These people commit Insurance fraud. They use a bait and switch method. They ask what kind of insurance you have and tell you that certain things are covered. Set an appointment, let you see a doctor, then when it's time to pick your glasses they upsell you and tell you that actually your insurance doesn't cover much. They are liars and dishonest. They have been running this scam for a long time and the main one is Roxy. A liar. A warm your elderly love ones because I seen them do the same scam with them. Senior citizens beware! This store will tell you that they accept your insurance plan and OTC card. You won't find out any different until they check you out. By the time you get to the checkout counter they will have already removed the money from your OTC card and will not refund that money should you decide you don't want the glasses. They may then tell you they don't accept your insurance plan. They will then tell your choices are to accept an Affirm credit card to pay the difference or leave the store with no glasses and minus the money on your OTC card! I left home thinking I had $850 to spend and got back home $847 in debt! All because they lied and told me they accepted my OTC card AND my insurance plan. Yes, this is what they did to me! They even insisted on doing their own eye exam even though I had in hand a prescription from my ophthalmologist. Beware!! read more

I would recommend the Sterling Optical in Kings Plaza as I've been coming here for a few years now. What I like most is that they take walk-ins and you don't have to wait long to be seen. I came here today and Kami, the Medical Tech, was so nice and informative. She explained each test to help me understand what was going on. As for the doctor (sorry, I forgot her name), she was very friendly and she took her time. Not once did I feel rushed and she explored a few options with me, which were limited to due to my high prescription. I will continue coming here. read more

This is probably one of the better optical shops i've been to in a while. The front desk could be a bit better when it comes to customer service, but the eye doc on staff is SUPERB! Doctor Awad is her name, and schoolin' you on your eye health is her game! For the first time ever, an eye doctor actually took the time to take a photo of my eyes and break down exactly how each portion was looking in terms of health. i am so grateful to now know my chances of getting glaucoma, how my optical nerve and macula are looking, and some good practices for wearing daily contact lenses. While i really like Milan Optique in Park Slope for general eyeglass shopping, Dr. Awad at Kings Plaza Sterling Optical will be my choice for eye examination. She def should be looking after everybody's eyes, as far as i'm concerned. read more

I recently got new glasses from Sterling Optical, and I love them! The frames are perfect for me, and the lenses are high quality.

This place is horrible, very money hungry and is sharks. The only significant thing I have to say about this place is that the eye optometrist was great! I can't remember her name, but she was awesome. I had an appointment today 07/27/2018 as a walk-in. I figured let me try a new place and see how they are and I regret. For all of that, I should've just stayed with LensCrafters (never failed me). Beware, if you don't want people trying to force glasses and extra stuff on you after you said no, then don't come here. If you want an optometrist that's looking out for your best interest and cares for your eyes, then come here but ask her to write your prescription number and go elsewhere for glasses. On top of that, I saw these white Prada frames I loved so much. I wouldn't have minded spending the money and putting a down payment on them, but when I wanted to take anti-glare, transitions, other stuff off that I knew I didn't need and knew it wasn't worth it for me to have since it didn't really work, the sales rep kept forcing me. I've been getting glasses and been wearing glasses the last decade of my life I know what works and don't. The Prada glasses were dirty, and she stated she just got them yesterday. If I could give five zeroes I would. I decided to go in for my free eye exam and alla waived me down immediately. I went to the customer service desk and was met with an uninterested how can I help you. Next up a large tired looking woman in purple was rude while examining my eyes. I said hi to her three times and she did not respond. She was the coldes and nastiest employee there. Next up again, alla doing a very poor job explaining my new subscription and glasses cost. She then tried to argue with me about me fighting with the insurance company. She passed me off to her manager for some reason. The black manager was able talk to me like a human being and assist me with my needs. I noticed the black manager had to stop and a few times to witness how her employees were interacting with the black community. The black female manager has trouble on her hands with her non black employees. They are not meshing with the black customers. I was mistreated by the three white females on this day. The state of New York needs to step in and do a private investigation and help the manager. This location takes advantage of the kindness of black people and in turn we get spit upon by the angry white females at this location. read more

There are dishonest workers at this store. They lied about a $500 Medicare benefit that my mom had on her insurance. First they claimed that she didn't have the benefit. Then they tried to charge over $850 for cheap plastic no name frames with $400 lenses. Stay away from this store and find a more honest operation. read more

