My son went to see Dr. Kramer after 1 yr. of back pain. Dr. Kramer was on a list of Pain Management MD's that my son's Ortho MD gave him. We chose him due to proximity to our home & the fact that he could serve as both Ortho & Pain Management MD. My son's previous Pain Management clinic had horrible customer service & it was very difficult to elicit communication with & from them. Great experience from the moment I walked through the door. I've had hip pain for years and I was losing hope it would ever get better. Don't waste your time for pain management. ( see my Google review) I waited 2 hours, was drilled by 3 rude nurses, and this guy's 1st words were " I don't do opioids"! I told him his web site should say so and why make me wait 2 hours?" There are a father and son with same name. I'm referring to the son. I don't normally do reviews, but after my second appt with Dr Kramer, I was so impressed with his positive attitude and approach to my care. 2.5 years ago I had a motorcycle accident that required L1-L3 fusion to stabilize my spine. After years of living in chronic pain every day, Dr Kramer was recommended by a close friend. Dr Kramer spent time walking me through my MRI and CT scan in detail and came up with a positive approach to treating my symptoms and help give me a better outlook on life. ***update: if I could give 10 stars I would. I went to him because of numbness and tingling in hand. I noticed right away that he seemed incredibly hurried . When I tried to ask questions or try to mention information that I thought would be of help, he dismissed it , halted it and and would only respond with short dismissive answers. In following weeks we tried : - pills , .......didnt work ,caused constipation -cortisone shot in wrist ,........no effect -sent me in for a shoulder MRI........but then never reviewed it , until I brought it up 3 times . Then glanced at it and dismissed it. -gave me spinal injection ,.....no effect except worry about spinal injection -instructed me to see a second neurologist , but when I called them, they said they wouldn't do second opinions. He seemed to just keep guessing at next step , didn't seem to really stop and ponder how to proceed. Seemed out of touch about the referrals he made. I felt that he churned patients through as fast as possible, hence his shortness in discussing my concerns /suggestions So once I add that to his rude, demeaning attitude , I'm never going back! ! read more

* This place is brutal. I was referred by my physical therapists and was scheduled three weeks out with the Physician's Assistant for an acute shoulder injury. There was no way to get in earlier, which is understandable. However, I showed up at 10:30am, my appointment time,with all my new patient paperwork and insurance information already completed. Then,I wasn't even called until 11:30am. This place is a patient mill with little regard for your time or priorities. If it takes over an hour to be called to see a Physician's Assistant, how long would it take to see the doctor? I'm completely dissatisfied with their regard for a patient's time. Dr. Kramer is a very nice and friendly doctor and so is his staff, but the wait times before appointments were so awful that I had to switch to another doctor. There was not one single time that I didn't wait less than 45 minutes to see Dr. Kramer. Once I even waited for 1.5 hours. He would talk to me for about 4 minutes and then my appointment would be over. Since he did all my scans/tests and I had been seeing him for 1 year, I was hesitant to switch doctors but after having to keep clocking out from work for too long I simply had to. Don't really know how good Dr. Sten is, because his office staff is dumber than a box of hammers. I waited 45 minutes to get in the back, then waited 15 more minutes only to find out that they didn't have a copy of my MRIs that his brother Dr. Warren Kramer had ordered. Now, the receptionist had told me they had the copies before I left, so naturally I was ecstatic. SO, at that point there was no point to seeing the doctor, so I left. On the way out, I got zero appologies from the staff and no answer as to why they told me to come, when they didnt have what they say they did. The top prize of stupidity goes to "office manager" Pamela Patterson. Not only was she incompetent and disrespectful, but she likely forged a letter from Dr. Kramer to say that he would no longer see me (which is intereting since he NEVER saw me!). I have always trusted Sten and have been seeing him for over a decade. Today one of his snot nose arrogant PAs blew in the door like I should be grateful for her presence. I did not get her name because she and three other little girls came in and she introduced everyone in 10 seconds. She also told me I needed to pick one ailment to be seen for. My neck and back are connected right so either or? She started badgering with questions and I use that word correctly. I stopped the interrogation and told her I did not like this and asked if we needed to start over. She rolled her eyes. Sten was not happy as I am sure he heard the ego version. Not sure why Sten and family insist on being that young entry level training facility. This pa was arrogant and had zero to offer as a healer. I would bet the young girls witnessing this were applauding me to have to deal with such an arrogant little girl who thinks she knows anything about healing. Next.. Let me start by saying I have NEVER written a yelp review. In fact, I signed up to write this one. After waiting 6 weeks to get an appointment, I arrived, as instructed, 15 min prior to fill out any needed paperwork ( I would have been earlier but I drove around the very large parking lot for 10 mins trying to find a spot!) There were no seats left in the waiting room (of approx 20) and 2 people ahead of me to sign in. My appointment was scheduled at 10:30. At 11:00 I went to the rather surly receptionist who couldn't be bothered to smile at a new patient when she took my insurance card, and asked how long the wait was going to be. She said 'He is running over an hour late'. I asked if that meant I would be seen at 11:30 (having already waited 30 mins) and she said she couldn't say 'there are at least 3 people ahead of you'. I asked why she hadn't mentioned that to me when I signed in perhaps giving me the option to reschedule before I wasted my time. 'They didn't tell me they were running behind' was her answer. Really? I walked out and will not reschedule. I can't say if he is a good doctor - he may be the best - but there is NO EXCUSE for being so disrespectful of other people's time. Shame on them! read more

