We used Steve for our engagement and wedding day photography. We cannot put into words how grateful we are for the incredible work Steve and Aubrey produced. They didn't just take pictures--they documented the emotions, the energy, and the love that surrounded us on our special day. Every photo feels like a moment frozen in time, capturing not just what we looked like but how we felt. From the quiet, intimate moments to the laughter and joy shared with family and friends, their artistry brought every feeling back to life. Their attention to detail and ability to make us feel comfortable in front of the camera was unmatched. We never felt posed or staged--everything was so natural and authentic. Also, Steve was great at keeping the important people at the forefront, often times things are so hectic you lose placements, and Steve went above and beyond to capture the right folks. His talent goes far beyond taking great photos; they truly tell a story with each shot. If you're looking for someone who can capture more than just images but the true essence of your day, look no further. We are so thankful for the timeless memories they've given us, and we will cherish these photos forever. read more

Steve Koo is a friendly, cheerful, happy, and incredibly skilled photographer. In all of our consultations with him he was smiling and so excited for the adventure of our wedding to take place. He got to know us personally, so that he would know what was important for us to be captured on the day of the wedding. He even became quick friends with our two rambunctious dogs on our engagement shoot! He showed up full of energy on the wedding day, and chose an excellent second photographer as well. The range of photos he provided us range from the classic portraits (at our request) to broad, expansive, and epic photos that capture the majestic backdrop we were lucky enough to have. He was always responsive and prompt with any questions or concerns we had, and truly cared about making us happy customers. We would highly recommend Steve, and are glad we chose him! read more

Finally getting around to writing wedding vendor reviews and I HAVE to start with my favorite. Steve is incredible at what he does. If I could afford to have someone follow me around forever and take photos of my daily life a la Beyonce, it would be Steve. He's great at capturing candid moments that so many other photographers would likely miss. On our wedding day, he was the perfect balance of delightful and invisible. He's super friendly and all interactions with him were easy/fun, but he was also amazingly unobtrusive throughout the ceremony and reception. I don't even remember seeing him through most of the reception but the photos don't lie. Of all the decisions we had to make while planning our wedding, booking Steve was by far the best! read more

Better late than never for this review on Steve and his assistants who captured our very special day exactly 1 year ago to the date! A good friend and amazing talent, Steve was there to get all the special memories of my wife and I in Chicago as we celebrated our marriage. His professionalism, communication, and ability to snap the perfect photo was seen throughout and we can't thank him enough for all the incredible shots not only at the wedding and ceremony, but on the lead up as we captured photos throughout the City. We have nothing but incredible things to say about our experience working with Steve. From our first conversation with him, it was clear how passionate and talented he is. My now husband and I are far from comfortable in front of the camera, but Steve made the whole process feel natural and fun. On our wedding day, he calmly kept things incredibly organized, directing and keeping things moving. When we got our pictures, we were amazed by how much it felt like we were right back in the day - certainly cause for some happy tears. The pure joy and emotion you can truly feel when looking at the photos, and all without looking posed or inauthentic. We would without question recommend Steve to anyone in need of a rockstar wedding photographer! read more

Steve is the best! He travelled from Chicago to South Carolina for our destination wedding in May 2022 (after rescheduling with us after our original date in July 2020), and I can't imagine having a better photographer. We knew from way back when we did our pre-COVID engagement shoot that he would put us at ease and get some really fun shots, and I'm sure the wedding photos will be gorgeous too. He and his assistant were such a pleasure to work with, I can't recommend them enough. read more

The second that I saw Steve Koo's website I was sold! My husband and I could not be more thrilled with how our photos came out. We can't even narrow down which photos we want for a photo album! Steve has the most amazing ability at catching emotions or moments in his photos and every time I look at the photos it is like I am back at the wedding or in that moment. Steve was perfect throughout the entire process. He is extremely organized and great at communicating. He was even nice enough to send a day of emergency kit! My whole wedding party was extremely comfortable around him and everyone was so impressed at how dedicated to the job he was. He was laying down on the street, in the sand on the beach and managed to capture so many funny moments without us even knowing he was there. Steve was by far my favorite vendor and he was worth every penny. I am so thankful to have such beautiful photos and memories from the day. read more

