My daughter used to be in EPP through the school, but we found their doubled-up curriculum to be too much for her. She was understanding the work itself, but the fast pace in place of going in depth into the math concepts they were studying wasn't doing her a bit of good - in fact it often left her feeling like a failure. Once she was back in her regular math class, her grades were slipping because she was bored! She needed something more in order to keep up her interest. She still tested as if she should be in the advanced curriculum, but her grades were definitely not relfecting that.
We then enrolled in the weekly math class with STEM-U and never looked back! Not only is it an affordable class, my daughter thoroughly enjoys herself and has been able to easily apply the FUN work they do in her STEM-U class to what she is learning in school! She comes home excited about math now, instead of feeling dejected and frustrated. She is eager to go to her next math class and sad when we have to miss one.
Her testing scores and math grades have continued to rise, as well as her confidence. Her confidence is by far the most important part to me, as her mother. Girls so often begin to drop off the map in STEM subjects around this age and the support she is receiving and real-life application that she is learning in her STEM-U class has worked wonders.
We both adore all of the teachers we have met, and the owners are very easy to work with and communicate with.
She has also completed many of the drone and spheros workshops, and has since begun working with a drone and her own spheros at home! She looks forward to beginning some of the more intermediate programming classes in the future.
This is one exracurricular that we will be continuing for quite some time! Very, very worth it!
