When we took her to our local vet, it was confirmed and we were informed there was a 80% chance she would injury her other one. In the meantime we scheduled with an orthopedic surgeon an hour from us (this was the closest to us). That weekend, she did indeed end up tearing the other one. When we met with the orthopedic surgeon, she seemed distant and not compassionate at all. When I would ask questions, she seemed threatened as if I shouldn't be questioning things. When we left the appointment my husband spoke up and said let's find a different surgeon. Bless his heart, we weren't even out of the parking lot and he was searching. He came across Dr. Jacobson at The Hometown Vet. Of course we did our research since we knew what she needed. I called The Hometown Vet, and was welcomed by a pleasant receptionists that connected me with Dr. Jacobson himself due to my specific questions. He was genuine on the phone and so willing to go out of his way. We were able to get Nova in, in a decent amount of time for her surgery. When we arrived, we were welcomed by very friendly staff and the facility was very clean. Dr. Jacobson entered our room with a very friendly welcome and was very compassionate about Nova's situation. Pick up day: Today, we picked Nova up from surgery. Once again, all staff (staff I hadn't met yet) were all so friendly and welcoming. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Franken to go over our discharge for Nova. She was also very friendly, compassionate, and thorough. We definitely wish we lived closer, The Hometown Vet would become our primary care. For anyone near and far, this was by far our best vet experience ever, and we have 6 dogs if that tells you anything:)

Our family used another vet in town for over two decades, but they started to really decline. The vets wouldn't see patients anymore. Instead, unqualified "techs" pretending to be DVMs were doing all the exams, procedures, attempting to diagnose and treat "patients" - everything. We were paying for DVM care, but not getting it and our pets were painfully suffering the consequences. After many SERIOUS mistakes made by their "techs", that could have been disasterous-it became obvious that it was a matter of time before one of ours ended up seriously hurt, or WORSE. I was very worried about leaving that clinic after so many years of trusting them, but it was honestly the very BEST choice we could have made. Compassionate Care is absolutely awesome. They are responsive, attentive and the competency of the entire staff is clearly superior. One of our dogs had been suffering for years with ear infections and we had spent hundreds with the old vet clinic trying to get it cleared up - we were in every month with the same issue. Dr. K immediately identified the problem and for the first time in YEARS, that pooch is now happy, comfortable and has clean, HEALTHY ears - you can tell he has finally found relief. I just SOO wish I'd come here much, much sooner. Very happy with the CC team and we are all extremely appreciative of everything they do- and I would strongly recommend them.

Ever since I have taken Macho to Cedar Heights Pet Clinic my pet receives the greatest treatment. Macho goes there frequently for bathing because he loves working with the vet techs and the groomer. They are very knowledgeable, and their advice has always helped with anything my dog Macho or my cat Tommy needed. We initially went to Community Veterinary Clinc (CVC) because we thought she would have to be sedated. However the groomers took the time need to gain her trust, so they were able to do a full groom. Not only were they able to accomplish this WITHOUT sedation, but they gave her the best haircut she has had in a long time. My wife and I are extremely pleased and satisfied with the groomers at CVC. Dori came home perfectly groomed and HAPPY! The staff throughout the entire experience were welcoming and friendly. They were professionals without the snobbish attitude of some office staff. They only showed a genuine interest in you and your pets welfare. Would definitely recommend them to anyone, any time.

Do you love animals?…read more Of course you do! You have a Yelp account - which means you area living, breathing person; which means you have a soul (depending on your belief.) ((I'm not here to judge people, just places and sometimes things.)) If you not only love animals, but have animals, you may know the stress of going to a new/different veterinary clinic. I have utilized the same clinic since I was a child. I'm not going to tell you my birthday. It will just depress me, and I'm in 'positive review mode'. After much though, and tired of traveling over 90 miles one-way for small vet appointments like shots & check-ups, I decided it was time to take myself off the leash of nostalgia/hometown comfort. I decided to find a new vet that was near my home. I entered this process with skepticism and with little help from Yelp. (Not by their fault, but no one had left a review for the clinics I was considering.) I decided to use this new adventure as a reviewing opportunity. One that I do not regret! Community Vet Clinic is a fairly new establishment in the town that I live. I love their mission statement and dedication to community outreach that is pointed out on their profile. When I entered I was greeted promptly and with a friendly/welcoming demeanor. The vet, Dr. Pleis, was right up front to ask me questions and greet me and my pup. She had a staff member take my dog outside to try and get a sample while she explained to me what they planned to do in the check-up. She spoke with words that I could nod and understand; not just nod and think of different kinds of food I wanted to try after this visit. When they got ready to check out my dog's situation, the vet asked me if I would like to be in the room during the check-up. This was never something I had been asked before. Granted, most of my dog's check-ups are 'drop-off and leave' or during boarding. This was a nice little gesture. I accepted because it was my dog's first time here and it would be good to see how Dr. Pleis interacted with my pet. Dr. Pleis was incredibly gentle, kind, and kept open communication with her assisted staff and the dog itself. Even if my dog was noticeable uncomfortable, she would use soothing tones/language. She would use praise between shifts of body/areas of checking. After she got what she needed, she left briefly to review her samples. This took at a LOT more quickly than I thought it would! Dr. Pleis returned with results, a treatment plan, and also explained to me what I may expect. Again, she used a language I could comprehend. I was at the counter, checking out, in under 30 minutes! Lastly, she smiled, thanked me, and gave Luna a 'cookie' for being a good sport. Overall, this was an absolute, 100%, great experience. Not only did I feel reassured and comfortable, confident in Dr. Pleis's treatment plan but...ABOVE ALL... I think I found a vet I can take my dog too that is 9 blocks, not 90 miles, away. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF: Truthfully, just in general, I recommend Dr. Pleis for your vet care needs. I would say, especially though, if you are like me. I was born & raised & accustomed to a 'small town' or 'rural' vet approach. The kind of place where you know the doctor by name. Where its feel is one of community service rather than a hospital or company operation. I really loved Dr. Pleis's set-up and approach and look forward to going to her continuously for my dog's care. (....I still will stop by my hometown one though...I mean, you need to say 'hi' once in awhile) :)
