Visited Amici's restaurant for their Italian night which is £9.95 for a 4 course meal every monday…read morenight. The set menu changes every week so we were not sure what was on offer until we arrived. We were given a tomato and lentil soup, mussels with a garlic sauce, gnocci in a tomato and mozzrella sauce and then a cheesecake for dessert. My husband didn't fancy the look of this and was a bit put out that there was no meat on offer so ordered from the regualr menu instead. The portion sizes were very small, the soup was good but the gnocci was boring and the cheesecake had a very stange texture. I actually ended up making toast later at home because I was still hungry so a little disappointing! Service was ok considering how busy it was but could have been a little more organised, if each waiter/ waitress had specific tables they might have noticed that we were not offered drinks or bread when we were seated, half our cutlery was missing and the bill took so long that we ended up going to the bar for it. The girl behind the bar was lovely. All in all, even though this does not sound like a great review I think we well try this place again

The only point I might put foodwise is that the fried mozzarella starter could have had some sort of a garnish, but that aside it was very tasty! The restaurant is pretty noisy, I think because of the laminate floor and it is a little dark in there, candles on the tables would help All in all, a very good restaurant - would definitely return

Piccolino's is one of the better Italian restaurant chains in the country (I'm thinking it…read moresurpasses Bella Italia for sure), and having tried the restaurants in Liverpool and Leeds city centre I decided to try Ilkley's own Piccolino. A relatively new edition to Ilkley's restaurant scene (it used to be a pub/bar/eatery called Johnson's) it is in a building which gives quality views over the moors - I know this from when it was Johnsons, unfortunately I couldn't get a seat by the window this time. And it was lunchtime! Yes, it was very busy at lunchtime, but that's because it's very, very good, especially if you regard Italian food in the same way I do - i.e., the best cuisine in the world. The pastas and more adventurous dishes all sounded great but knowing my Piccolino's, I went for a garlic bread pizza followed by another pizza (pollo) for my main. Their pizzas truly are some of the best you can get, and, other than Salvo's in Headingley, I can't think of anywhere I'd rather have on than at a Piccolino's. Little pricey though.

Well when a stomach talks to you, you either have to check into those padded walled rooms or listen to it. I went for the latter and some cheese action at Piccolino. With my best fake (and rather foolish) Italian accent I head on down. I love this venue. Not too far from those beautiful rolling hills and famous moors, it's in Ikley and it is Italian food served the real way. We're talking woodstone ovens here. It's nice to start with some traditional antipasta and then I move on to the pizza baby. It's all about the pizza and for me the goats cheese one is out of this world. Great bit of cheese action if I say so myself. There are plenty of other options too from fish to meats and it's just how an Italian should be. Simple yet delicious. Try save some room for the array of sweet delights and I'm always partial to a nice coffee served with the hard stuff after. Good service, great venue and as to be expected cracking wine list. It's not cheap but it's not the worst either. Plenty to sing about here in a good Italian operatic tone (or lack of).

I won't even mention the 70's decor, stuffed teddies on plinths and the dodgy toilets...?! The starters seemed ok but the main meals were not good, the steak smelt off and was not cooked as requested, veg either near raw or soggy, too much salt on potatoes and when one of our party sent their chicken dish back and asked for a pizza instead they tried to charge us for both on the bill! After that we were not asked if we wanted desert or coffee and had to wait ages for the bill to arrive. To be fair there were only two young waitresses who were far too busy and not very well trained (our waitress dropped a knife on my friend and didn't know when we asked what a certain veg was - which turned out to be slimy boiled artichoke!) the main clientele seemed to be older couples who I assume have lost their sense of taste... If you fancy Italian, Amici's on Low street is far better...go there instead!

Service was polite and attentive, but we only had time for a main, and a coffee. Two had chicken dishes, two Scallopini di Vitello alla Marsala, and one a steak dish. All were what I would describe as 'acceptable' without being really haute cuisine. All dishes served with side vegetables , and prices were reasonable.
