I called and they said my contact was dealing with personal family business. Two more months and I didn't hear anything... I called, yeah, they were very busy with end of the year paperwork. Then I see a report to the state saying their fee was $8000, two thousand more than the agreed upon price. I protested and asked for an explanation... no response. This week I fired them and asked for all the paperwork and balance in the probate account be turned over to me, the executor... still no word from them. Next week I will begin filing complaints with the state.

Cut to yesterday where I was called with a bill for a form Melissa had written up per my request last month but never discussed a rate on. In addition to that there was apparently a bill from two years ago, for work I do not even remember, and again was not previously discussed. After my complaint referring back to our original conversation the two years old bill was thankfully waived. I have paid for the work done currently, but I am still angry that this incurred a charge (which makes sense) that was never discussed previously. The assistant who called me, Kelly, informed me that our original conversation was apparently a free follow up for a year. Whether this is what I was told and I misremembered, or if this was a change, it still does not excuse incurring a charge not discussed previously, especially being told about it nearly two years later. Melissa is personable and extremely technically qualified and has had my recommendation to many of my friends since our first interaction. This most recent experience has given me pause and caused me to update each of those friends with this information as a warning so they are not also blindsided by charges they are not expecting. Any future recommendations, if any, will include a disclaimer and a warning.
