Steve & Dukes has created the old school barbershop. They have been cutting my hair for 2 years now and I've yet to have a bad cut. It's $15 for a cut and I'd pay twice that honestly. I need 3 professionals services that are 5 star rated. A Lawyer, a Mechanic and a Barber. They have 3 chairs and they stay busy but the wait is never more than 15 minutes. I've tried all 3 barbers and they all do a great job cleaning me up. The parking is in the back and the shop is kinda small but all in all it's got everything a good barbershop should have. Sports on the tv and lots of good conversation doesn't hurt. The shop is clean and the waiting area has about 8 comfortable chairs and lots of magazines to choose from. Stopped in here on a whim just because i was on that side of town. They offer straight razor shaves and haircuts. They're little high-priced for what they offer . the barber who cut my hair definitely like to talk a lot. You can tell that this is what she does a lot even the owner was there and appeared to be placating her she kind of comes off as a 1960's hippie pothead constantly talking about food. To be honest in the beginning I thought she was high and a little worried about the shave when they said she was the one doing it. But I will give credit where credit is due I've had plenty of shaves over the years even at the fancy places in Vegas and she was definitely good at what she did you did not feel any tugging or pulling. That being said there was a few Nicks and cuts but did not feel them just the red blood afterwards. I give her credit on her shaving ability because sometimes you just can't avoid a Nick or cut. But I don't think I will be driving out of my way to go back. Seems like the barber shops been around for a while . it's a cross between salon / Barbershop with plain walls. The brief interaction I had with what appears to be the owner was pleasant and he seemed to be helping a local charity by buying some stuff from them that day and that is highly respectable. I probably would stop back in if I was on that side of town again just out of the respect for the character of the owner. But probably would ask for a different Barber read more

The people there are very nice and want you to leave with a smile on your face, the lady that cut my hair was really kind and made sure I liked my cut. I have bad eyes and need glasses so I really can't see from the mirror, so she let me put my them on periodically throughout the haircut. Usually other barbers don't even say anything and snip away to what ever they want. Highly recommend read more

I have been going to Steve & Dukes ever since I was in High School. In 24+ years I have seen Duke leave, I have also seen a few other barbers leave as well and it change ownership from Duke, then I believe Cris took over and now Mike. I've have had Marci and Cris cut my hair over the years and was always extremely satisfied. Since Mike took over as the owner he is the only barber that cuts my hair. I never had an issue with the ladies cutting my hair, but its a barbershop not a hair salon. I mean no disrespect to any of the ladies. It's just much easier to relate to a man. Mike is close to my age. Actually he maybe younger than me, so it makes conversing with him extremely easy. I have never had a bad haircut in the 24+yrs that I have had my haircuts there. I would recommend Steve & Dukes to any man. Especially if you enjoy the barbershop atmosphere. If you want great customer service and great prices then this is the barbershop for you. read more

Great spot for a cut! Old fashioned barbershop complete with the barber pole out front. Mike the owner has spruced the place up. Cris the recent owner still works here. Cris has great travel tips! Marcy in most days and Sue even comes back from Florida once in a while. I try to catch them at off midday hours to avoid much of a wait. read more

This place was great, got a really great haircut. It right across from Ace hardware just North of Utica junction on the east side of VanDyke. It has parking in the back and on the north side. There is a front and back door entrance. The barbers are very friendly and greeted me when I entered. Wait time was just a few minutes. I am very satisfied with my hair cut. Great barber shop! There are plenty of barbers closer to me, but it's more than worth it to make the trip here (roughly 30 min). Mike, the owner, gave my son his first hair cut & has been cutting it ever since. There were only three times over the years that I took my son to a closer shop due to conflicting schedules but both my son and I prefer Mike's cuts to anyone else. My son is 16 now and only wants his hair cut by Mike. The shop is nice, clean and well kept and the staff is all super friendly and make you feel comfortable. Highly recommended. read more

Had been a loyal customer for years. Chris was fantastic and always did a great job. Customers were always taken in the order they came in unless they wanted to wait for a specific barber. Last time I was in, three or four people who came in after me were taken first (they don't take appointments). They assumed I was waiting for Mike, the owner. Not the case. He spent too much time talking with his customer about trivial things instead of taking care of business. Won't go there again unless its on a Saturday when Chris is working. read more

I have always used Steve and Duke's as a backup barber shop when my barber isn't open. Well, no more. I'm done. Glad they never were my main barber shop. It's always busy, which isn't a problem because I might come in here once or twice a year. The problem is when the female barber decided to talk politics with her customer that was in her chair. It's not that I agreed or disagreed with her. It's that I'm sick and freaking tired of hearing NOTHING but everyone's political opinions! It's not like the days of Mayberry RFD where everyone came to the barber shop to hear the news. As a society we are BOMBARDED with the news! When I go to get my hair cut I'll talk to the barber about anything. Fishing, golf, the weather, but no more political bull crap. I got up and walked out. I would rather let some dumbass at Great Clips cut my hair that'll not talk about money, politics or religion. If you don't want to lose business than maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself. Always apprehensive about not using my regular barber but i can safely say that I've now added Steve & Dukes to my list of trusted barbershops.
