I went to the store near my home. It is on Layton Ave. I think it's Greenfield WI.? I went and looked and went back with my wife. We bought the Canyon set and customized it to fit out needs. a Sofa, Lovesear, and recliner. The salesman was not pushy, and we looked mainly at 3 different sets and price points. We choose the middle one b/c we liked it best. We scheduled the delivery on a weekend day so we could be there. About 3 weeks after purchase. It was delivered in a Steinhafels Truck- 3 workers. They called just before arriving. They were polite and careful. They ser it all up and checked that all the features worked. It was a pleasant experience so far. We did get the 4 yr. warranty at a reduced price too. I hope we never have to use it. If we do, I'll post up another review LOL. read more

We bought a new wedge piece for the Snuggler couch. Noticed a large piece of metal sticking out when it was delivered. Took 2+ weeks to have a replacement delivered. Within a month, the cheap furniture paper they use to cover the frame on the armrest has already broken. Customer service refuses to stand behind their product due to the fact we didn't purchase the protection plan. I could understand if we called in after 6, or even 3 months, but nope no warranty or standing behind your product at Steinhafels! Bought an electric reclining sofa. Thank goodness I took the service plan. 6 months was the first breakdown. Burnt out switch. It took a total of 4 months to schedule an appointment Wait for parts and reschedule. Eight months later it burnt out again. Same thing but they sent the wrong part so now its even longer. Can't talk to any supervisor. If Steinhafels pushes this plan it should make sure you're taken care of. Terrible service. read more

Everything! Prices are too High and the Service is terrible. The Warranty they sell is Garbage and it isn't worth the paper it's written on. We paid over $1300 for a Recliner less than 2 years ago and we had a problem with the remote. Called the warranty company and it was extremely hard to get anyone to respond. Once they did they said it would be 12 weeks to get a new one. Well, it's way past that and still no remote. Five years ago we purchased new living room furniture & purchased a fabric protection plan. They said if we did not utilize the protection plan we would get our money back. Not true..... You get a "protection plan reward coupon" back-like an in store credit. OK.... I purchased a mattress & platform bed frame two weeks ago & received the coupon today. I called to see if I could apply it towards my recent purchase. The gentleman said it can not be applied towards a past purchase! I can see if I had purchased the items six months ago, but it was two weeks ago! Very disappointed! Steinhafels is NOT the company it used to be!! We had to hire someone to put the platform bed together. They do not even offer that!! A lot of self service & not customer service! We purchased two recliners, received them got them in the house sat down and was uncomfortable in 1 of the 2 we purchased. i picked 1 chair and my husband picked a chair (same brand but different chairs) very similar $50 difference. I called immediately stating I was uncomfortable and unsatisfied with the lower value chair and asked to return to exchange for the higher value chair. Tag still on BRAND new Chair back in box it arrived in. CS informed me that I could only return the chair and pay them another 15% to "restock" and then I can buy the upgraded chair. After taking a mattress survey in order to receive a $25 gift card to a local restaurant with salesperson Dan Alfaro. Mr. Alfaro and the store refuse to respond to my requests for the gift. The store phone directory is set up so that it is almost impossible to reach anyone and I learned they don't respond to emails. Local furniture store next to Best Buy in Crystal Lake. Kind of unnerving when coming for our first visit and meet some angry customers in the parking lot advising us not to shop here because they had a very bad experience and didn't get their money back. Not sure what that was all about. None of the employees inside the store seemed to know what happened. Just like most furniture stores, as soon as you enter a sales person immediately rushes over to ask if you need help. They usher you to the appropriate department and keep helping you look for what you want/need. Thankfully, we were able to make a quick escape when our sales person was taking too long looking up something on the computer. Prices here are kind of on the higher end. read more

