I came here last year after my previous gym closed. My last gym was my home and a very big part of…read moremy life as I also worked there. Solid Rock opened us with welcome arms and made sure we knew that we belonged here too. Not only is the community outstanding, but the programming is amazing. I feel so much stronger and have more energy. They also do nutrition challenges and planning so you can become the best version of yourself. These people really do it all and I can't imagine the past year without them.

Lovely spacious studio with natural light coming in through the windows. I accidentally walked into…read morethe wrong (the meditation?) studio (they have separate doors), but the instructor was so gracious and kind about it and directed me to the second door. Becca, my instructor, was so comfortable to be with, and the hour was really wonderful. I would recommend the yoga experience to anyone. I know when I have connected with the yoga experience because afterwards I feel a thousand times more relaxed, stretched, at peace than I was before class (and before this class I was particularly needing some help accessing my conscious self). YogaLife gets 5 Zen Stars from me. Also, Becca's studio offers yoga teacher training as well (10 weekends and about one weekend a month I believe for your 200 hours) and you can join at any weekend since they are separate sessions, so if you are interested in that, I would definitely recommend coming to check out a regular class to see what you think.

I was a frequent yoga class attendee until a fall dislocated my shoulder. I had several months of…read morerehabilitation and was very nervous to get back into my yoga routine for fear of slippage. I moved to OKC very recently and figured now is as good a time as any to give it a go (new place, new attitude, right?). I was specifically looking for a studio that had a gentle class so I could ease myself back in. (I had done a bit at home at this point, but felt a gentle class would be the best way to get back into the groove for my body). I signed up for the Gentle Yoga class at YogaLife Studio in Norman with Kaye. It was perfect and just what I needed. While the gentle class definitely caters to an older generation, it worked wonders for what I needed. Kaye also offered plenty of modifications so that if I felt I wanted a bit "more" I was able to get right into it without missing a beat. She guides you through just perfectly without it feeling like a competition. After all, your yoga practice should be your own.. not the person next to or across from you! The studio is small, but nice and clean - and they are opening a new one right next door soon so they can accommodate more people. It's about a 40 minute ride for me, but it's worth it and I'll be continuing my yoga practice there, while I still live at the south end of town.

I found Rick through my friends and I'm so glad. He has kickstarted a real desire to get in shape…read moreto be strong and healthy for my family and he's getting me the tools I need to accomplish my goals. He comes to his clients and this is a huge benefit to me. He brings everything we need for our session and he keeps track of where I am with everything. He corrects my form, suggests modifications and helps push me farther that I would normally push myself. I do feel like I'm improving and getting stronger, but the main thing is it has spurred me to doing other things that I had not done in forever, like logging my calories and trying out a new kind of cardio (see my Urban Row review). I think my husband is so polite and afraid to hurt my feelings, he never comments on my food choices or my lack of physical activity, and that's probably for the best. But it's nice to have someone charged with keeping me pointed in the right direction. But most importantly, he puts up with me. He has a really great attitude; mine, not so much. I think the top three things he hears me say are: are you counting?!, is this right?, and I hate this! But he takes all of that grumpy, self-doubting, self-deprecating complaining and somehow manages to be cheerful and fun and funny. I don't like working out, but I like hanging out with Rick, so I'm going to stick with it.

Rick is a pretty swell fellow. I've been going to him for a little over a year now. My strength and…read moreform have definitely improved thanks to him. Any being chubbers still is pretty much on me and my off and on crap eating habits. I DIGRESS. Rick is fantastic at what he does and is great at adding a personal spin on each individual's routine. Like me, for instance. I'm packin' a heavy punch in the upstairs department (no, not my brain. My boobs!) and a couple of exercises aren't that comfortable to do, 'cause there's a lot of squishing or smacking/punching for certain movements. Just be vocal about your boobage situation and he'll make changes for you. Be nice to yo girls. His schedule is pretty flexible as far as I'm concerned. He offers the training at his own home in Norman or you can choose a place of your own preference. Such as, I live in OKC and I don't always want to drive to Norman. It's about $10 extra for him to come to me, but it's worth it most of the time. I like to lounge on the couch until Rick arrives and then complain for 5 minutes about having to work out. It's a good routine. He's a cool dude and a great trainer.
