I tried calling and texting with no response the whole day! I also watched 3 other potential customers show up, walk to the door and turn and around drive way. I had been looking all over town for a few days for a mini fuse tap. It seemed that no one had them in stock. They installed a new stereo and backup cam for me. Overall the experience wasn't bad, but when it came to the bill at the end is where the bad starts. I was not informed in any way by the staff that I would be charged a roughly 3.2% fee for using a credit card as payment. (It ended up being a $27 fee on a $831 bill) Not until after the work was already finished was this detail brought to my attention. I would have arranged another payment option if I would have been informed beforehand, but waiting until after the job is done and you hold my car keys in your possession until I pay, it feels a bit predatory. This is definitely something that should be clearly stated before any business is conducted. Secondly, I was given the choice of only one stereo since I was told they were out of the rest. I was assured it was a good stereo unit and it was a good deal, so I trusted the staff and agreed to let them install it. The stereo was a "SSL DD988ACP" and I was charged 300$. I decided to research the stereo after it was installed which was a mistake, because through many other retailers, I found that I could have bought it for 80$+ cheaper. With those two issues, I could have saved about 100$ on this install, which is just disappointing. Overall, as far as I can tell they did a good job on the install, which I appreciate. But it comes down to the fact that I wanted to trust that I was in good hands and wasn't being taken advantage of. I doubt I will return for more business in the future, and I cannot in good conscience suggest anyone else patronize this business until these issues are rectified. read more

Would not take my car here if I had to do over. After reading the reviews, I can see why they're all directed towards, " they fixed the problem ." The "problem" is such that they create themselves. For some reason, they cannot seem to get it right the first time. I had to pay extra for parts that they damaged during a simple alarm install. Upon installation, anytime I start my car remotely, the doors unlock (please steal my car). Anytime you call to have things fixed, your now on the back burner(they've already taken your money). I had a great experience here. My uncle and I decided to get my mom a remote engine starter as a Christmas gift. After doing some research, Stereo Steve's seemed to be by far the most affordable option. Steve quoted us $300 via email, and that is exactly what we were charged. (Almost to the penny, even after taxes! Very honest, and I'm not even sure how he made money off of us.) He was able to fit us in on a Saturday, even though this was a 4-5 hour project, and his shop is only open from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturdays. They stayed open about a half an hour late in order to complete this project for us. Thank you! As an added bonus, the remote starter also has the capability of keyless entry and keyless trunk opening. I don't know if this is the case with all remote starter kits, but it was a welcome surprise. My mom is disabled, and this addition to her car will help her defrost the car and get to work, especially in the winter. Overall, the service we received was accommodating, trustworthy, and efficient. Much appreciated! I will be back to have a new stereo installed in my car soon. Stereo Steves has caused my brand new (1.5 months old) BMW i3 to be totalled. Accidents happen, but they have done nothing to fix my problem of being without a vehicle for six weeks while the insurance companies and BMW figure out whether it is fixable and what to do. Final decision is Stereo Steves only carries a 20k property damage insurance policy so in my case with a totalled 53k car, I am devastated. Due to damage being caused by negligence my car insurance will not cover any of it. Due to the service being a third-party, BMW will not cover any of it. Due to Steve deciding it is a good idea to drill through a carbon fibre frame and fuse box, I am left holding a $33,000 bag of nothing. read more

The worst service I have ever encountered! I made an appointment with a very friendly guy to get a deck installed in my 1969 mustang simply because I was being lazy. I also had him quote me for a full system in my truck and another for my 1957 gmc. Endless to say there was potential for them to make $ 5600 off the work I was going to give them. I arrived to my set appointment at 11 and meet Stereo Steve. Friendly enough at first glance, boy did I judge wrong. I told him I was here for my appointment and showed him the extremely simple install a 12 year old could do blindfolded( install a deck that I provided a brand new pioneer 9600. Run wires to the 4 channel amp and to the speakers. Which I had done previously with less than superior wiring. He proceeds to look at the panels and