Short Stop is an invaluable center in the Short North. This is a haven for city kids ages 7-19…read more Short Stop caters mainly to low-income families. They have lots of programming for youth, but they place a major focus on art. Walk by their building, formerly a church, and you'll see their painted butterfly door, inviting colorful benches, chalked steps, and lively characters lining the back wall near the basketball court. All of this art was created by the Short Stop kids. Short Stop also sells blank cards and Christmas cards featuring art by young artists. On the back of the card, you get a photo and a description about the child who created your piece. It's awesome. I love seeing what comes out of these kids minds and then reading about who they are and how they view life. The cards are affordably priced too. About a month ago, Short Stop did a fundraiser with ROY G BIV Gallery. They collected people's old wooden and storm doors and painted them in the Fireproof Records parking lot. They then sold them to passersby or back to the people who donated the doors in the first place. Some of the paintings were very mature. I could definitely see direction there. Other art programs include vocal and theatrical groups. Short Stop also offers homework help, supervised recreation, and allows a bit of computer time so the kids can gain experience and familiarize themselves with the digital world. I'm sure some of these kids' families can't afford a computer, so Short Stop really helps them keep up with their peers from this perspective. As cliché as it sounds, Short Stop gives city kids alternatives. It keeps them busy so they're off the streets, away from drugs and delinquent behavior. It allows them to have mentors and positive role models. It allows them to form bonds with other kids who are like them. Short Stop is just a great facility.

My wife and I have been sending our daughter to her throughout the summer. The results are incredible. The Riley Academy is a hidden Gem, that is definitely a great investment for your family. This service has improved our daughters reading skills and made her excited about learning. I will also note that this is based in Cincinnati and we live in Columbus, so the sessions have all been virtual. Brittany has formed a great connection with our 5 year old, to the point where she looks forward to these daily sessions. If you are eager to keep your child ahead, and excited about learning I would highly recommend this service as a compliment to any school program. We did 5 days per week throughout the summer, and plan to do weekend sessions throughout the school year. These services have been a blessing during this pandemic. Definitely worth the money and investment. Our daughter has done sessions both on the iPad and on the computer. Thank-you Brittany & The Riley Academy! We really appreciate what you have done for our daughter.

The…read moreMitchell Hall is the home of School of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts that was just built in 2019. Hoping that the event would be held at polished and corporate location, I was pleasantly surprised that this location lived up to my expectations. Ambiance: The Mitchell Hall is the state-of-the-art facility with modern architecture and plenty of natural light. The first floor features multiple kitchens, culinary labs, bakery, culinary theater, Degrees restaurant, Blend Café, and a boardroom. I walked around during the conference break curious about the interior. It's modern, contemporary, and clean. Most of my time was spent at the event center on the second floor. The campus is right in the heart of Columbus. The event center provides a panoramic view of downtown Columbus, and there's a nice balcony. The space conveniently welcomed us (hundreds of attendees), had a stage, and many networking nooks. I found it very convenient to have seating separate from the conference room to unwind. Parking: Multiple parking lots are available onsite. Each parking lot is clearly marked for intended users - students, faculty, or specific groups. QR codes can be conveniently scanned for parking, number of hours selected. It has to be the most modern parking system I have seen on college campuses. It was quite complex to find the parking lots closest to the events due to small font numeration system. I'd recommend this facility to anyone looking to host events. It provides enough seclusion from the downtown chaos and modern ambiance. It's a presentable location with versatile space options.

I don't know if you can request instructors but if you can, you need to get in his class. It's not easy to make 35 hours of class work crammed into 4 days interesting and engaging, but he did so with ease. I took the mock exam two days later, having done no extra studying, and I couldn't believe how well I scored just based on the class learning alone. He teaches in a way that makes the course material stick in your mind, even when you don't think it is. As I continue my self-study before the scheduled exam, I find myself referencing the notes from the class far more than the PMI books. Truly, a 10/10 experience, and if I seek out any more certifications I'll be checking to see if he is instructing any of them so I can sign up for his classes.
