The whole team was…read moreamazing, from all of the nurses who made sure I was comfortable, to the anesthesiologist who was super amazing to the doctor (Dr. Demkowski) who performed the procedure. I just wish I knew all of their names, but they all deserve props and a huge thank you for taking care of me, I know it is their job but they performed like you are one of their family members. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I have had two good doctors (out of 5), from Lakeview (Suffolk). I waited months to see their…read morereferred neurologist, in another location. I have since changed to Sentara. The catalyst for this move was both sloppy service and then their illegal billing practices. My husband is a 100% Disabled Vietnam Era Vet. After years of dealing with it, seeking the benefits he deserves for his life-changing war-time injury, I am now covered by Champ VA and Medicare. When the government awards this coverage, they provide specific billing instructions to the patients' billing departments they work with. Some billing departments don't refer to the rules. They agree in accepting payment, they agree to accept it as "Payment-in-Full." Lakeview's billing department, in spite of repeated contacts, persists in an "illegal practice" called Balance Billing, i.e. adding to the bill after they are paid. Quote: from CHAMPVA - https://www.va.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/docs/pubfiles/factsheets/FactSheet_01-20.pdf Information for Outpatient Providers and Office Managers ... "under Title 38 CFR, Section 17.272(b) (3) and (4), providers who agree to accept the beneficiary must accept the CHAMPVA allowable charges and cannot balance bill the beneficiary. The sole exception is when the beneficiary is notified prior to any services being rendered that you do not accept CHAMPVA and the beneficiary must pay the entire billed amount up front and file the claim to CHAMPVA." Another Quote "1. Federal Balance Billing Regulations Under federal regulations, if a provider agrees to accept a CHAMPVA patient, they must accept the CHAMPVA-allowable rate as full payment." I don't go there anymore, but they bill me for a community use fee. I won't pay it.

Normally I would rate SMOC 5 stars especially Dr. Bevilacqua and PA Keklik. They took care of my…read moreknee a few years ago and everything was great including follow on care. I just had my other knee repaired last week. I have had extreme edema and more than tolerable pain. I do understand that all surgeries are different and complications can arise. While being treated for another condition not related to the knee the physician said that the swelling was excessive and I should go to SMOC the next morning. Which I did. I explained to the lady at the desk what the issue was she immediately went back to Mr Keklik he told her to have me follow up with my PCP. Of course that was not acceptable to me again I said I understood that I did not have an appt and I was willing to wait until he or Dr Bevilacqua or anybody could fit me in. The next message relayed was to go see a Vascular Doctor or my PCP as Mr Keklik is double booked all day. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional in my opinion. Not so much as even a follow up phone call from either one. That is a fine example of patient care.

FYI...Dr. Ballentine is a great doctor, but the supporting staff that I dealt with at SMOC suck…read more They have absolutely NO compassion. I had a visit on October 2, and today is October 21 and I am still waiting on them to make 1 call so my insurance will pay for the subscribed medication. I shouldn't have to beg people to do the job they are getting paid to do.