Choosing a photographer was the number one, most important decision in my mind. We really wanted somebody that had a truly unique style without being too "artsy"... We had interviewed three photographers before we found Steve Koo and my husband and I looked at each other after meeting Steve and both said "he's the one." Steve likes to get to know his clients prior to shooting their wedding day, so we took him out on what we would consider a typical Friday night for us as our "engagement session" - barbecue, bowling, and karaoke. The fact that he could make three of the dive-iest places that we know look stunning is a testament to his amazing skill. The day of our wedding, Steve Koo and his assistants were EVERYWHERE! They captured so many amazing, beautiful, and touching moments that I would have never seen if it wasn't for them. His professionalism and sense of humor make him such a pleasure to work with, I can't wait to have him document the next major events in our lives! read more

Steve is the best! We hired him and an assistant of his for our wedding a couple of weeks ago and he was so fun and professional and made sure we got all of the photos we wanted. The entire process was seamless and simple from booking all the way up to the actual day of. They spent the entire day and evening with us. He even sent us a sneak peak video slideshow of some images and it was such a tease because they were so awesome we cannot wait to see the entire album. Our experience was so wonderful and Steve and his assistant photographer were such a pleasure to be with all day! I cannot say enough great things-- hire Steve, you will NOT be disappointed! read more

Steve is an incredible photographer. Not only were every single one of his photos stunning, he made us all feel comfortable throughout the entire day. Having someone take your picture non-stop for 10 hours can be awkward, but Steve has a process to get everyone used to it and his easy-going demeanor put everyone at ease. He was a shadow at the perfect moments, making sure to capture them without being in the way, and checked in on key guests always at the appropriate time. Steve really excels at candid photos- he captures the feeling and atmosphere in each picture. He gets the dancing, the perfect facial expressions, the personality of the wedding. Also, trust his website, the pictures he has on it are indicative of the quality of pictures he actually takes. Hire him, you won't regret it. read more

Steve photographed both my Sister and her husband's micro-wedding in 2020 (when they had to postpone their actual wedding), as well as their recent vow-renewal and celebration in 2021. As a wedding planner, I referred my Sister and brother-in-law to Steve and I'm so glad I did. He is such a talented photographer and his calming, yet fun, and professional nature is the perfect personality to have on wedding day. He made everyone feel so comfortable and managed the schedule so well. I simply cannot wait to see the magic that he produced from last weekend's celebration! You will be in beyond wonderful hands with Steve behind his camera on your wedding day! Thank you, Steve!! read more

Steve Koo doesn't just give you photos...he gives you a priceless and irreplaceable gift. Our wedding photos are breathtaking, and are so valuable to us, our family, and our wedding guests. He captured every moment as vividly as I remember it. The colors are bold, the action is exciting, and I can look at any photo and remember exactly what was happening and what I was thinking when the moment was captured. Steve Koo and his team are brilliant. As many have mentioned, he is very kind, calm, and makes everyone feel incredibly comfortable. He was FUN to take photos with. I wouldn't consider going to anyone else for photography needs today or in the future. Thank you Steve Koo Photography for giving us the most exquisite photos for us to enjoy for years to come! read more