I bought some expensive pairs of Cartier glasses. They did the lens and it was like I cut them in Home Depot myself. I did return it, then the screw was not adjusted properly. The second pair of lens came back horrible. The store manager said they were changing ownership. The glasses and everything else is marked up twice the price. The insurance discount is the normal price as if you are buying it from the designer. Such a rip off. I am going to write a letter to the insurance company also. Their service is horrible. Too many times I had to go back to get the lens adjusted. Find someplace better. read more

The doctors here as well as the team are so polite and helpful!! Roxy especially is a sweetheart and always makes sure she takes great care of the guests and that your visit goes smoothly. They have been my favorite eye care spot by far and I recommend this spot 100%. read more

I just called Me: I am checking to see if my husband's glasses came in yesterday. (Like I was told they would) The saleswoman: They are checking right now and will call you right back. Me: Wow! I didn't even give my name yet! How do you know who is calling? Saleswoman: Give me your name. Me: G-R-A Saleswoman: I am helping another customer. Me: Okay, I'll call back later. And I hung up. WTH? I called back a half hour later, after giving my information he tells me they won't be in for 5-7 business days. It's been six business days and when I brought them they told me they would be in yesterday, when I called yesterday, they told me they would be there in an hour, then they told me today. Finally the woman gets on the phone and condescendingly calls me "Honey" a half a dozen times. Maybe it's a cultural difference, but that doesn't fly here. She tells me they were back ordered and they will be at least two-three weeks. I asked if they could just take the piece off the display pair and she told me that my husband should just come in and pick out a different pair of glasses. This is not an option. She called me "Honey" one more time. I absolutely yelled this time and she hung up on me. We're going to just dispute the credit card charge. Enough is enough. read more

There are better places around. Unprofessional attitudes here, constantly trying to up-sell you, and a few times they "misplaced" my paperwork and told me I didn't get an eye exam recently and that I MUST get one(again, when I had just gotten one a few months prior). Only after arguing with them and going back and forth did my paperwork miraculously turn up from their files in the back room. To be fair, there have been times when things have gone smoothly there but some of those experiences definitely overshadow that. They have pretty standard prices for contacts/glasses, but subpar service, so I'd say shop around. I've left there with a bad taste in my mouth on more than a few occasions and don't think I'll be going back. read more

They take very few insurances, the people who work there don't listen, offer very little help and will try to rip you off. One woman named Ida is so rude it is like she was trying to piss you off purposefully- as if she were on a secret camera show. She failed to tell me about the return policy, which is awful. Had I known, I would have gone somewhere else. Once the glasses I bought arrived for my 4 year old son, they were the wrong frames. Big surprise- she put the order in wrong. Then they wouldn't even adjust the glasses to fit his face so we had to go somewhere else. Do Not go here! You would be better off blind. read more

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Originally on the first of October, I thought I was having the best service at Kings Plaza comparing it to one of many other eye glasses stores that I failed to notice (due to the fact that they were located in the corners). The lady that provided the service for my bf and I was excellent and the doctor who examined our eyes was very professional. HOWEVER, things all went downhill as soon as we paid. We realized that their glasses were overprice and they try to rip you off with used products. Outside of their store, it saids that they are grand opening and there's a 50% off on all glasses. Not until I saw her calculating the amount that I needed to pay that I started to realize that they were ripping me off. I have insurance and it gives me a discount. So they just used my insurance and didnt use the 50% discount (I wouldnt have known if I didnt pay attention). I asked why and she saids the manager told her that if I use my insurance then they will order a brand new glasses for me but if I want the 50% off then I would have to take the display one. Also I cannot combine the insurance with their discount. My decision was to take the display one because overall its cheaper with the 50% discount than having to use my insurance. Things were still not that bad yet... When I went to pick up my Tiffany glasses, they gave me a huge Tiffany box. I asked them why is the box so big in comparison to the glasses and the answer I got was that "oh you know Tiffany, they like to do it big.". I never bought a pair of Tiffany glasses before so I took that as an answer and it didnt take long before somebody with the knowledge to tell me that it was a SUNGLASSES BOX. My bf had to go back to pick up his pair of glasses a few days later so I asked the lady at the store about why they had to lie to me and give me this sunglasses box. It was at night so it was a different lady and she gave me way better service than those people who tried to rip me off during the day. She said she will have them order me a new box and she also gave me a lens cleaner that day time worker never gave me. I was told that I would get a call when the new box arrive so I waited... and waited... until Nov 21st. It was nearly 2 months already so I had my bf call them again. The lady that answered was surprised by how I still havent gotten my box yet and she said the manager will call me and speak to me the next day. The next day? No calls. So finally on Nov 26th, which is today, I went with my bf to the store to pick up his contacts. As we walked in, the lady that works at the store saids "oh I know exactly who you guys are and what you guys are here for...". She then went in and got me a Tiffany box and claimed that she had to "steal it from another customer" because she knows that I have been waiting for a long time. The box that I got? It wasnt new. There were damages on the cardboard box and the box inside. The lens cloth was used and wrinkled inside the box (with pictures uploaded). THIS REVIEW WOULD HAVE BEEN ZERO STARS IF IT'S POSSIBLE. PS. I WOULD NEVER EVER SET FOOT INSIDE THIS STORE AGAIN. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU GUYS RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN TOO! read more

