The store's pretty big considering it caters to the English-speaking population, with two floors, and plenty of variety in terms of books. The staff is extremely helpful and will help you find any book you want and even recommend you new ones (to that effect they also have a blog which they regularly update with events, such as book signings, and the latest book recommendations they have: http://waterstonesbru.blogspot.com/). They also have a great rewards card system, which I recommend to anyone who's planning on being a regular customer there. In addition, they have a fun selection of additional tchotchkes towards the entrance/exit, such as notebooks, pens, boardgames, etc, which reminds me of the Barnes and Noble bookstores you find in the US. I absolutely love this place. It's a really huge place, with tons of books to choose from, no…read morematter your age, including a section for other languages (such as English, Dutch, and Spanish, for example). The staff is very knowledgeable and some obviously adore books as well, so they'll be more than willing to recommend you book depending on your tastes and/or what you're looking for. They also have a whole mini-cafe in the middle of the store, with a grand piano to boot (though I wish they'd have someone to play it more regularly, or perhaps have one of those pianos that plays on its own!). The only thing I have to say against it is how cramped up the entrance is--you have to plaster yourself to the side to let someone else go by, and that while making sure you don't inadvertently make a pile of books fall to the floor (because they're everywhere!). In any case, this is a dangerous store for me to wander into--I could spend my day there, and I'm always bound to leave with more books than I'd originally intended to buy!

I was like, you know what I want to read today? - no what…read more Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus but you know, in German - yeah why not (you pretentious douchebag) So I went out, browsing here and there, Ludwig nowhere to be found. Until I stepped into Nijinski, and I swear to god, an old German edition of Tractatus was the first book I found. (well no, I lied, the first book I saw is some B. Easton Ellis novel but only because you can't miss it, it's so freaking huge and pink and craving for attention.) I also got a cuppa tea, and some other books obviously. I was quite pleased. I guess the only 'bad' thing about this shop is that my school is like, one minute away. Or fifteen seconds if I'm running. I had to run yesterday 'cause I was late for class. Thanks Nijinski!

Brusel is located right in the heart of the city along with a ton of other shops, but this one....this one hit different. I went into probably five or six different comic book shops in Brussels and this one was my absolute favourite. On the lower level of the shop you have all of the comic trades, the manga, and a bunch of random other things like Smurfs figures and Studio Ghibli stuff along with the cash register to pay. Upstairs is a random shrine to Harry Potter with a ton of his merchandise and even a hanging display of owls, Harry Potter fan or not, it's very very cool. Overall, Brusel is my favourite comic store in the city and the store we each picked up four comics to bring home with us. This store should be on any comic lovers list of places to stop!

This time around I walked by and caught a glimpse of a gorgeous framed Blacksad poster/picture and was like holy crap... I think I can finally buy that book. Sure enough they had everything plus an art book. It did cross my mind to just go buy it on Amazon, but it was just so in the moment. Long story short, I splurged a little. This place really will ruin your wallet. I almost ended up buying even more books and a few adorable French zines. Languages for the books vary from French, Flemish to English and a small section in Japanese. Their manga section was also really fun and I love the European publication style to their Manga which is almost 1:1 to Japanese print in size and feel unlike American publications. Almost nabbed a few of those too... They also have an upstairs and downstairs filled with framed artwork which I assume are actual originals, but if not, my mistake. They all looked very nice and well displayed. They require you to leave your bag at the front if you are to look at them and enforce no photo policy of the artwork, since I was semi in a rush, I opted to not look at gorgeous art for hours... sigh. Brusel's also packs lots of other fandom items from Harry Potter, Batman, etc.. the like. Things like wands and themed chest boards. Seriously would have killed my entire wallet here... The damage was only one very expensive and gorgeous graphic novel.

My brother and I found this place while looking for Veals and Geeks. It was a please surprise to…read morefind a predominantly French bookstore with a decent collection of English vinyl records. Particularly if you like 70s/80s rock/pop music (genesis, carnes, Alabama, Phil Collins, etc). The store was nicely laid out with both French and English signs so that you knew where to go to find things. It was brightly lite and well organized. I initially started with about 6 records and only purchased two since I do have to fly back home with them. The service was standard, was warmly greeted by the attendant that spoke good English. The records were all between 3 to 15 Euros, which I would to be a good value. I only wish I had more time to explore all the bins for records. While the product was sorted by genre it was not in any other my artist so it was like looking for buried treasured. Please check it out if you are ever in the area!

Great experience to buy or simply browse Taschen's incredible range of books…read more The shop is beautifully designed, and there is a (somewhat hidden) downstairs also with an incredible collection on display. They fit a lot into a small space, and seem to have regular book launches, etc. Staff are multi-lingual (from memory) and location is great, just off Sablon. Well worth a visit - nice big leather sofas to relax on also.