My husband and I got married on Kauai in February 2011 and Steve was our photographer. Steve and I had been aquaintences for quite a while before we hired him for our wedding & engagement photos. I knew I loved his style of photography & I knew he was a cool guy... but what would it be like to work together? The answer is AWESOME! My husband I live in Chicago and Steve did our engagement session here in our Logan Square neighborhood. We weren't sure about doing an engagement session, especially my husband, but the photos turned out great & will be keepsakes for life. If nothing else, doing the engagement session helped us get used to seeing Steve with a camera pointing at us before the big day! For our wedding we had Steve fly out to Kauai. He was super easy to work with to get this coordinated & always prompt and professional throughout the entire process. On the day of the wedding, Steve was all over the place, capturing every moment, but not in an intrusive way at all. I get very self-conscious when I am being photographed and Steve was able to put me, and everyone, at ease. Our photographs turned out fantastic. Our friends & family, and most importantly, my husband and I, are thrilled with the end result. The wedding photos that Steve took really convey the spirit of our wedding day. We were so thankful to have Steve in Hawaii with us. We have a lot of friends who got married last year and a few this year and we have highly recommended Steve to every one of them! read more

Steve did our engagement photos and this weekend shot our wedding in Chicago. I haven't seen the wedding pics yet, but if they're anything like the engagement photos they'll be fabulous. Steve has been so easy to work with--from the initial emails and meeting, to the engagement photos we invited him to take in our home, to the day of our wedding he has been friendly, patient, easy to talk to, professional, and has done really great work with the photos themselves. Just like another reviewer said, Steve was all over the place on the day of the wedding, taking shots of just about everything, but without being intrusive at all. We're a little camera shy and he really put us at ease. I read a lot of photographers' Yelp reviews and looked at their websites before choosing Steve and found that great photos don't come cheap, but they are absolutely worth it. Steve's prices were very competitive with other photographers whose work I liked. You can't go wrong with this guy. read more

Steve was great to work with! We live about an hour and a half outside Chicago, and he came out to us to do our engagement shoot. He was so easy to work with, and made us comfortable, both during our engagement session and at the wedding. On the wedding day, he seemed to be everywhere that something important was happening, but was not obtrusive and for most of the day, I didn't even realize he was there. He was also willing to go out and take some nighttime shots with us in the rain/snow, and made sure to get all the shots we want, but made sure to get us back as quickly as possible so we didn't miss much of our party. We got our pictures back about a month and a half after the wedding, and they are amazing! The pictures capture the mood of the day perfectly, and have a great mix of non-stuffy portraits, and candids. Would definitely recommend Steve! read more

Oh my goodness, I don't even know where to begin! Steve is absolutely incredible, I fell in love with his pictures when we started looking for downtown venues; I noticed very early on that each photo I was fawning over happened to be his work. And the rest is history! From our original Skype consultation to engagement photos and walking down the aisle, Steve exudes professionalism, warmth, and expertise. It's evident that this is his passion and true calling, I couldn't be more grateful for our favorite day to have been captured so perfectly. Our June wedding was a hot one at 94 degrees, but looking at him you'd never know he had been going nonstop from 10-10pm. He was always eager to go above and beyond, and did so with a smile; whether that was jumping on a window sill to get the perfect angle, or literally laying down in the middle of LaSalle Street as cars sped by with congratulatory honks. His assistant was also incredible, she managed to capture so many moments during our reception that my family can't stop talking about. We have a gallery of 800+ images, and can honestly say that we love each and every one. Words just can't do his work justice, he is a wonderful person, and an outstanding photographer. Thank you Steve! We are so ridiculously happy. read more

We just got our wedding photos back from Steve and they are amazing! He took photos of everything, but somehow was never in the way at all. No one even noticed him, but turns out he was everywhere taking photos. The photos are outstanding. Most photos are candid so they really show what happened throughout the wedding. They are the best candid photos I've ever seen. Steve also took some outdoor photos of us at night that look like they belong in a magazine. The weather was not what we expected and I love the photos even more because of it. Steve made a cloudy Chicago day look super dramatic and interesting in our pictures. He can work with everything. We did family photos really quickly to save time, and he still got a perfect shot for each request. Aside from the quality of his work, Steve is pretty cool. He was extremely patient and kind, really good at subtly directing people for the few posed photos we did, and very pleasant to be around. Even after seeing tons of his work before booking him, he still exceeded our expectations. You should book him. He's the best. read more

