I am a military veteran, who was sent by the Veterans Administrator to Doctor Moss's office for a sleep apnea device to help with my snoring. His staff from day ONE was amazing. They all are kind and very courteous. Every visit after; I was greeting by front desk staff by name and big smile (I FELT GOOD). It's such a welcoming and warm environment. With most doctor offices, I would arrive at my designated time; sign in, sit and wait (sometimes up to an hour). I arrive at Doctor Moss's office and start to walk through the door. Before I complete my greetings. Front desk staff are telling me "You are all set Mr. Brown; got you all checked in; they will be with you shortly." Name any medicals office where you get that type of service? I can't comment on the dentist because we ended up canceling prior to appointment due to lack of transparency and subpar communication from the office staff. They are OUT OF NETWORK with ALL insurance companies. The said they didn't have it on their website, nor will they inform you when you schedule because it "deters patients"... (as it should) and they also let you know everything last minute. Hopefully the staff isn't a reflection of patient care. read more

I went to this practice on an emergency basis when my regular dentist was out of town. They promptly scheduled me to have my crown reinstalled and I was in and out of the office in less than 45 minutes. Professional, gentle and a very pleasant environment. Dr Moss, Jr and Courtney usually take care of my dental needs (cleaning, annual exams). I've always been more than satisfied. The last three visits I've been seen by Dr Moss, III and Wendy. I am getting Invisalign to correct my overbite, close in the gaps & straighten my teeth. They have been thorough in the examination, explanation and fittings. I knew exactly what to expect before I made my decision. Today was the big day! As stated no surprises. They were considerate of my needs always checking in to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Moss is a good dentist, probably one of the better ones out there. However in his practice they often do services without checking with your insurance and then you have to cover the cost. This happened on more than one occasion. In addition they try to sell services that are not necessary, this is frustrating because dental services are already costly. I dont mind paying for services I need, but for ones that I dont need, I do mind. After trying several different dentists in the area finally found one that I really like, Dr Day. I would highly recommend him (and his staff). read more

I really like the dentist! Super knowledgeable and has great "bedside manner". He explains everything in such detail and makes sure that you understand. Very thorough exam. The best exam that I have had with a dentist. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5, 2 reasons: 1.) pretty expensive! 2.) I made an appointment for my husband to get a cleaning and scaling. when he got there, they instead did a full x-ray and exam but NO CLEANING!? I asked ahead of time what the cost would be for his appointment and then said, $250-$300. Okay... that's a bit high but they're good dentist. Well, I thought that it was an exam with a cleaning. I felt deceived after o found out that they didn't do what I asked for. I let that go because I thought well, maybe he needs a "deep cleaning". Now I am here early and picking up a mouth guard. I have a migraine and I have multiple immune disorders so I am extremely tired and in pain. I asked nicely could I just take the piece and go home. I'll come back if it doesn't fit. "Nope"..... so I am sitting in my car with my 1 year old because I am too tired and hurt to deal with this. I understand that I am bitching a bit but I would've really appreciated some compassion. I can't say enough about Dr. Moss & especially Sherry my hygienist. This is the most thorough dentist I have ever been to. Dr. Moss was recommended when I relocated to Fredericksburg by a long time 2nd generation patient. While I had attended a dentist regularly for years, it was when I started seeing Dr. Moss I got an amazing amount of patient education and great preventative care. New to the area ~ work for Dept of Defense. Where do I begin? The front desk staff, particularly Ms. Moss, is one of the most ill-mannered, discourteous, rude people we've met. I had a scheduled appointment on the day the office was closed because the entire staff was out on training. Not one phone call made to my family, or email sent to re-schedule, yet Ms. Moss had the edacity to want to charge members of our family $48 for cancelling an appointment due to an illness. Lloyd F. Moss Jr. is a good dentist! It is extremely unfortunate that the front desk staff is so bad. They are extremely bad at contacting dental insurance companies. You will end up paying a lot of money $$$ here due to incompetence. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Dentists are a dime a dozen. Find a better place to take your family to. read more

After calling dentist closer to our home that did not accept our specific insurance, we made an appointment with Dr. Moss' office because they stated they did accept our insurance. After receiving what I would consider good dental care, I was informed they did not accept my insurance and my cost would be approximately $400 (x-rays and cleaning). The billing lady up front was not the least bit sympathetic or apologetic that it was miscommunicated to me that my insurance would not be accepted . She was argumentative and insulting at best. Again, the dental service was satisfactory and Dr. Moss III was very professional and likable, but I do feel misled. I would have just added a different dental insurance to my plan if they could have been honest that my plan was not acceptable at their practice....it was during insurance open season when this occurred. Had a billing dispute and called repeatedly to leave messages with the receptionist. No one ever called me back to discuss it and it was only a few times I was passed off to someone else that I got any explanation of what was happening. The issue stemmed from them performing a complete set of x-rays including a panoramic x-ray for my wife. She told the technician that she had a panoramic taken previous year at another office and instead of stopping and reaching out to that office they went ahead with the x-ray. They billed all the xrays under one claim which was denied so I had to pay for all the x-rays out of my pocket. To their credit they did reimburse me for the cost of the panoramic (no one ever told me they would do this it just showed up in the mail one day) but I was left paying for the other x-rays which she was eligible for and they refused to make it right. What made this infuriating was they basically said my wife lied about saying she had a panoramic the previous year because in their words "they would not have taken the panoramic if they were told this". Their technician was clearly in the wrong but instead of making it right they resorted to calling my wife a liar. I have never in all my years dealing with doctor's offices had such an unpleasant encounter. read more

I became a patient with Dr. Lloyd Moss III only within the last year and I can't be happier or more satisfied with the outcome. I was one of those folks who was anxious about going to the dentist based on previous experience. I'm not much with pain at all. But Doctor Moss and his staff make certain I am as comfortable as possible. There is always going to be discomfort and some pain, but, he and his technicians make it minimal. Also, unlike other places, they don't push you to make more and more decisions, instead, Dr. Moss gives me options, and talks quite frankly about the possibilities. Because of this, I feel relaxed and confident I am in trusted care. From the receptionist to the dental hygienist, I know I am being treated with compassion and honesty. I highly recommend Dr. Moss to anyone, especially those of us who may be hesitant to go due to past experience.
