After a long day and a full meal elsewhere, we decided to stop here for a quick dessert. I ordered an Oreo shake, but instead of the creamy, Oreo-filled treat I expected, I was handed what was essentially a vanilla shake with a light dusting of Oreo crumbs. The taste was pretty much pure vanilla, with only the faintest hint of Oreo. Hoping they'd make it right, I went inside to politely ask for a fix, but the staff seemed visibly annoyed by my request. Without causing a fuss, I decided to just take the shake and go, though I couldn't help but feel disappointed--not only by the shake itself but by how they handled a simple request for correction. Adding to the frustration, I noticed they had recently mopped the floors but hadn't put up a wet floor sign. I nearly slipped on my way out, which just added another negative to the experience. This is not how customers should be treated, and it's not the standard of quality I'd expect for even a quick dessert stop. I'm not sure if this is their usual level of service or just an off day, but it left a poor impression. Absolutely TERRIBLE!!!!! Order a burger thinking "butter burger" is a normal burger (like if you go to Culver's and order a burger, it's called butter burger) with only cheese, bacon, and tomato. It comes out and has onions and a thick glob of white stuff. Take a bite, spit it out, right as someone was walking by asking how it was. Tell them it's disgusting with a huge glob of white nastiness, they say they'll make another one and take receipt. Some rude lady comes over saying that's butter, we show her the thick glob and she's like mmhmm... walks away and doesn't give receipt back, nor makes another burger. No one wants to eat a partial stick of butter. Other people with us and they haven't even received their food yet waiting 20mins already and no one in the place. Not even the shake!!! read more

My wife and I ate at this location today, and the food was great, but the customer service was terrible. You have to use a Kios to order your food, no cashier, no personal customer service. You have to scan your bar code from your receipt to be able to get your drinks. I saw people struggling to use the Kios. They did have an employee helping the ones struggling but a customer shouldn't have to struggle to get their food or drinks. What happened to true customer service? I used the app to order and pay for my food. The app says to park in a marked spot and that my order will be out in 10 minutes. I parked in a spot and waited 15 minutes without anyone bringing my food. I called the store and they said I need to come thru the drive thru. I explained that the app said the order would be brought out but the employee said that they don't want to come out and I need to go thru the drive thru. Had I not paid for my order I would have left but I waited for 12 minutes to place my order in the drive thru and 8 minutes to get my food. The establishment? Warm, inviting, comfortable, and nostalgic. The food? YES. The burger patties are thin so if you get a double stack, you'll still be able to bite the burger like a same person. The salt 'n vinegar fries are GOOD, okay? I love salt 'n vinegar so these were a very pleasant addition to my meal. The chili has steak and beans in it and is yummy. The double fudge brownie shake was the real MVP. Two burgers, two fries (salt 'n vinegar and parmesan), two sodas, two shakes to go. Total: @12.59. Went by the Steak and Shake in Decatur on Spring Ave SW Sunday. Placed my order at drive thru and in front of me was a Ford Flex and I could see that a older lady was driving and she had a full load of people in her SUV. The young man come to the window several times dealing with this lady, finally she got several bags and I'm thinking she will leave. I have been waiting 10 mins by now. Someone in the back give her a bag she continue to get someone to the window, after another 5 mins a lady come to the window and continue to try and sort out this problem. This location is pretty consistent. I've dined in several times. Service is not particularly quick or outstanding but it's not bad either. It's a pretty good value - pretty cheap burgers that are decent quality and pretty tasty too.