Dr. Kramer was a second opinion for me, but I sure can say that I wish I went to him first. After a cervical fusion surgery from a different doctor about 6 years ago, I contacted Sten to check in on the surgery and see if anything raised concern. Sten was very thorough with me over the course of multiple appointments, and paid attention to every detail, leaving nothing unchecked. Go elsewhere. Why? 1. Average wait time for appointments exceed 1 1/2 hours. On a good day. 2. When the doctor finally arrives he acts like he's doing you a favor and doesn't want to spend any 'extra' time other than amount it takes to dictate to female assistant notetaker. 3. He acts like you're very lucky to be one of their patients if you're not a celebrity. If you are a celebrity, he wants your signature on the wall to attract other patients. 4. He doesn't take the time to disclose the downsides of his recommendations (Rx, PT, etc.). 5. He has a chip on his shoulder. His brother (who runs the office with him) is the one who's well known. 6. Beware: the Kramer brothers refer patients back and forth to keep the money in-house. They also send bills after you've left and paid for the appointments to try to collect additional money they're not entitled to. Slime. read more

I've been going to Dr. Sten for a year with back problems that I've had for about 10 years. I'm a competitive triathlete so it's a big drag when I'd have to withdraw from race after race because no one could tell what was going on. I had Botox injections, acupuncture, you name it. What I'm getting around to saying is he's excellent. Nice guy who describes stuff in "human." The office is called Kramer Orthopedics and they practice the best in sports medicine around. I have been suffering from Spinal Stenosis since 2003. I have had countless pain management physicians over the years. I also have had many steroid injections, most of them not very helpful. Under the care of Dr. Kramer I have been given spinal injections that really work. Not only do I get long lasting pain relief but I am able to go to his surgical center within a few days or less when I am in severe pain. With my previous doctor my wait time could be weeks! He also takes the time to explain what's going on using MRI'S during the appointment so I feel confident about his decisions. He is caring, he listens and is sympathetic. He was the surgeon who replaced my Electric Stimulator Implant after it was destroyed during hip surgery. That surgery was virtually painless and my recovery was quick. His staff makes you feel welcome and are understanding and go the extra mile to help where they can, with records, billing and appointments. Dr. Kramer also referred me to Rising Sun Physical Therapy group were I received the best treatment I have ever had and I've had many PT visits in the past that were a waste of time. Dr. Sten Kramer has been a true life saver for me. I had a cervical fusion 12 years ago and have tried many therapies to get out of the pain. At one of my many follow-ups my surgeon told me about Dr. Kramer. I must say at my first meeting I didn't feel that he was very warm and friendly. I now understand that he was fiercely concentrating on the facts. He ordered tests and dialed into my pain like no one else. I practiced patience during the diagnosis period which I think is very important. I had nothing to lose but the pain. Dr. Kramer got it!! My life is so much different due to his due diligence, I have stopped 2 medications and greatly reduced the amount of another. I had a flare up after an arthritis surgery and his staff jumped through many hoops to get me scheduled the very day he returned to his office. I was referred to Sten Kramer by the BEST cervical spine doctor in Orange County and I am mystified about the difference between a real doctor and Mr. Kramer. Kramer clearly thinks very highly of himself and, as a technician, he may be just fine. I had two epidural procedures performed by him without being rolled out in an ambulance like another person who wrote a review I read. He asks questions and cuts you off in the middle of the answer. I'm sure he'll never take the time to read this review... it's too long for him. Unlike other reviews, I had no complaints about the wait time but he's so impressed with himself that he doesn't have the time to explain any questions I had. It must be nice to have so much business that you don't care about customer satisfaction. I can promise that the two doctors who were involved in referring me to Mr. Kramer have been informed in great detail about my encounter with him. Dr. Sten Kramer is one of THE best doc's you could EVER see if you have any orthopedic issues. For over 7 years, I have been lucky enough to have him SUCCESSFULLY treat multiple parts of my body that just started to wear out from age and from being in sports for the majority of my early years. Pls remember that most patients who go to see him are in serious pain to begin with and thus, a bit cranky. (Probably in pain when they wrote those not so nice reviews!) (It's been my observation over the years, that any schedule delays are usually because they see VERY complex cases - and he NEVER shortchange patients.). Dr. Sten Kramer is THE guy to see if you want the best! (Take a look at his Bio/credentials.). Yet, Dr.Sten is one of the most HUMBLE, POSITIVE people that you will ever meet. In fact, ONLY because Dr.Sten recently ordered an orthopedic scan, did the radiologist discover a large mass (thankfully, benign!), growing in a nearby part of my body (not orthopedic-related!). I had just had check-ups with my regular doc's, 2 months prior (and ultrasound 2 yrs before, of that affected body part) - and yet, they had all missed this large mass - except Dr. Kramer!!! Dr. Sten. (He has a brother in the same practice.) not only has greatly improved my quality of life, but he recently may have just saved my life, as well! (I feel so impressed w/Dr.Kramer that I will literally go up to strangers that I see hobbling along in apparent pain, in Target, and give them his contact info!).