said well this is going to take a lot of time and you can see I'm busy. He also bashed the speakers and am I had chosen because "he hates working with chrome stuff" the install would have taken me 2 hours at most, and he was going to get $350.00. He said this is a complicated job, I don't know what in going to run into when I try to remove Thea panels to run the wires. I told him I've already done the hard work for him by drilling and hollering through the trunk and the firewall. The most complicated part of this was to install a deck that he stocks and "does all the time." He then tells me that I'm not going to do this job because of the former reasons and that I would probably "hover over him". Well I had planned on getting lunch and waiting for my work to be completed, now I wouldn't trust him to remove a speaker without my complete attention. I know this is a long review, however you, the future customer of Stereo Steve's need to know how utterly unprofessional, insulting, and incompetent this guy is before you choose to waste your money and risk your investment with Stereo Steve. Avoid this place like the plauge! A special note to Stereo Steve, I have never written a bad review on anyone, but you can be sure that I will review every outlet that you market on to assure no-one has to find out the hard way how you do business. I am doing my job myself from now on, but I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner of INSTALL SPECIALTIES in Provo. Now there is a friendly professional who knows how to treat people. If you want to know why, here it is: Stereo Steve is THE MAN 1. - He knows what your car REALLY needs. He's not going to try talking you into something or do something you think you want (at first) right away without seriously considering what's really best for your vehicle and particular situation. And by that I really mean what's best for you and your beautiful God-given ears. You spend so much time in your car, shouldn't you be enjoying the hell out of every minute of it? That's what Stereo Steve has done for my life the past few months. I'll just go for drives sometimes, not caring about how much gas I'm using because it's just so ridiculously enjoyable to be in my car now. - Stereo Steve has, like, decades of experience. Not sure exactly how long, but he's been doing car audio for so many years that he has all the right equipment in every price range and he knows exactly how it needs to be installed for optimal sound in your particular vehicle. He has an obsession with great sound and knows how to get it. Steve created custom speaker pods for the front of my car because the other options (putting it in the door) would have seriously muffled and reduced the quality of my sound. I had no intention at first of getting anything like that installed, but he talked me into it by simply stating his humble opinion about what would be best for the car (which, like I said, is really what's best for me and my ability to enjoy being in the car,) and why it would make such a big difference. If you have any concerns about getting the upgraded equipment instead of more simple or base-level stuff, you should really consider the SNAP financing they have available. It helped me get, seriously, the best stereo I could get with the equipment he had avaible there on site, and I didn't pay any interest since it was paid off in less than 90 days. Just a flat rate to SNAP for the financing. I wouldn't trade that money spent for anything else. The stereo sounds DOPE. I was thinking about putting a sub in the trunk after the other speakers got installed, but Steve explained it something like, "Ummm.. you probably don't need it. Check it out." He was right; the pair of 6x9 Imagines he installed below the back window are... let's just say it's enough, okay? :D ..If it was a big SUV or something I'd still probably add the sub in though...just for kicks. 2. - Stereo Steve TAKES CARE OF HIS CUSTOMERS. I had meant to write a review for Stereo Steve's months ago because I loved the stereo and the service so much, but I kept procrastinating it, partially because I wanted to take the time to write a meaningful review. Last night I picked up The White Falcon (The '94 Mercedes that Stereo Steve's installed the stereo in) from the mechanic shop that had just replaced the transmission and the stereo wouldn't even turn on. No light or anything. Same story with the amplifier in the back. I was devastated and knew it must have been something the mechanic did to inadvertently cause it. The shop had closed right then and I didn't get to them in time today to ask them about it before closing. Stereo Steve's was nearby but was supposed to be closed. I gave it a shot anyway, desperate to get my favourite possession back (in working order), to find Steve diligently working on a car after hours. (Same thing happened when he was working on my car a few months ago.) Right away, Steve had me hand him the keys, pulled the car in, and started running diagnostics. He pulled the deck out to fix something, swapped