This place hasn't been reviewed yet? I thought I originally found this dentist via many glowing…read moreYelp reviews. Anyway: This is the best dentist office I have visited in the United States. The worst part about going to a medical provider, is having to wait (sometimes over an hour!) for the appointment to begin--this kind of wait has never happened to me Fredericksburg Dental Associates. I have gone to this clinic three times and I have never waited more than 2-minutes upon my arrival (and I always arrive early to every appointment). The dental hygienist is the one who brings you to your chair - which is in a private room (which I prefer!) and the dental hygienist gets to work on your teeth right away - so there is no waiting once you are sent to your treatment room. On my three visits, once the hygienist is done, the wait for the dentist has been minimal too! How do they do that? I really appreciate how well choreographed their timing is - I'm sure this allows them to see more patients and it also shows respect for my time. Dentist appointments used to take over an hour, but now they can take 30-minutes or less because this clinic is so efficient. I like how each of the treatment rooms are decorated a little differently. There's one children's room that has a huge whale mural painted on the wall in front of the chair (and secretly I want to be in that room!). The two different dentists I have seen have been friendly and I feel comfortable with their care. I appreciate that there is zero mention of stuff to buy like special toothbrushes or waterpiks or other things - some dentists do that. The only two suggestion I'd have (and would be for every dentist in the world) - please consider decorating your ceilings with images or word puzzles or something to look at while leaning back in the chair. And secondly, consider making it a little more obvious which clinic is the Fredericksburg Dental Associates office from the outside of the building. This clinic is next to a bunch of different medical care providers (and another dentist across the street) so some sort of more obvious visual would be helpful. Is a gigantic red toothbrush sculpture in the front yard overkill? I like that this clinic sends you text reminders about your appointment a week or two before the appointment and then again a few days before. They also give you a business card reminder with your name, next appointment date and time on a removable sticker that you can put on your calendar. I don't have a calendar, but it makes me want to get a calendar! A few days after your appointment, you get a survey asking how your appointment went. It's obvious they really care about patient satisfaction and it shows in the quality and cleanliness and efficiency of their care. Definitely recommended.

After their departure I had a root canal there that was not good. Went back many times because it just didn't feel right. All they did was a little adjusting and said come back if it doesn't feel right. I thought I would get a second opinion for the problem. Come to find out one of the canals was never treated! Then, a piece of their grinding/digging equipment was broken off in one of the canals that was treated!! I was NEVER told of either of these problems. I am now paying additional $$s to treat and retreat the canals.

Booking An Appointment Part of the reason consistently taking care of my health is difficult is because navigating websites, setting up accounts, loading information, calling phone numbers, consulting various sources, etc. is mentally exhausting. Serene Smiles makes it SO EASY to book online. Now that I'm a regular, I've also taken advantage of being able to text their number to set or reschedule appointments. I also love that Serene Smiles texts me my appointment information and reminders. It truly couldn't be easier! Your Comfort Is Important Before my very first appointment, I shared during my booking experience that in the past I've had dentists who have grabbed my mouth and roughly poked around without me knowing what they were doing. I shared that my preference is to know what they are doing and why. Serene Smiles exceeded my expectations in every way, first with Sarah as my initial hygienist, and then with Kaitlyn. Both Sarah and Kaitlyn were so kind and patient with me - they explained what they were doing and why, showed me the tools, told me what they were doing, and told me there were some alternatives if I felt discomfort. They consistently asked me if I was comfortable and overall made me feel very cared for. Dr. Zain is also very gentle, and he goes out of his way to explain everything you need to know about your teeth and facial muscles. He also doesn't push unnecessary treatment - he prefers to try less intrusive options and wait to see if there's improvement. After my first appointment was so wonderful, I encouraged my spouse to give them a try, and he has had the same experience. Now I will encourage you to give them a try. You won't regret it!

We've been stuck there to finish the Invisalign treatments we were nagged to undergo, until we finally did. Go to an orthodontist! My husband and I started Invisalign with Dr. Ramai after he told us we needed to correct our bites. At the age of 34 he told me I would "need new teeth by 40," if I didn't. We started in 2023, they don't tell you that they will basically be cementing attachments on most all of your teeth for the aligners to effectively move them, that they will need to shave your teeth to correct crowding (so of course you can move teeth if you're just shaving them down), and that a hygienist will be the one removing your attachments by grinding them off and if you're lucky, like me, they will also remove parts of your teeth with them. After my first set of trays I asked to finish my refinement trays, the hygienist told me that they must've gotten thrown away and proceeded to remove my attachments anyway, despite me wanting to finish the trays that "were thrown away," and not offering to order new ones. Then Dr. Ramai comes in and files my teeth down more, without my consent, and then scans my teeth for another set of aligners. It took me several sets of aligners to close the new spacing Dr. Ramai created by filing down my teeth, and during one of the following appointments I was asked if I wanted to use my refinement trays. I told the hygienist I didn't have any and she proceeded to bring out the trays from my FIRST SET that were "thrown away." I would have been done with treatment by now if I had been given my refinement trays and Dr. Ramai hadn't filed my teeth down creating extensive spacing. Fast forward to 2025 when Dr. Ramai left and my case was transferred to Dr. Modad, it took two months to transfer the case and during our initial consultation before it was transferred, she (nor Dr. Ramai) made no mention to there being a limit to the number of trays or an expiration to our treatment outside of the dentist determining your teeth require no further movement. So during my last appointment in November of 2025 my teeth were scanned for additional trays because there is still too much spacing. After scanning the hygienist proceeded to bring back the office manager and tell me that if I wanted to continue my treatment I would need to pay an additional $800 because I had exceeded my scans and told my treatment would expire this August as well as commenting on the original price I paid. My paperwork has no mention of an expiration date or a limit to the number of trays and no one had told me anything prior to this appointment. My treatment is still on hold until they get their payment, despite my case being mishandled on multiple occasions. I do not feel it's fair to be charged more money for a treatment that was paid in full or be stuck with teeth mid treatment despite the dentist telling me my teeth require more movement. When I asked why my teeth aren't where they're supposed to be, the hygienist said, "Dr. Ramai focused on looks" (instead of the bite I was told being the reason I needed treatment in the first place). So it appears to be well known in the office Dr. Ramai routinely mishandled cases. On top of this issue, it takes about 4 weeks to get in to an orthodontic appointment, which routinely they'll say they have no record of. If you try and ask Dr. Modad about your Invisalign results, she will just default to the AI driven Invisalign software and unpredictability of your teeth. As far as routine dental appointments, they'll start the appointment off by booking your new appointment 6 months out, which again, is routinely cancelled. When denying x-rays for whatever reason they will lecture you about it, or ask you more questions about your pregnancy than your ob/gyn at a prenatal visit. They even went so far as to ask my son if he's excited to be a big brother, before I had even told him myself. Don't make the same mistake we did.

I had a front tooth crown that I had been waiting for from my previous nightmare for over 4 months. Dr. Shirk assured me that we would get it taken care of with a local lab to match the shade. After a few tries (not the dentist's fault) but the lab, the lab finally got the shade right. Dr. Shirk would not stop until I was happy with the outcome and the shade matched to the rest of my teeth. I must say, I am impressed. Customer Service is very hard to find these days. Dr. Shirk goes above and beyond for his patients from my own experience. His assistant, Alex, is wonderful as well. I love walking into a dentist office where it's clean, the workers get along and are happy, and the dentist himself actually cares about his patient. You'd be crazy not to give Dr.Shirk and his office a try. He is a true definition of someone that takes pride in his work!