I made an unplanned stop there today. The atmosphere was great. Clean, spacious and very attentive staff. I was assisted by a gentleman with flashy glasses. He was able to help me find a color that matches my skin tone, but not essentially the right shape. I asked him if I can get the SKU number of the glasses so that when I do come back in, I can just direct the individual to what I need. He said, "We don't give out model numbers." I mean really, he has to realize that I can remember the brand and what the frames looked like. I thought it would have been helpful for my next visit. I have gone into another big chain optical company and done the same thing. They actually recommended that I do that. It was a little funny having him tell me I can't have it. After that, a woman was trying to give me "a deal" if I got them today. On that note, I will be going to my neighborhood eye specialist. They won't miss my coins and neither will I miss those frames. The customer service is outstanding. I bought my sons here and they did everything to make sure we were not just satisfied but happy. Eye doctor did extensive checkup. Manager was professional and..friendly..returned a defect in my son's frame after inspection and ordered frames more complimentary to his face. I appreciated her honesty as most establishments would sell them anyway. Most impressive was that she called me on her days off with an update as my son needed them for school. There was also a young man who was very helpful and pleasant as well. The store was clean and efficient and the prices were good. Recordkeeping could be better but minor issue was rectified quickly. Of all the years purchasing eyewear this was the first time i received such detailed explanation from the doctor doing the eye exam. He allowed me to ask any question that came to mind. I also received great customer service from Sarah who guided me through the entire process of determining which pair of glasses would be the right fit for me. what i enjoyed most about her service is at no time did i feel pressured to select a particular pair of glasses, accessories, transitions, glare protection or any of the multitude of products other sales people try to force upon you. The customer service here was sooo amazing...the girls behind the counter were down to earth and friendly (very unusual in Brooklyn). I couldn't find the specific glasses that I wanted to they went out of their way and searched for them and ordered them online for me... Went to Kings Plaza Brooklyn Location to get my 14 year old Daughter contacts for first time. Although they threw in 2 Extra Pairs of Contacts cause hers were not on site, I did not like that they changed the price from 100 to 150 on the eye exam and 50 to 55 (cross outs on receipt before pay) on the training of putting on the contacts at the last minute before purchasing contacts. I was told it cost more cost she has astigmatism. I agree with the contacts costing more for this but not the eye exam nor training. I agreed to pay because I did not want to upset my daughter and my wife. I went back on the day of pickup and expressed these concerns with another sales associate. She promised to tell her Manager. But a week went by and I heard nothing! Be Careful when they till you how much something cost and remark up the receipt when you are ready to pay! read more

I went to Sterling Optical after trying two other optical stores that had workers in them but everyone who were in the other stores had checked out mentally an hour and a half before the store closed and offered no assistance to me and my son.. God then lead me to Sterling where the sales associate Ingrid was ready and willing to help my son and myself find the exact frames we were looking for with great advice on what would be the best option for us. My son felt very comfortable and confident with the choices and the service. I also could not have asked for a better Sales associate than Ingrid. She informed me of things that were available for me seeing as I did not have insurance for myself. She also helped me to get a wonderful pair of lens and all the fixings which would be better for me. I am now recommending everyone I speak to that they should go to Sterling optical in Kings Plaza all because of great Customer Service by Ingrid who is thus far the best sales rep I have met in all of 2014. i bought my glasses about a month ago, the paint on the frame is already peeling, and one leg is loose. i went to the store 7 days ago and was told to talk to the manager who is not there at the moment, i want also told that " sometimes we buy frames for the name brand, not for the quality" uh excuse me? i paid good money for a pair of glasses that are not good quality? this is the worst experience ever... i feel completely at a loss. never again. ever. read more
