We worked with Erin to create a custom dance for our wedding in June, and it was a fantastic experience! We ended up doing the Wowza package because we wanted to create a dance that started as a slower/more traditional dance, but then change songs mid-way to something more fun/funky/upbeat. Erin was incredibly helpful, encouraging, upbeat and fun to work with from start to finish. At the beginning, we weren't sure what kind of dance we wanted, and Erin asked questions to get to know us, understand what we were generally going for, and then helped guide us in figuring out the approach to our dance. Throughout the process Erin would suggest trying various dance moves and then coach us through them, and through that process we created a very unique, custom dance that both of us were excited about. We're really happy and thankful for Erin's help as we were preparing our first dance together. My partner and I are not dancers, let alone felt comfortable coordinating an effort here. Luckily we met Erin during a wedding fair and did a consultation and she walked us through the steps and what we'd need to do and her packages. We picked a relatively short song (about 2.5 minutes) so we went with the standard (basic) package, including five lessons and our video recordings to practice further at home. In short, it was perfect for what we intended and as the package is named, it was lovely. We don't have our video or photos done yet but will share them when we can. Everything about this experience was wonderful. My wife and I met Erin locally in SF (wedding in Tahoe), where we had scheduled a full day of learning & dancing. Rather than having the dance mapped out from the moment we arrived, she had us go through some movements, ask about what sorts of elements we were interested in, and the dance came together organically throughout the day. As we slowly got better, she incorporated videos to help us improve more, and sent us home with them to practice! A week after, but only a week before the ceremony, we met up again. We showed the progress we'd made (she provided videos with and without instruction so we could practice from home) and we made some final tweaks and adjustments. Moving beyond the experience and the dance itself (which was a hit!!!), Erin was a patient teacher and clearly was invested in getting to know us as a couple, not just teaching us a dance. She asked us how we met, what we loved about one another, what sort of connection we had with our venue site, etc. This added to the experience and made it not just hiring another vendor, but something to remember. My daughter needed some audition prep for a high school musical so I searched on Yelp to find an instructor. That's how I found Erin. After some back and forth through text we were able to firm up a time for my daughter's lesson. Erin was pretty thorough about dance lesson schedule and costs. She also informed us of location. Note that our location was at a church so not a traditional dance studio. For us the location worked fine as it was conveniently located. However, if you need a traditional dance studio you might want to discuss location with Erin in case she has other locations. We ended up going with two lessons. Initially we thought maybe three but given the audition material/choreography and schedules, we ended up deciding on two. One thing I would recommend is that if you are bringing a kid/student, make sure that they get hydrated and have bathroom breaks in advance. Otherwise you use some of your lesson time for that. The first lesson was used for the basics and the second lesson was used for the specific choreography for the audition. My daughter felt pretty comfortable with the audition material after the second lesson. As Erin pointed out, confidence is a big part of the audition. Erin was able to help with that as well as with the technical requirements of the choreography. We haven't hear back yet whether my daughter will be getting a spot in the musical, there was also acting and vocal auditions as well. We were happy with the help we got from Erin. I would highlight that if you do a package deal with Erin there is a discount but you need to let her know on the day of the first lesson. Because we waited to decide on the package deal we were no longer eligible for the discount. Erin really stayed in front of us on the scheduling and made an effort to try and get my daughter in before the audition.