It is hard to put into words how thrilled we were (and still are!) to have Steve as our wedding photographer. He perfectly captured the essence of our special day and told a story that not only reflected our love and happiness, but the joy we derived from friends and family who celebrated with us. Steve is kind, patient, and extremely professional, and it was such a privilege to work with him. We will cherish our gorgeous photos forever -- thank you, Steve!! read more

We had an amazing experience with Steve! Right when we got engaged I began researching photographers, because that was one of the most important elements of our wedding (for me). We made a short list but Steve was definitely #1 on that list. We were thrilled he was available for our wedding date and that we got the opportunity to hire him. He made everything super easy leading up to the wedding with a questionnaire a few weeks out that helped him gather all the information he needed (agenda, photo groupings, style preferences, etc.). And we did a quick phone call the week before to do a final run through. Steve was kind, thoughtful and a true expert through all of this. I definitely looked to him for input on planning and logistics along the way and he was willing to help no matter what questions I threw at him. The day of was an even better experience. Steve was professional, nimble (sounds weird - but you'll know what I mean when you work with him!) and incredibly talented. Within the first hour of him being with us, I knew our photos were going to be amazing. There wasn't a moment he missed - from big to small. He was also very diligent about capturing special requests we had (i.e. detail shots of my dress, etc.). We had full trust in him and never, not once looked around and said, "where's Steve?!". He didn't miss anything! And our guests noticed it too. They all told me how impressed they were with him and how it seemed like he was everywhere at once! And kudos goes out to his assistant, Yvone too! Who was also very kind and talented. Steve put together a very sweet slideshow for our sneak peek. We were thrilled with what we were seeing and were so eager to get our full photo album. When it finally arrived in my inbox, it did not disappoint. We are over the moon with the quality, aesthetic and priceless value of our wedding photos. They are stunning and there's nothing else I can say about it! I am so grateful that we found Steve and had the chance to work with him. I highly recommend him! Thank you so much, Steve! read more

My husband and I hired Steve to photograph our wedding for our wedding in Lake Geneva, WI in May of 2018. I would give Steve 10 stars if I could. First, he is incredibly talented. I knew I wanted to hire him after looking through his work. Steve is an artist. Very impressed with the quality of his photos. His photos speak for themselves. Follow him on Instagram! Second, he turns things around in a very timely manner. He got us our engagement photos in less than two weeks and we receive a preview of our wedding photos a couple of weeks after our wedding as well! Last, Steve is so kind and easy to work with. He showed up early to our wedding to scope picture spots. He was able to give direction without being demanding. So many people in my wedding party said how much they loved Steve! My friends called him the photo ninja- he would get on the ground and get into odd positions for the perfect shot. Thank you Steve for capturing our memories! I would highly recommend Steve to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. read more

If we only had three words to describe Steve, we'd pick: nicest, friendliest, and most professional vendor for our entire wedding. Actually, we had Steve for our engagement photos, too. It's really hard to describe what Steve does until you see it in person. Whether it was organizing our families who were out of place in photos, or simply checking in with us intermittently, Steve did it all. You can certainly check out his photos and blog reviews. As great as those are, nothing can do justice to how exceptional Steve is at his craft. Steve will literally find ways to capture the moments perfectly - sliding on the dance floor, standing atop furniture, and even putting his balance to the test. We had more people asking for Steve's contact information at the end of the night than people eating dessert (and our dessert was delicious!). We absolutely adore Steve and cannot even find the right words to encapsulate our gratitude for his work. read more

I would highly recommend working with Steve for any important occasion. We had Steve do our wedding and engagement photos, and he's also worked at two of our friend's wedding ceremonies. The quality of his work is unquestionable, and he is excellent in managing any situation to ensure you get the most of your session with him. With his consultation, we were able to plan our photos perfectly and he captured our big day in a way that we'll be able to look back on and enjoy forever. read more

