I have three kids so I definitely have experience with many schools in the neighborhood. Once I found out they were opening a school last year I was the first person to sign up my little one. They work amazingly together, take the time to give personal attention to each child, encouraging out of the box thinking and focus on every aspect of your child, not just academic which they are great with but behavior, talking about feelings, and getting over fears. Most importantly not only does my daughter love school and love them but my son who graduated their class 3 years ago still goes by to see them and wishes he was in their class again. I cant say enough about how amazing they are, invest in your children and in this school you will never regret it. Early childhood education and self confidence is one of the most important building blocks in a child's life. Love you guys, thanx for everything.

As a faculty member of the Bank Street Graduate School of Education, I want my grad students, who…read moreare all student teaching in public and private schools, to visit a home-based program, in order to experience a variety of programs for young children. I bring them to Little Bridge to experience "best practice" in a high-quality home environment. Two of my graduate students and I had a delightful visit to Little Bridge this morning. When we arrived, the children were beginning their dramatic play, and play with manipulative materials. The children were "going to the beach," working with small vehicles, and working with manipulative materials. All twelve children were actively engaged in meaningful activity: planning, negotiating, solving conflicts with the help and support of the two teachers, Stefania and Jessica. After "clean-up," the children joyfully danced and did movement exercises to music, and then washed their hands and had a convivial lunch. Throughout our visit, the children were happy, busy, and confident. It was very apparent that they felt safe and secure. Stefania and Jessica are both experienced teachers with a profound understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate curriculum, and a deep respect for young children. They have provided an environment where children can create, express themselves, learn to work with others, and thrive in all domains--cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. Bay Ridge families are fortunate to have this high-quality program available to them.

Dear Lighthouse, Thank you for everything you have…read moreendured the last 2 years day in and day out. A has grown from the shy, introverted toddler who cried every day to the still shy but confident, expressive, talented, intelligent and powerful preschooler he is now. But we know Lighthouse will continue on to help other kids grow to be the best little growing person they can be. We could not have made a better choice bringing Ms. Alicia, Ms. Sarah, Ms. Shirley, and Ms. Tracey the ladies of Lighthouse Preschool into our extended family. XOXO

I looked at many, many daycare centers before deciding on The Learning Experience in Bag Ridge. I…read morestared sending my son when he was three months old; staff made me feel confident that he was in good hands, which a new mom always needs! The location has an outdoor play space, which was important to me, as well as an indoor place place for days with less than ideal weather. Classrooms are bright, clean and child-oriented, and weekly schedules are posted for parents. I love the weekly art that gets sent home. Staff is responsive and warm, and the adults are familiar with each child. It's always a warm morning welcome. My work requires an early morning start, so early drop off times were a must- TLE meets this (very) important requirement. When looking into daycare, it was important that my child was stimulated as an infant, but also that this would continue throughout the years I plan on keeping him in the center. The curriculum presented for older children seems cognitively demanding and the way the entire center is run is worth the price I pay :)

Our daughter had just left Tutor Time a month and half ago because we moved to Long Island. She had…read morebeen go been attending Tutor Time of Brooklyn from 1.5 to 2.5 years old for a little less than a year. Let me get to the point: Whatever minor complaints you see from the other reviews, they most likely have no idea how good they've got it. Tutor Time of Brooklyn is probably the best day/child care in NYC. Prior to us moving, my wife and I have toured DOZENS of day/childcare facilities and none of them come close to having the quality service and care that this place has. From what I've seen, this place has the most amenities. Virtually everything is provided for like diapers. If you've visited any other childcare centers you'd know that's not common. Whenever my daughter loses something in class, the teachers and assistants take initiative and SCOUR the school to find it for us, even if it's something as insignificant as a hair clip. They'd always make sure our daughter had a clean diaper before we take her home. I cannot stress enough how caring and attentive they are - and this includes the director Stephanie. Stephanie's office is always open to children and parents. Any inquiries or issues you have, she resolves them right away. You'll sometimes find her in the classrooms taking care of the kids because she's not above that. And good luck finding another day/childcare in NY that gives parents webcam access. It's virtually non-existent! I had told the staff prior to leaving that my wife and I will probably miss this place more than our daughter. The school that we've had to settle with at the moment is nowhere near as good as this place.

This brief Yelp is for the church that's connected to the Visitation Academy School. The school…read moreitself and the grounds are private property and the general public cannot access them. As far as a House Of Worship goes, I do like coming here for Mass on Sunday as its rather close to my apartment building. Its a two plus block walk as opposed to the other churches which as five and ten blocks walk if you were opting for one of those. The interesting thing about this particular church is that there are two sections. The part that the public can enter into and then off to the right hand side of the altar is the section where the nuns sit. You really don't see them unless one is doing one of the readings or when they are going up to receive Communion and I should point out that they are served first and then the public congregants. I've only recently been choosing to come here for the Sunday mass since there is one at 9AM and the priest seems to be visiting from another country. I am not certain that they have a priest of their own in residence for those who are concerned about that. There is an organist and occasional choir up above. There is no proper collection to support the church and school but a basket is available for donations should you be feeling charitable. I also didn't notice any sort of votive candles in this section but there are some beautiful statues and paintings. Other masses are sporadic in times but I do think there is a daily morning mass that begins around 8AM if going there interests you.

It's been caring for and teaching kids in Bay Ridge literally for generations - the founder was the mom of the current director, Kim Pomaro ("Ms. Kim"), and Kim's daughter, Aimee, is the head teacher in one of the two classrooms. I don't quite know how to articulate all the ways Tiny Tots is great, but the Pomaros are just kid people, and so are the other fantastic teachers there (who my son had), and they've create a wonderful kid-oriented culture. It's nurturing and warm, and they also expect kids to learn things - like how to write their name - that they'll need to know in Kindergarten. Here's an example of what makes Tiny Tots special: this spring after the school year ended with 3 months of remote learning, they held a socially distanced, one family at a time, "graduation" ceremony to mark the end of the year and give the kids a sense of completion and achievement. At the ceremony and again on the last video class the next day, most or all of the teachers had tears in their eyes, sad to see the kids go, and proud of how they'd grown. My family will always remember Tiny Tots with great affection and I can't recommend them highly enough.