We purchased a sectional in August of 2021 from Lindsay. It was, of course, in the heart of the pandemic and supply chain issues were well known. We discussed this with Lindsay and she assured us that if we ordered from a particular manufacturer, and ordered without any bells or whistles she was very confident the sectional would be ready and delivered in September. Well as I write this on March 19th we still do not have the sofa AND WE HAD TO PAY IN FULL UP FRONT. Every month we go look up the order and it will always say the expected delivery is the upcoming month....until the upcoming month comes and then it is the next month. We are about to cancel the order and actually pay more for a like sofa from another store even if that means we ultimately gamble and maybe wait even longer. If I was the sales person I would be all over my customers letting them know what the delay was, being apologetic, etc.....the only time we have heard from Lindsay is when I emailed her about 3 months ago and she took no ownership of the debacle at all. The following week, finally received a call from Peter. Peter told me they could replace the furniture - but when challenged whether this would resolve the issue, he said likely it would not, I would have to shop for a cord that works - I am using the Apple issued cord with my MacBook - UNACCEPTABLE! I asked for a credit for my inconvenience and to cover the cost of "trying to find a working cord", they would give me $150 credit - WHAT!?!?. The other option was to get a full credit because they would pick-up & return the furniture. This is the option I've chosen and will NEVER shop or recommend Steinhafels again! In addition to the issues above, the furniture had an issue - when you reclined, everything was fine but when you go back to sitting position, the fabric under your knees folds in because of pressure on it. To fix, you had to get up off the piece, recline without any weight in the seat and then return to sit position. I can see over time this was going to leave creases in the fabric and padding that would not be pretty. It took over 9 months for my five pieces of living room furniture to be delivered - OBSURD! One of the two installers, upon delivery, reeked of marijuana...truly unethical and unprofessional! 14 of the 16 furniture feet were herky jerky installed, i.e., missing screws, stripped screw holes and improperly aligned/square to each corner. I bought a couch and extended warranty that was supposed to cover everything. In under 2 years the seam split and fabric is splitting in other areas. They refuse to honor the warranty stating it is normal wear. Customer Service is rude and pretty much told me I should just spill ink all over the couch. On 5/24/24, I ordered a table and chair set from Steinhafels in Crystal Lake from salesperson, Laura Heiting. I was to wait a few weeks, however it was 7 or 8 weeks. The items were supposed to be delivered yesterday from 1015-1215. I received many texts/emails to make sure I was present or I would have to pay a fee. I was of course home all day and the delivery guys said that some of the items are damaged in shipping. The guys who loaded the truck didn't secure the table or some chairs and they were not properly covered with moving blankets. The delivery guys brought some of the chairs in and didn't bring them all in because of the damages, the table was also never brought in because they said it was extensive. I found damage on a chair that they said was good, so they took the table and chairs back and they left. I was told that they would call me in a couple of hours... I never received a call or email. I tried to call customer service and they didn't really care, just said I had to take the doctored furniture and deal with the condition that they are in. I agreed to pay for new chairs and a table set, not used or beat up furniture. These items totaled to $5177.37. These are not cheap items. I also tried calling the store, however the calls get rerouted to the customer service dept. The sales rep (Laura Heiting) called me today (per my email) and she laughed and said I was stuck, then hung up on me. Attempted delivery was 6/26/24. read more

Okay this store has horrible customer service. We arrived at the store Saturday morning at a little after 11:00 a.m. No one said hello or even acknowledged that we were there. After about an hour we had a couple of questions. The only person we could find was a young lady at the center desk area. She was on the phone, and never looked up, or even noticed. After ten minutes, or so we went back and asked for help. She showed us where the fabric samples were at. She never asked if she could help, or get someone that could help. About a month ago we went in and a salesman asked if we needed help, we informed him we were getting ideas for a new house and just looking that day. He proceeded to follow us through the store, he even went so far as to wait outside the bathroom when we made a pit stop. I was so uncomfortable we left. Yesterday I tried to go look again and again the aggressive sales tactics. I told them I was uncomfortable with that and changed my mind and asked to cancel it. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever been a part of. Purchased a sofa pit group. Delivery people were great. Original saleswoman great. Very professional. After couch arrived the realization that a sofa floor lamp was needed. We returned to store. Salesman was the laziest person I've ever met. We couldn't purchase lamp. Said it could be delivered on Wednesday. Since we cannot put couch rug in permanent spot without lamp. We inquired about other stores having lamp in stock. We were told we could go to Wisconsin warehouse and purchase. ( store 1 1/2 hours away) Due to lack of free time during week we set off to Wisconsin. Calling customer service to make sure transaction would and could occur. Iij Upon arrival we were told they couldn't sell item on a SUNDAY. Little salesman seemed to enjoy the run around we were on ( probably because he had to work and miss part of superbowl) He and others at store did nothing. They all enjoyed our wasted day. I will tell everyone I ever have a furniture conversation with that STEINHAFELS is absolutely what is wrong with small businesses. Zero effort put in to accommodate customers. They know business is booming due to nobody able to vacation last summer and people spending that money on there house. Do not shop here. My dad and I went in to this store on November 19th to look at what they had because he needed some living room furniture. We saw that they had an outlet section in the back and there were some nice, very reasonable love seats and sofas. We told the sales rep, Sam, that we wanted to purchase one of each and he brought us to the register and charged my dad's card for $635.70. It was only after he took the money, that he told us that the full size sofa would not be in stock until December 3rd. He said we would have to check back on the website frequently to schedule the delivery ourselves because he could not pre-schedule for us. A little inconvenient, but we were happy with the price so it was fine. As soon as we got home we checked the website like he said, and the sofa then said it wouldn't be available until the end of December but did not offer a specific date. Fast forward to now and it has been almost 2 months and we have not received the sofa. My dad has called several times to customer service and the representatives are continuously rude and condescending. I work at a call center so I understand the job is not glamorous...but these people are rude. My dad spoke with a guy today who laughed when he explained the issue. Sir...use your headset to mute yourself next time you need to laugh at a customer, honestly. They will not take a return on the loveseat that we already have, but they will not tell us when or even IF we are getting the sofa. My dad asked to speak with the store manager at the Crystal Lake location and the representative would not let him. We have left several messages by phone for Sam, but he responds via email with a pre-written template about how he is sorry for the inconvenience. We are understanding that there is a pandemic which is slowing down operations for everyone. But my problem with this store is that they sold something to us that they didn't have-and it was not disclosed that they didn't have it. You shouldn't take someone's money if you knowingly don't have what they want...and now if we never get the full size sofa then we are going to be stuck with mismatched furniture because they refuse to take the loveseat back. We didn't buy a floor model and we didn't spend thousands on a fancy living room set-but you took my father's money. We bought from the Outlet section because that's what we could afford, and now he's out at least $323 and only has a loveseat. I bought a power recliner which did not work when I set it up and plugged it in. Steinhafels agreed to replace it but will not set it up and test it. Since this chair is for my 95 year old mother, I will have to do all of that myself, again (I'm a 68 year old female with limited strength!). I requested an exception to their so-called policy but the customer service representative rudely refused. I've purchased from Steinhafels in the past but not the Crystal Lake facility. We needed a couch and loveseat. I decided to go try the Crystal Lake facility as in the past I've purchased from Wisconsin. We found the couch/loveseat we liked and was informed the loveseat was in but not the couch which would take another few weeks due to shipping issues. Not a problem. We noticed that they were having a one year interest free if we use the Steinhafels credit. How can you beat free right? So we signed up, signed all the forms and out the door we went. Weeks went by. Saleslady seemed nice enough but still nothing with an always another week or two. So I decided since they had the loveseat in stock I'd get that delivered separately and wait for the couch. I set up delivery which required another $50. Okay. No problem. I gave my credit card info to Nate (847.281.0043), the Store Manager with delivery expected in a few days. In the interim the saleslady called and the couch came in and when I asked about my $50 she said we'd get it back on our credit card as we had already paid for delivery for both items. Everything arrived fine other than the legs of the couch were not fitting correctly and they said they would schedule an appointment to have someone come out and fix the problem. No problem. Delivery guys were good. I gave them each an extra $10 for their hard work. I waited and waited for my $50 to go back on my credit card. I called and found out Nate decided on his own to send my $50 to the credit company financing the purchase instead of returning it to my credit card. So I told Nate he needed to correct this. He told me time and time again he wouldn't and couldn't. I told Nate report I'd report Steinhafels to the State Attorney Generals office, have the bank do a reverse credit charge and I'd post in Yelp. With this posting all 3 are now done. Soooo, be careful of Steinhafels, especially Nate who seems to have a very crappy attitude and feels he knows how to spend your money better than you. read more