I met Steve when he volunteered to photograph a charity event I helped organize. Once I saw his photography, I fell in love with his style and ability to capture really natural moments (instead of stiff "I am utterly aware I am being photographed" moments). I had Steve take pics of me for professional use. I am in social media so I needed a picture for many accounts. Not a week goes by without someone asking me who did them or telling me how gorgeous the photography is. Without a doubt, I will call Steve for any and all future photogaphy jobs. read more

There is a reason Steve gets all 5-star reviews - he deserves them. While planning our wedding, my (now) wife and I found Steve on Yelp. We were impressed with his reviews, so we scheduled a meeting at his home. Steve didn't need to do much selling to us, his work samples spoke for themselves. We were impressed with the professionalism of the photos, as well as his ability to capture moments ... the fact that I would say something that corny should be a pretty powerful statement. Don't listen to my drivel about how good the pictures are, go check out his website. Again, the quality speaks for itself. What the work samples don't show is how great it is to work with Steve. We did our complimentary engagement photos with him a couple weeks before our wedding, which served as a great warm-up and got us comfortable working with him. He was completely accommodating to our schedule and we were really happy with the results. At the wedding, Steve was extremely professional and accommodating; he managed our large family for portraits with ease, he made sure we had the photos we wanted, and was completely non-obtrusive throughout the process (while still managing to capture everything). Everyone who's seen the pictures has been extremely impressed. One of our guests noticed him literally crawling on our dance floor to get a shot. After the wedding, while he was in the process of editing photos, he picked some to send us early, which was greatly appreciated as we were eager to see them. One amazing (and unexpected) touch he put together was a slideshow complete with music that ran through the evening chronologically and captured the essence throughout. At the end, Steve sent us CD's with all of our edited photos (completely free of any watermarking), to use as we saw fit. That was an amazing perk of working with Steve (he never pressured us unduly into doing prints through him). I need to reiterate that the quality of the photos themselves was outstanding. Steve has a great eye and produces excellent work. Again, check out his website. We were extremely happy that we chose Steve as the photographer for our wedding. Both his professionalism and quality of work were outstanding. We will look at his work for years to come with nothing but fond memories. read more

Steve took some "Wall hanger worthy" engagement photographs a few weeks ago. He was very patient with us during the process especially when the weather did not cooperate the first time around. Steve Koo is an extraordinary photographer with an exceptional eye for quality, artistic photo documentation. He delivered above and beyond our expectations and put us at ease every step of the way. While searching for a wedding photographer, our friends recommended Steve, having previously been at a wedding he photographed. They really liked his photos and sent us the link to his work. We fell in love with Steve's ability to capture moments. The photos did not look forced or posed. They were a natural and beautiful documentation of the wedding day. For every wedding Steve books, he includes an engagement session. The engagement session was a great way for us to get comfortable with the idea of being photographed all day at our wedding. I think having the engagement session helped me to relax, ignore the inevitable cameras, and enjoy our beautiful day. Steve met us at our house and walked wih us around our neighborhood, taking pictures of us. It was easy to schedule the engagement session as Steve was flexible and easy to work with . After the engagement session, we felt even more at ease and happy that we had made the decision to hire Steve. The day of the wedding was unbearably hot, but from start to finish, Steve was poised, friendly, and kind-natured. Several guests of the wedding commented on how much they liked our photographer and people are still raving about the photos. He was also very timely in getting us our images. I highly recommend Steve Koo Photography and would choose him again in a heartbeat. read more

From my wedding research, I concluded that in general, all brides and grooms are happy or satisfied with their wedding photos and why not!? It's a super special day where you and your spouse (hopefully) look your best and share beautiful memories...of course you're going love looking at your pictures... Well, my husband and I are no different. We absolutely love our wedding photos! We were so lucky to find Steve, someone whose work and professionalism we had full confidence in. We would highly recommend Steve to anyone and everyone! read more