out the fuses in the amp, maybe a couple other things (it all happened so fast) and had me rolling out of there in about five minutes. Freaking rad. Apparently it was a problem with how the mechanic shop handled charging/getting things back on the battery. Blew the fuses or something. It's working again now! Beautiful as ever. First I would like to start by sharing that Steve has worked on several of my cars in the past and the service has always been great. Great prices, great knowledge, great service, until this last time. Recently I took my 95 Mercedes to get the head unit swapped as it was defective. I bought one off Cruthfield.com and got it shipped to my house within a couple of days with all the hardware needed to swap the unit. I called Stereo Steve's to set up an appointment and as always they were very nice and courteous (I talked to the lady that works there, forgive I forgot her name). I took my car in and about an hour later or so the job was done. I must say that this Mercedes is my 3rd car, so it is not a car that I drive daily. About a week after the install I noticed that the front driver side speaker was not playing any audio, so I called back to see if they could take a look at it for me. They agreed and another appointment was set. I took the car and Steve himself worked on the car. After a couple of changes, audio started playing through the speaker. I start driving home and about 20 min after I left, it stopped playing audio again on that front speaker. I call once again to tell them about it. I talk to the lady, explain the situation and she asks me if she can put me on hold while she gets Steve, I agree. Steve gets on the phone and tells me that the issue is a part that looks to be defective with the kit I bought and that he would need to order a replacement at a cost of around $50 dollars and it would take another $50 dollars on top of that to install it. I agree to this and Steve says it will take him a couple of days to get the part and that they would call me back. I waited a whole week without getting a call. I call them, talk to the lady again, which once again very nicely asks me to put me on hold while she gets Steve, I agreed. Steve gets on the phone and he is very honest with me, he tells me that he forgot to order the part and apologized. Not the best situation, but hey, we are humans we make mistakes, I accept his apology and he then mentions that he will order the part and like mentioned the previous time it would take a couple of days to get it in. I waited again, this time 9 days until calling them to inquire about the part, this is where it gets interesting. The lady that works there picks up the phone, I explain the situation, that I have been waiting for over two weeks for the part and on two separate occasions I was told it would just take a couple of days to get the part and I would get a call which I never did, both previous times I was the one who had to call after giving them more than a couple of days. She then checks and tells me that the part is there and that she can schedule an appointment for me. We go ahead and schedule the appointment and before ending the conversation I ask why is it that I did not receive a call as promised. She then gets very confrontational with me, as if the question bothered her and tells me that they were closed for Pioneer day, she was out sick and that they had other jobs that were more lucrative hence not giving me a call. So it looks like my money is not as good as everyone else. Through out this conversation I was very calm and saw no reason to get agitated, obviously, she disagreed. She then proceeded to hang up the phone on me. I call back and no one answers. I call a second time a couple of minutes later, the same thing no answer. About 5 minutes go by and Steve calls me, I explain how rude this lady was and how she just hanged up on me. I explained to Steve that I was perplexed with this situation for several reasons, but mainly because their service with me has always been great, and this was the first time that not only it was bad but horrible. Steve then goes on to explain that part of the issue is that I did not buy the equipment directly from him and that he will probably be changing that policy in the future. That is clearly missing the point. The point is that I paid for a service to be performed on my vehicle, there was a defective part (or so they told me) and it would cost me an additional $100 dollars between parts and labor. I was told it was going to take a couple of days, I call a week after, Steve forgot, it would take another couple of days, call back 9 days later and they get offended because I ask why was I not contacted and hang up the phone on me and tell me if I want to bring my business great, if not that fine too. It is really sad that things got to this point because I have always been very pleased with the service they have provided in the past. I will NOT be taking any of my current vehicles nor future ones to Steve after this horrible experience. read more
