Man. I want to give this place more stars but can't. You know how McDonald's tells you to pull up and around if the order is going to take a long time so you pull up and around and then people can go so we don't have to wait for that person to get their food? Well at this Steak and Shake there's curbs on both sides of the drive-thru so once you're locked in you can't leave and if they get a big order they don't pull up into the front of the building they just pull up a little bit past where you pay and get your food and then wait there so you have to sit and wait for them to get their food. Are you understanding why this is very stupid? Why do they even pull up... you can't go, they don't pull around to the front so you can go by them so the people that ordered their food can get it... what they do is they pull up a little bit further so you can get your food while you sit and wait for them to get their food. this location has been hit or miss for years, but they seem to have turned a corner. The burger was cooked fresh and was delicious. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the fries were literally a kids portion. It was pretty ridiculous, but when I expressed my frustration to a teenage worker, he gladly brought me some more and agreed that the portion was inadequate. Then he checked back with me to make sure I was enjoying my meal. Very refreshing to see a young worker that actually cared. That normally only happens at Chick-fil-A. Told the kids it's alright it happens. The jacked up 2 burgers. Forgot bacon on one and garlic whatever on the other. Sent one sandwich back 2xs. The dressed the same sandwich both times. Forgot the garlic on one and bacon on the other. Sandwich has been passed around multiple hands. Definitely might have been a friendly staff. Rediscovered this place with the family recently. Children wanted a burger and randomly we decided, why not give Steak n Shake a try, it's been decades since I've had it. Walked in to be greeted by kiosks. Sure, not the friendliest but it is quite efficient and fast. As we ordered, one of the cooks was super friendly and asked if we needed help and explained their QR code slips for the drinks. It still has that diner feel, but with less staff. However, again, cooks and staff behind the counter were super nice and brought us our food and asked if we needed anything. The menu has lots of options for the kids, only $5-6 per kids meal and it includes a drink! Most restaurants charge you $2-3 for a drink separately so that alone makes it easy to keep this place on our eat out list. Atmosphere - 4/5 Staff - 5/5 Food - 5/5 Overall, I will be bringing the family back. It's not fancy, but I like it better than the other fast food burger joints. I wish I could give this zero star stars. Terrible service. Terrible food. Terrible management. Multiple times (every time but once) our order is wrong. Tonight we ordered a bacon BBQ burger, Frisco melt with no sauce, fries, and coke with no ice. We got a burger with no BBQ sauce, Frisco melt with sauce and EXTRA sauce on the side, mushy uncooked fries, and a cup of 80% ice. Every single part of the order was wrong. Unfortunately my husband only noticed the frisco melt while in the store. He asked them to remake it - and they did. But obviously someone wasn't happy because when we got we home we realized the bread was hardly cooked and the slice of cheese was so "unmelted" that I could peel the slice of cheese off in one piece! I called in to complain and ask for a refund. I was told unless I came back now with everything I couldn't be refunded. We live 30 minutes away and have a six month old baby who I just got to sleep. That's absolutely not happening. The fact that I could tell them the order and it was one they had tried to fix once made me feel like they should try to help in some way. We used to love coming here. We get it that covid meant they were drive-thru only for a while, but we're long since past that when you look at every other establishment in Mt. Juliet. We got a hankering for Steak N Shake tonight, looked up this locations hours online and saw that they were open til 10, and made our way over. The sign on the door said drive thru only, which was no problem. We went to it and there were cones blocking it. We went back to the door which said the hours were 10-10 and we saw people inside who ignored us. I called and someone answered and I said I was confused about all the signs and not being able to get service. The guy said how there were only 2 of them there so they had to close. I started saying how I understood it's hard to find help but that... and he just flat out hung up on me. My husband and I have both worked our fair share of retail, etc. We get it that you want to get home. But the hours are 10-10; and at 9:30 you are not so slammed that two people can't handle a simple order at a fast food establishment. There's a difference between not being able to find help and your help bailing out early because they don't have the work ethic to serve the handful of people who roll through during the last hour of retail business. Absolutely HORRIBLE restaurant. Food was not good and service was even worse. I ordered a patty melt feeling like a delicious buttery crispy rye. It came on bread that was not even grilled. They may have stuck it on the grill but it was soft, not toasty or crispy as a party melt should be. The fries were way underdone. The service was not good either. Kristy was slow, not attentive, didn't ask if everything was ok, if we needed anything, or to refill our drinks. I had to yell across the restaurant after several minutes of waiting just to ask for the check. She then dropped it at the table without even looking at us or asking anything or even saying thank you. There was only 1 other table of people there which came in after us. When she dropped off our check the gentleman at that table said to her there was a spot on the table that was dirty/sticky, she said oh I know I've been trying to get it clean all day. Didn't even offer to move them to any of the other empty tables or even apologize for the issue. A really poorly run establishment.
