed my concerns, he acknowledged that this wasn't acceptable and offered Pilates as an alternative. However, that turned out to be another false promise, as no sessions or teachers were actually available. After months of back and forth and empty promises, I requested a refund, as it was clear I was not receiving the services I had paid for. Randy initially agreed but then delayed the refund, citing financial excuses like needing to wait until after the "metro gala." By November, I still hadn't received my money, and he stopped responding to my calls and texts entirely. Now it is mid January. This has been a frustrating and disheartening experience, especially as someone in a low-paying position after completing graduate school. I share this in hopes of warning others about this gym and Randy's business practices. If anyone has advice on handling situations like this, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. As an aside, I had a bad experience with a trainer there who was really creepy and asked extremely personal questions. Most of the gym is dedicated to the personal training space. There are never wipes or cleaning supplies convenient or restocked to clean equipment after use.

I use the gym facilities (including the eGym system which is very cool), and we have thought about taking advantage of some of the childcare options they offer like "parents night out" The place hasn't changed a ton since it first opened. You go to clean off any equipment and a rust like color comes off on the towel -- barbells and dumbbells included. Just using weights there makes you feel gross because of how much filth and neglect they've experienced. There's a pool and a hot tub but I've never used them. Given the state of everything else, I couldn't trust it. Mirrors are cracked all over the gym, the ceiling leaks in several spots. For what you are asked to pay and what you get in return -- this place isn't worth it. CNY doesn't have a shortage of quality gyms. Champions misses the mark by a mile.

The worst of the staff, SM, claims that she has been there since 1994, and her attitude is as though she has hated every day of it. She has no problem making snide comments about gym members as they enter the workout area, not caring that she can be heard. There is only a partition between the front desk and the hallway to the locker rooms and she can clearly be heard making rude remarks. When you walk into the workout area, you are met with a long corridor. On each side, is the most antiquated workout equipment you could imagine. The gym has been in existence since 1990, and they obviously have saved most of that equipment that is in use to this day. They do have 2 "pools", one is a swimming pool to the left as you go down the corridor, the other is pretty much a cesspool that is by the 2 universal machines at the back of the workout area. There is always a leak there, and especially during the summer or when it rains, you cannot use the universal machine under that area. Also during the summer, it is sweltering hot in the workout area. No fans and no air conditioning, and it is hard to breathe because it is stifling. There is a big unit in the ceiling that may or may not be the AC unit, but because it leaks so much, they don't turn it on. I would not recommend their personal trainers as they look as though they could use a personal trainer, themselves. I have noticed when a negative comment is left, the "gym owner" leaves comments such as "you should have told my staff", yet these issues have not been resolved. The gym manager, Christy, is in the workout area every single day. She sees the problems with the gym and her staff and yet, neither issue is ever fixed. The environment in this gym is not healthy physically or mentally. What some staff members like SM seem to forget is that we are dues paying members, which is where their salaries come from.

Since everything has opened up it is a lot more chill- lots of different people all working out together, mellower music and overall a better vibe. In the middle of the day, there usually isn't too many people there, but later on towards the evening it starts getting more busy. They also offer several classes, Zumba being one of them, but I haven't looked into any details. There is a full locker room with lockers, shower, toilets, and sinks for the regular visits. Out near the machines is a water fountain and scale to weigh oneself. All-in-all it is a well featured gym with plenty of ways to get and stay in shape.

The group as a whole is super supportive. From new folks to obvious veterans they'll all be cheering you to the finish line, screaming great job and keep it up as you push to the end. I never imagined being the guy that woke up excited to see my little gym group, but here I am. From day one I felt welcome and included, and I think that's what makes this space so great. The spin classes with Allie, Amber and Heather have been a great addition for me as well, comparatively to my peloton my Apple Watch always reads a stronger workout with them. I do more classes here than I do home for that reason alone. If I had to find a complaint, it would be that I bought a peloton and haven't cancelled my other traditional gym membership long before hand.