What can we say about Steve Koo? He is absolutely excellent at what he does and we love him!! We chose Steve Koo as our wedding photographer, and have been 200% ecstatic about his work. Based on his portfolio and his website, while perusing different photographers for our wedding, he was the first person we met and interviewed--and the last! We felt an instant rapport with him and we knew he was our guy. Just talking to him and looking at his prints on paper, and the vibrant colors that captured the essence and emotion of that moment in time, we booked him that day--and never looked back. We wanted more of a photojournalist approach to document our day, and he was awesome. Just as importantly, he is a super professional and easy guy to work with. We had our engagement photo session with him, which was great in a few ways as it got us to know each other, and for us to 'practice' just being us for the wedding and that it wouldn't be overwhelming or weird to have someone follow us and take pictures all day. So if there was 10 stars we would give it to him....why? Because we had Steve shoot for us the entire day starting at 8am all the way to the reception that night. We had a vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning that required meeting at one house, driving to another, and driving back to my (the groom's) house for the full blown tea ceremony. This is also a great moment to holler out at his ALSO FANTASTIC 2nd photographer Deb. She was there for the long haul as well. 14 hours of being around our family and friends without a complaint, even through the breakdowns and craziness and tense moments of deciding about yea or nay on an outside ceremony due to weather. They both were there shooting, capturing the moments, but was never in the way or intrusive, yet was able to completely get everything on photo. But most importantly for you readers to know is that we couldn't be more happy with his product. He captured the love, the happiness, the crazy fun time we had at the reception, special moments between our parents and friends and plenty more of candids. We were seriously blown away by Steve Koo (and Deb). And to that testament, we just moved to MA, and when we have a baby or another huge event, we will either fly back or fly him out. And if you're still reading, lastly and the best way to describe Steve Koo's work is from the words of my cousin, who lives in Vietnam, and was not there at the wedding, but saw our pictures....she said "...looking at the pictures is like something I have never seen before, it was like watching a movie and seeing the wedding, and being able to feel the same emotions depicted on the pictures....it was really like a story book that didn't get old or boring, it was exciting..." Thanks Steve! --Tai and Lauren read more

We recently had Steve over for a family photo shoot. Already being familiar with Steve's wedding photos, we knew going in that the pictures themselves would be excellent. What really impressed us, however, was how great Steve was with our 1 year old daughter. He created a fun, comfortable atmosphere that allowed her be herself. She got to play and have fun while Steve did all the work. He worked us into the pictures at times but kept his focus on the star of the show. The results were fantastic and we now have some beautiful family photos that we can cherish for years to come. We can't thank Steve enough and would recommend him to anyone without hesitation. read more

Steve and his assistant, Mari, were amazing to work with. Steve spent the entire day climbing, bending, kneeling, and running (sometimes up a "down" escalator) to capture our moments. While he is very high energy, he has a calming presence and instantly felt like an old friend -- very important for someone you spend so much time with. I had multiple guests come up to me and comment on how awesome he was. I would absolutely book again. Cannot wait to see the finished product! read more

As my fiancée were planning our wedding, we both agreed that having a good wedding photographer was very important to us both. And in the end, we were lucky enough to work with Steve Koo and his talented team, whose work and complete professionalism throughout the process totally blew us away. Steve and his team were a pleasure to work with throughout the wedding planning process and on our wedding day. As we were planning, Steve promptly responded to all of our questions and was helpful in collaborating with us to ensure that he captured all of the important moments of our day(places to shoot, timing, etc.). Our big Indian wedding was very chaotic from the minute that the day began, and Steve and his team worked through the chaos to capture the best moments seamlessly. We received MANY compliments from our guests about how the team did a great job of working in the shadows to capture every moment of the day. Steve and his team arrived at our venue early and stayed even later than we expected to capture the whole event, and as a result, captured some great moments in the evening. A few weeks after our wedding, we saw our pictures and were beyond impressed with how beautiful the pictures were and the moments that Steve and his team were able to capture. We loved his style and how his photos really captured the emotions of the day. A few weeks after the wedding, Steve provided us with a slideshow that gave us a sneak peek at some of our pictures, and it was beautifully made - I must have watched it a hundred times, and was moved by it every time. Thank you Steve for giving us such great photographs to commemorate one of the most important days of our lives - it was really a pleasure working with you!! read more