My husband and I purchased furniture from Steinhafels in Vernon Hills about 5 years ago as the Crystal Lake location wasn't open yet. We had a great experience at that store and ended up purchasing a large sectional and kitchen table set. At that time we had also purchased their protection plan for the furniture since they had talked to us about how if you don't use the insurance throughout the 5 years, when it expired, you would get a credit back to be used in the store for the full amount that you paid! Sounded like a win-win to us... until now. I had contacted the Steinhafels customer service in March as I knew that our protection plan was almost up and we had moved to a new house since purchasing it. I had them update my address and was told that they would send the credit voucher to my new home and that they were a bit behind due to Covid. I was told that it wouldn't be sent until May. I didn't think much else about it until last month when I realized I never received anything. I contacted customer service again and they said it was sent to my new home in April, and is now expired. I couldn't believe it! I open ALL OF MY MAIL and I know it wasn't received! I was then told that I could contact the store closest to me and speak to them to see if they would honor the full amount. My husband and I went last weekend to this location and explained that we never received the voucher and that if they would honor the full amount, which was under $350, we would buy a king mattress at their store since we are looking to replace ours (obviously we would be spending much more $ in their store as mattresses aren't cheap.) If they wouldn't honor the full amount, we were upfront and honest and explained we would then only use the credit amount in the store to buy something within the credit amount AND explained we would post our experience on social media. My wife and I spent good money here - five chairs, an ottoman and a back buffet table. Since there were 2 orders they wanted 2 delivery fees. We said we'd wait. After a month and a half I called to find out where we were and they informed me 2 of the pieces were further delayed. No call? They agreed to send without the fees. So three chairs and the buffet arrive. I called again one week later and they said the chair and ottoman were in but the other chair would be delayed until Mid/November. Again, no call? I said to please cancel that one and ship the other as soon as they can. Two weeks out. Fine, I'm leaving town the day of delivery and need to please schedule in the morning or if more than likely need to change the date. They said it pushes me out an additional three weeks to which I said I'd need to make other arrangements and cancel. Ok, not an issue. They called to confirm my "late afternoon" delivery 9/28. I'm not sure if we're speaking the same language. Their solution to customer issues is simply cancel and move on. Quality of merchandise is nice, and salesperson was very communicative with the status of the backorder and delivery. However; the chairs did not look good for the place they were intended so they had to be returned. Be aware of the restocking charge which was not explained at the time of purchase; the salesperson put a squiggle through the line that was supposed to be signed by the customer and the manager handling the return seemed to not believe me when I said that was not my signature. I would consider shopping there again but only if I'm certain I will not need to return it. The reason for this post is to inform consumers that they have a restocking charge which applies 'at the time of possession' as explained by the manager. read more
