He initially seemed fine with that, but then called back just ten minutes later--this time agitated--insisting that the hotel doesn't "revolve around me" and demanding paperwork be filled out immediately. Surprised, I got out of the bath right away and came down to resolve the issue. Despite apologizing for what I thought was a simple miscommunication, I was met with hostility. The staff member became increasingly upset, told me to pack my things, and threatened to call the police for trespassing. To my disbelief, he actually did. The police arrived, and I left immediately. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and have never experienced such an extreme, unnecessary overreaction. What could have been handled with basic courtesy and professionalism turned into a hostile, bewildering ordeal. I truly hope the management reflects on how this kind of treatment affects guests. Until then, I strongly advise avoiding this property.

(The weekend I stayed there, it played host to a baby shower.) Upstairs, the Airbnb "apartment" covers the entire footprint of the building. The apartment is accessible by stairs on the back side of the building. We did not cross paths with the baby shower attendees, nor did they have access to the Airbnb space. My nephews and their spouses, who were staying with me, arrived at The Leanor before I did; they had no issues entering the property without me. Even on this hot summer day, the apartment was comfortably cooled. Each room had its own A/C unit. The master bedroom had its own bathroom, and there were two hallway bathrooms. Each of the three couples had their own beautifully remodeled bathroom, with natural lighting from glass blocks in the walls and floor-to-ceiling glass door showers. One of the rooms had an adjoining suite with queen-sized bunk beds and whimsical animal artwork and hangers for guests who have younger children. Just a block away, you can find a bank, drug store, record shop, dispensary, gas station, and Safeway grocery store. Rubia's gourmet Mexican restaurant and the 505 Tap House are both just across the street. The Leanor was built in 1906 and was originally the post office for Aztec; it is on the state and national registries of historic places. Robin, the host and owner, has done an incredible job renovating The Leanor to modern standards while never losing the charming Old West atmosphere of a nearly 120-year-old building. The space is quiet and comfortable, definitely a "home away from home" that I can't wait to stay in again.

I chose this hotel since it's a business trip and it's in the middle of Farmington so there is plenty of options of food and business nearby. Parking is free and there was plenty of it. There is also a Starbucks in walking distance which was convenient. Check in was easy! But there was numerous times I walked by the front desk and no one was there. I saw a few people struggle to get checked in. The lobby does offer water but it was only lemon water that was offered to refill my water bottle which isn't my fave. There is a mini store by the front desk if you want to purchase candy, snacks, and bottled sodas and water. Room was clean but dated. The walls are thin so there was a night where there was yelling and chaos in the hallway and room next to mine and I couldn't sleep. The elevators are very slow. Breakfast is just okay. I didn't use the pool, but I did see it was packed often with kids when I walked by it. I did use the gym which was great since it had a few treadmills, ellipticals, mat and weights.

Location is primarily why I chose to stay there and you really cant beat the location. It's convenient to just about everything. I was rather amused when checking in and the person behind the counter asked if I was SURE that I wanted to stay more than one night. I got the distinct impression that many people had stayed one night and left after having a bad experience. LOL I was confused about the status of the pool. Apparently it's NOT open during the day due to renovations but was available at night? Wasnt sure what that meant. The person who helped me check in was friendly but the person who checked me out behaved as if she were having a life crisis and was depressed, angry or both. The other staff I encountered there were also very friendly. The breakfast is basic as you'd expect but slightly less to choose from than what you usually get. What I did not enjoy was the Fox News blaring from the lobby TV at all hours. That alone will keep me from staying there again. The room seemed clean and overall I wasnt disturbed by noise.