I hired Steve Koo to take some pictures for an upcoming birthday. Sort of a present to myself. I am very nervous about getting my pictures taken and Steve made me feel very relaxed. I actually had a great time. I brought different accessories and some wardrobe changes and we chatted about The Housewives of Atlanta.I was surprised at how easy it was to be relaxed, but Steve just kept chatting to me while he took pictures. It was like being with an old friend. He's very confident, easygoing and professional. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants elegant, creative photography. read more

Steve is, without a doubt, a specatular photographer! He and I had a portrait session on Clearwater beach, and I could not be happier with the results! Steve is both extremely professional AND personable. Although we hadn't met prior to our shoot, it felt as though we were old friends. I felt extremely comfortable, and he was great at directing me in regards to poses, etc. He is always looking for a new angle/position to shoot from, and it is definitely exemplified in the finished product. My photos had stunning color and looked extremely natural (which is what I was hoping for)! On top of that, once the session was over, Steve was incredibly prompt in delivering the photos to me. I would definitely recommend Steve for your photography needs; he is fantastic! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Steve Koo. After the wonderful engagement shoot Steve did for us, we just knew we had to have him at our wedding. For a girl who does not feel particularly comfortable in front of the camera, I felt extremely confident knowing Steve was behind the lens on the biggest day of my life (the man was even nice enough to carry my lip gloss during the post-ceremony photo shoot). His contemporary style and amazing attention to detail captured the fun and elegance of our big day in a way that I had not seen from other photographers we spoke with. His professionalism and personality set me at ease and helped to enhance the joy of our big day! I would highly recommend Steve for any photography needs....his photo journalistic style is perfect for family portraits too! read more

I honestly don't even know where to start because I can't seem to say enough good things about Steve Koo. Seriously, prepare for major gushing. Let's just put it this way: I presented my (then) fiance with about 5 possible wedding photographers. He looked at all of their portfolios and said that it absolutely had to be Steve Koo. No question. Thankfully Steve was available on our wedding day and we wasted no time booking him straightaway. As soon as the venue was set and that date locked in, he was the first vendor we booked. From the start Steve was a pleasure to work with. He made the process so straightfoward and simple that we didn't even meet him until the wedding day! We just had so much confidence in him that we knew he had everything together. When we did finally meet Steve on the day of the wedding, it was like meeting an old friend. He and his assistant, Cara (Kara?), were so easygoing and friendly that we all felt instantly comfortable having them around. Obviously Steve was hard at work taking photos, but he is so awesome that when we had time to kill we just wanted to sit there and chat with him! So I apologize, Steve, that we kept trying to distract you from working - be less awesome! From a photography standpoint, the whole wedding was fun and easy. Steve walked us through the "First Look" and portraits - where to stand, how to hold our arms, where to look - and stayed in the shadows during the ceremony and reception in order to catch the most amazing candids. He captured moments that we weren't really aware of and moments that we had missed completely. My Maid of Honor and I still joke how Steve seemed to be everywhere - he was standing on a (swivel!) chair, lying (in his suit!) on the ground, behind me fixing my dress - and yet nowhere because he was never in the way, his presence was never overt or conspicuous. Prior to the wedding Steve had sent us a questionnaire, which asked about our honeymoon plans. I had no idea why but I trusted in Steve and rolled with it. When we returned from our honeymoon, though, we immediately received an email from him with our wedding slideshow. It was so thoughtful and the perfect cap to what was already such a perfect wedding experience. The slideshow itself was gorgeous and really did a fantastic job summing up the entire day. We had a great time sharing it with friends and family. When we did receive all the photos, we were really blown away despite already seeing a sampling in the slideshow. The photos are so vibrant and he captures emotion so well. It seemed like he really was everywhere because he caught everything. We weren't originally planning on ordering a wedding album because my (now) husband and I aren't the sentimental types, but Steve's photos turned us into the sentimental types! The photos are so incredible that we realized we did need an album after all; these photos were meant to be shown off because they're so thoughtful and well executed. Everyone told us that no matter what, spend the money and hire a great photographer. You're paying so much for an event that, when it really comes down to it, passes by in an instant. All that planning and the whole thing just goes so quickly! It's really important to have those photos afterwards to appreciate long after the music has stopped, the cake has been eaten, and the last vendor paid. We couldn't be happier with Steve and his work. I have to force myself to stop writing this review because, like I warned...gushing. read more

