Every experience I've had at Towne Blvd SteakNShake has been a great one! I honestly think some of the previous reviews must be from a different location bc I just don't see it being here. Food is always made rught, fresh, hot, delicious.... Always clean as you'd expect a restaurant to be..... When I order inside on the kiosk and it doesn't offer the modifications I want (like sub the regular bun for grilled sour dough) I have either just let the staff know immediately after ordering or if it's something that cost extra they have come up to take my order at the front register when asked. (Such as the 7x7 burger not listed in kiosk). I've never had any problems here. I love Steak n Shake and am thrilled to have this one here! Highly recommend! AND NO SEED OILS! First off the food was actually ok and it was hot it was everything else that made us not to ever want to come back... The restaurant had a BO smell I couldn't tell if it was spoiled food in the overflowing trash cans (all four take your picks to the main offender), or perhaps the floors with dirty mop water giving the aroma of stale pee and two day old Coca-Cola, or possibly the highchair that was absolutely filthy we needed three wipes to clean before we'd think about putting our little one in, or something sinister coming from the kitchen... we didn't investigate as our noses were too offended. The staff seemed to hate their job... from the moment we walked in the lady yelled you have to place your own order they don't hire waitresses anymore... then between the F words and other explicit language coming from the back kitchen we definitely decided this isn't a place we'd like to visit again let alone with our little ones. Boyfriend & I went for dinner on a whim. Staff was rushing us through the drive thru just to have us sit in the parking lot & wait for our food to be walked out to us. Sat there for around 10 minutes before receiving our meal just to have one side of my Frisco melt completely untouched by the grill. Will not be returning. read more

I have great memories of Steak 'n Shake, like going to the one by amc when it was open. This place though... let's just get into the review. Me and my gf pulled up to a deserted parking lot, questioning if it's open, we park and decide to eat in. The diner looks like a ghost town. Main kiosk was broken, some lights off, no one inside besides 2-3 workers in the kitchen. We ordered our food hesitantly on the kiosk by the door. I went with a double steak burger, fries and chocolate milkshake. My gf went with a single, fries and Oreo milkshake. We sent our order in hoping someone got it, and searched for a seat. Almost all the tables were dirty. Found a booth clean enough to sit down and hit the bathroom to our wash hands. We waited patiently for someone to call a name or bring food over, in the meantime no one was maning the drink station, I still got a water, girl got a sprite. Not too long after we heard a "Kylee"! Cute little sandwhich and fries, both of the meals came out looking good to my surprise. The burger was a little small, nothing crazy, but judging a book by the cover here, It was better than I expected. Gf thought the same. She liked her milkshake a lot, I ate a couple bites then over thank it because if the dining room is messy and it looks almost abandoned, how well is the milkshake machine really cleaned? Not fair for me to make assumptions without knowing but the meal was not to bad. A couple kitchen staff and what I think was the manager came out and checked on us which was nice to see. She also started cleaning off the tables as we ate so maybe we inspired her. Actually shorty after we finished and chilled more people came so who knows, maybe there's a secret charm to this steak and shake after all. It's open now. took my kids there today. it was after a snow but the parking lot was ice. dangerous. wasn't a fan of the kiosk but I get it. it's the world today. but the manager was completely rude. the staff was telling her customer needs and she said multiple times that she didn't care. she wasn't feeling it today and she just didn't care. the cook and food was amazing. the manger slung the food on the counter and just yelled a name. the cook took it upon himself to help carry the food to the table and could tell he was embarrassed by the managers behavior. he even said something to her at one time and she said "I said I don't care". but like I said cook and food was amazing. And he greeted every single person that walked in and provided great customer service despite his supervisor. Well after the let down at Applebee's I decided on drive thru at Stake and Shake. Ordered a double cheese burger and a vanilla shake. Was informed the shake machine was down. So part of the business name was false. The window guy vaped while he took orders at the window and though I could not read the tatthis knuckles, I don't believe they were gang related. I just witnessed a couple being terrible and disrespectful to the staff. They were short staffed tonight and let the customer know that. Instead they threatened lawsuits and wanted their meal compensated. While waiting they tried to cause drama with other customers.. This Steak and Shake is one of the worst I've ever seen. The drive through is extremely slow, the inside service is even slower, and the building is deplorable. Look at the pictures I posted for details but here are the highlights: - The menus are literally falling apart - The seats are destroyed - The floor is GROSS with what I hope is only grease Oh, and no joke - since they brought peanut butter back for their milk shakes I've been there 4 times and they've been out of peanut butter EVERY TIME. I like S&S food, I like their shakes, but this place needs completely remodeled and the staff needs to be trained to be quicker! read more

