I have recently moved out after having resided at Tanglewood Terrace for 4 years. During that time…read morethere seems to have been much instability within the management, as we went through several property managers within that time period. Although maintenance requests were addressed in a reasonable amount of time (for the most part), there was never any updates made to the apartment at all in the time I lived there, not a single one. The appliances, rugs, paint, fixtures and pretty much everything about the properties were dated when we got there, let alone 4 years later.
There were several occasions in which the water was shut off without any prior notification. What would it have been to the property management to send our a mass text message or email to the tenants to let them know the water is being shut off? This past winter there was also no hot water for about 48 hours. The laundry facilities on the properties often do not work, and have eaten my money. I even had a maintenance man look at a dryer while it was malfunctioning, and said that nothing could be done - no offer or reimbursement either (even though I told him that this was not the first incident and have been left with wet unclean clothes on several occasions).
The parking lot conditions during the winter time after it snowed were hazardous at best. There was never enforcement of parking for visitors, which made spots limited and I infrequently got a spot close to my apartment. Although there were several notices sent to tenants of the complex regarding cleaning up after their dogs, the complex was often full of dog feces.
Upon moving out, I had met with the most current property manager and was told that I would hear back from him. Although I've put in several calls, left messages, and emailed him there has been radio silence. In the rare event that I did receive a response from the property manager, I was offered excuses that the office has been very busy. Clearly, there seems to be no sense of management or productive efficiency anywhere on the premises. There have been countless times that I have not been able to get in touch with anyone in the office. I have even attempted to walk over to the office during regular business hours and no one is there.
The day of move out we were supposed to do a final walk through. We walked down to the office but there was no one there perform the walk through with us. The clock on the office management door said that they would be back at 2:30pm, so I waited out their return until 3pm, no one showed up. We left our keys and our forwarding address in the apartment, and never heard anything from the management.
We had some holes in a carpet, which was already old when we had moved in 4 years prior. I was told that I would get a quote for the carpet based on how old that carpet would be. I never received the information regarding how old the carpet was, or explained as to how they calculated the number. My roommate had received her portion of the security back and was disappointed to say the least with what was given back to us with no explanation. I on the other hand (over a month later) am still waiting to see my security check. After emailing and calling the property manager daily, I was finally informed that they received the check back and that there was a mailing error. My guess is that they did not send it to the correct forwarding address in which I had provided them on TWO occasions. But that is pure speculation.
This spring/summer so many residents have left, and it is a clear indication of the poor management and indecency of the properties in this complex.
Although the apartment was spacious and was a convenient location for my proximity to work and get places, the downfalls out-weighted the benefits by far. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of care, maintenance, and all-to-often inconveniences of life at Tanglewood Terrace. I am so glad that I have left that place, and urge any prospective tenant to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable lifestyle.
I hope that Tanglewood makes some serious changes.