It's almost scary to see your wedding pictures after you've formed an image in your mind of what that amazing day was like. You want to retain that image as it was, colored with all the emotion that you were feeling as the day unfolded. Steve Koo's photography has this incredible ability of being able to bring those moments held in your mind's eye to life. What are the things you look for when choosing a wedding photographer? You want somebody professional, courteous and kind, flexible, creative, unobtrusive, and someone who has that special intangible ability to bring out the magic of your day. I can easily say that Steve Koo possesses all of these qualities. Because both my husband and I were living on opposite coasts and I sustained a broken bone just prior to our wedding, we were unable to meet with Steve beforehand or partake in the complimentary engagement photos sessions. Nevertheless, I could tell by our easy and prompt online and phone communications that everything was going to be just fine. And I was right. He and his assistant showed up right on time, were present without being in the way, were flexible in every regard, and captured some amazingly beautiful and creative shots. But don't just take it from me, here's what my friends said upon seeing the pictures (which, by the way, came only 2 short weeks after the wedding!): "Just lovely." "They are beautiful! Can't wait to see more." "These pictures are beautiful as are you S... We almost went with Steve Koo (and wish we had). Congrats!" "these are really really beautiful. soft and natural and poetry like. i love it!" "Stunning!! Congrats!" "Wow, Such wonderful pictures! Congratulations to all of you!" "Magnificent!!! What an artist! He captured the magic of your day! " "just love these photos" "Ah-mazing!!!" "The professional wedding shots have a very ethereal quality..." What more needs to be said? Choose Steve-- you won't be disappointed. read more

Another stellar review for Steve Koo and his crew. Apart from being nice, friendly, and calm, Steve also happens to be a great photographer! Our wedding photos from last May are phenomenal. Steve captured all the best moments throughout the entire day and night. His photos really tell the story of the wedding and they are so wonderful to look back on. I highly recommend Steve. He and Mari were a pleasure to work with throughout the wedding process. read more

We were lucky enough to have Steve photograph our wedding and it was the best decision we could have ever made! Steve is so talented and he truly captured everyone's personalities in the photos. We feel so lucky to have had such a gifted photographer document our special day and capture so many special moments that most other photographers wouldn't have even noticed. If you are looking for someone to capture the story of your special day, working with Steve is the way to go! read more

We hired Steve and his awesome assistant, Mari, to photograph our April ceremony and reception at Cafe Brauer and it was the best money we spent... such a great investment in memories. What make them so great is that (as many of these reviews state) he capures the moment and personality of you, your spouse and everyone around you. The photos were sent to us (via Web Site and Digital images) within a couple weeks of the wedding, plus he gives you a "sneak peak" of a handful of the highlights about 1 week after the wedding. He will take the still portraits that you (and mostly your parents) want, but he really shines in the candid moments. Most of all, he's just really kind and makes you feel so comfortable that everyone forgets the camera is even there. Definitely go with Steve, you will be so satisfied with his work! read more