Steak and shakes are pretty uniform across the board in food taste and quality but the service in this particular location is pretty terrible. Our french fries were cold, and our food took a very, very long time to arrive at our table. The restaurant itself seemed clean, with the exception of the bathroom, which would have ruined anyone's apetite. Yuck! I will most likely avoid this location in the future. read more

Stopped by to grab a late dinner. Had to send my drink back twice to get with no ice. Worker found talking to her co-worker about bs more important than talking to me. Get home to a sandwich that wasn't even put together and half empty container of fries. I call to talk to manager which isn't on shift. I get told to return with my food for a remake but please hurry as they close soon as not enough night shift workers. Went to this Steak N Shake the other day, pulled into the drive through with no one even in line. Get told without even a greeting, "It will be 15 minutes before you can order." Then nothing when I asked why, drive around expecting to see a line and there was nothing. Parked my car figure it be faster to go inside. Talking with a friend about it being a 15 minute wait with no reason, as several other customers are walking out & saying it is going to take longer. So I asked why and they said, "No clue the staff is refusing to serve anyone." Go inside and at least 8 employees are standing about doing absolutely nothing. I see several on their phones with only 2 tables with people sitting there eating & what looks like someones friends just hanging out at the counter chit chatting with several servers. Get told it will be a 40 minute wait and ask to talk to a manager. What I get was a girl/kid thats not even a manager who was one of several playing on her phone behind the counter. Never got a reason from her about the wait times and asked for the managers number or a number I could call. They gave nothing, just a bunch of lazy teenagers not wanting to work with no actual management in the whole place or one grown adult. Never returning there again. read more

I've posted 4 photos of the dirty floor & molding lemons that were on the drink station that they were refilling everyone's drinks on. The server, Jenn, started off good but once the food came out she disappeared,& messed up our order. No napkins,no silverware,& no refills. The food is good if you can get it. I travel a lot and I really like Steak N Shake but I have attempted to eat here 3 times. The first two times I waited for a very long time for my food. The service was terrible. The third time I walked out after waiting 15 minutes to even have a waitress come to the table. I counted 4 waitresses and a manager. last time I try food from here. took my mom for sandwich and shake. for one thing they never .. EVER bring the shake and food at same time. Your half done and they finally bring the other part of our order. mom ordered little slider burgers and I got the spicy chicken ... my chicken was surrounded by grissel. her burger .. wasn't a small patty but a tiny broken off piece of mean. The tiny buns where about 2 inches in diameter and the supposed burger was about 1 centimeter. You couldn't even see there was anything on the bun without looking inside. The service tends to be slow but you can't beat the price of $3.99 for a made to order cheeseburger with fresh toppings of your choice. The shoestring fries that come with it are ok but I prefer fatter Texas style french fries. I usually substitute the onion rings for the fries since I like them a lot better. The shakes are pretty good, especially if you get them at the happy hour price (2-5 M-F). One of the best things about eating here is that you can use their coupons & save a significant amount of $ - 4 stars for being a restaurant I can afford to take my family to on a weekly basis! read more

