My husband and I cannot say enough good things about Stephens Automotive. They are a highly professional group who helped us out immensely. We are from South Georgia. We broke down on our way to Arkansas. We were meeting up with family members also going camping in Arkansas. Our daughter and her family lives in Lizella right outside of Macon. Our truck pulling a 38' camper broke down. Engine lights flashing, gauges overheating. Well you get the picture. Our daughter-in-law recommended a place down the street from their house called Stephens Automotive. We came in limping late Thursday to Arrowhead campground. While we were parking our daughter-in-law went down the road to talk to Stephens. She explained our situation. We were to leave with the group at 5AM Friday. Surprisingly the owner/ manager said to come on over. They would look at our truck. You NEVER get a place to see you if 1- show up on short notice, 2- have deadline, 3- have never met or done business with, 4- around closing time and 5- present them with no chance of repeat business. These wonderful people took our truck, hunted down the parts we needed, and made repairs. In less than 24 hours we were back on the road to Arkansas. If you ever need mechanical assistance go to this local shop. The work is top notch. I took my 2001 Ford F-150 to my regular mechanic who could not diagnose the random skipping problem I was having. They suspected the EEC (PCM) and that I'd need to take it to the dealer. Instead I called the service manager at the local Honda dealership who've I've used and trusted for 26 years. He told me that he uses Stephens Automotive to work on his F-250 and Mr. Stephens was formerly the service manager of a Ford dealer service department. I took my truck to Stephens and they determined that the PCM was fine though it needed to be reprogrammed with the latest updates. Stephens is one of the few shops other than the dealer that has the tools to do this. They also recommended new plugs, replacing the coil boots and one dodgy coil. They also recommended changing the cracking serpentine belt. Now the truck runs great! My wife inherited it when her 91 year old dad died, so we don't know its service history. Everyone at Stephens were courteous and helpful. I was given a detailed list of recommended repairs along with an accurate quote before any work began. They had me in and out in a day. Be aware that this is a professional shop and their rates reflect that. Don't be surprised if they charge more than your neighborhood shade tree mechanic, but their rate is certainly less than the dealership rate. read more

Great service! My car broke down on the highway and was towed to Stephens. They quickly diagnosed the issue. We decided to just tow it onto our destination (we were on a cross country move) because we were on a time crunch. They took time out of their day to help us get our car loaded onto the tow dolly (def couldn't have done it without their help). A+ service. read more
