Diggin' it!
Like most European cafes, it's all about the ambiance. There's just something so peaceful about that cup of cappuccino and a croissant sitting at a patio table on the sidewalk out front during the spring and summer months.
The vibe! The view! The people watching! Add the locals into the mix who are also taking a load off, and it's truly a treat.
The ordering process is a bit odd, you order the cup of Joe you're after, along with the sandwich which they'll slap on the panini press if you wish, then go pay at a separate counter. Then, with ticket in hand, you go back to the gal hookin' you up and you're set.
Mind you, those outside tables are in high demand, so be patient and mindful, but it's a good experience all around.
Side note: Most folk in Rome, at least in the hospitality industry, speak a fair amount of English, unlike many establishments in Germany that I've encountered. Not saying that's good or bad, it just is.