The past 3 times I've tried to eat here I've had to leave without eating. My wife works second shift and sometimes I wait for her to get off work before eating dinner. At around midnight there are very few options in Middletown when it comes to food at that hour. It is very clear that the restaurant has poor management. No matter what day of the week it is, at that hour the service is atrocious. My wife and I walked in, waited there for at least 5 minutes while servers and cooks avoided eye contact with us. Nobody said a word until my wife said loudly "We've been standing here at least 5 minutes and nobody has bothered to even look at us!" Then a waitress came over and seated us while giving a disclaimer that they have been busy all night and please be patient. We waited patiently for about 20 minutes. During this time there was an argument amongst the employees because someone had seated people at another customer's table while they had gotten up for a minute. And a woman who looked like Brittney Spears on crack had a toddler who was screaming the whole time. It is 12:30am by this time. We had been there 30 minutes and nobody had even bothered to take our drink orders yet. We opted to drive across town to Burger King instead. I won't be going back to this particular Steak N Shake. Update: I finally got my picky kids to agree to try a hamburger. And since Steak N Shake has the thinnest burgers I can think of it sounded like a good option. This time we went at around 8:30 on a Sunday evening. The place was packed (what a surprise). We waited at least 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we were standing there (that seems to be standard operating procedure at this location). Finally someone seated us and gave us menus. She said our server would be by to take our order shortly. At least 15 minutes later the same girl who seated us came over and said "I guess it looks like I'll be your server this evening". I think she wasn't even supposed to be serving people but nobody else was doing it so she stepped up. We placed our order and she brought our drinks. We waited. We sat and talked with our kids while we waited. After a considerable amount of time (probably more than 30 minutes), we realized that almost all of the tables were now vacant. Everyone that came in after us had already been served and here we sat with no food. I start looking at our server (who was now helping another set of customers that had just come in). I was waiting for her to make eye contact so that I could get her attention instead of shouting out at her. She made eye contact for a millisecond and quickly looked away, pretending that she didn't see me (so she wouldn't have to deal with me while she was in the middle of a bunch of other things). I look around and notice that EVERY OTHER EMPLOYEE (at least 6 of them) are just standing around relaxing, doing literally nothing while our server is running around doing everything (including cashing people out at the register). Finally my wife says to the server, "Excuse me, do you know how much longer it's going to be?" And the server checks, only to find out that our food is ready. Obviously the food had been ready for quite some time but she was so busy she forgot about us. And all of the other employees were too lazy to help her out in any way. So we were in the restaurant at least 30 minutes longer than we should have been because I know our food was ready to be served for that long (we were there at least 45 minutes before getting our food). This place is the worst run restaurant I've ever seen. If I were the manager I would fire everyone except the server that took care of us. It wasn't her fault that the rest of the employees do as little as possible, leaving her with the bulk of the work. I'm sure it is a constant nightmare for her, working with a group of bums like that. Either way, I'm never going back to this place. For real this time. I'll drive 2 towns away to the next Steak & Shake if I ever feel like having a steakburger again. read more

I ended up leaving and going through the drive thru where they couldn't understand the simplest orders and apparently can't count because he didn't give me the correct change after I paid. We have gotten cold food there more than a few times. We gave it one more try on Nov. 17th and waited forever for our food, only to get mostly cold food once again. The server said she'd get us fresh fries and never returned to our table. Our burgers were not fresh either and nearly cold. All of the food had been sitting for quite some time before being served to us. Some of the servers were socializing with each other and laughing and there seemed to be zero management control - if there was a manager present. We've heard that this location has serious problems keeping a manager. We would definitely suggest visiting another location if you have a hankering for Steak & Shake food. read more

The waitress was incredibly friendly and fast and absolutely kicked ass and you could tell she genuinely cared. The food was good and fresh too! Went through the drive-through to pick up a single steak cheeseburger. The sandwich as usual was quite good but the service as usual was quite slow. It took about 15 minutes to get through the drive-through. I would come here much more often if the service was faster. Absolutely the worst service I have ever had at a steak n' shake. There were two girls waitressing and several people behind the counter with only one person cooking. The two girls waitressing seemed to be all over the place but everybody else behind the counter was standing around. I even heard one of the waitresses say that she needed help and the guy cooking asked her what she needed help with because there was only a single burger being prepared. Ridiculous because the waitresses were clearly overwhelmed. Nearly all of the tables in the place were dirty and had not been cleaned off when I went in and pretty much stayed that way for the rest of my visit. It took nearly 15 minutes to come over to get my order and then another 5 to 10 minutes to bring my iced tea. I had also ordered a chocolate banana milkshake and a burger with fries. The food eventually came out and they had said they were behind on the milkshakes, but a young couple that came in after me got their milkshakes and drinks before I was even a quarter of the way into my food. My milkshake finally came out as I was cleaning up my dishes and had finished my meal. I was actually getting ready to leave when the snake came out. Went to take a drink and noticed some black stuff across the top on the whipped cream. It look like a bug or possibly something off the grill that had gotten on there so I asked them to take it off. The cashier said that it may have been an Oreo but I never ordered Oreos in my Shake. Now while I realize there may be a station in the back and it could have accidentally gotten in, I really had no idea what it was for sure and I wasn't going to eat it to chance it. I come to this area for work quite a bit and I will never come back into this place. Corporate needs to fire the current manager & hire someone who actually gives a shit.
