I made the longer drive and wasn't sure about the place from the outside of the building. Didn't look like anything special. I was greeted as soon as I entered by two different people. A woman, I'm guessing an owner, helped me find a snorkel set for an upcoming trip. She didn't try to upsell me a bunch of things I didn't need but did give me outstanding advice on a thing or two that would make my snorkeling much better. She even offered to keep the mask for a few days and apply anti-fog something-or-other a few times! I was thoroughly impressed. I would whole-heartedly recommend this shop!

And it was certainly well worth the $75 I paid to refamiliarize myself with the gear, mask clearing etc. I feel a lot more confident for my next dive, since it will be the first time in several years. It took me about 2 hours to do that. On the other hand, I feel the company is a bit lacking in communication skills. I had to block out 7AM-2PM when I really only need 2 hours for a refresher. I paid up front when I booked but no day was scheduled so I was in limbo for over a month wondering if this would work out for a refresher for my trip. The emails said we needed a bunch of gear and we could "buy" them from the company. The emails did not include specific information for refresher course that would have helped me, such as "don't worry about this form but please fill out form x and y. I think what they meant is "rent". The instructor for the refresher course was competent but dour. Finally, the main instructor showed up 40 minutes late after we all turned up at 7AM. So I think they can get the job done but it may be a slightly chaotic experience. Nice people though.

(My immediate thought was...shouldn't you be in a back room/break area to do that??) One employee said hey. I guessed the area I needed to look but couldn't find anything. What I like is the amount to choose from! They don't limit what sports teams they have. The staff is very knowledgeable in when items come in. I was looking for KC Royals hats in a larger size and they could tell me when the new stock was coming in 3 months out. They have a huge assortment of novelty items. Lots of hats to choose from. They even have some custom signs and 3d cut outs of football fields. It's an excellent spot to pick something up for a gift.

We walked around to look for the boots at other stores for about an hour, and after we couldn't find them, we came back to see if we could get some help a second time. Stood around for another 10 minutes this time, before leaving again to find them at Jordan Creek. To no avail, we came back to the store a third time. We stood around for 5 minutes and we were *finally* able to grab someone. When we waved him over, there was no greeting, just "what?". Absolutely ridiculous. We bought the boots because we couldn't even find the same color online, and we'd done our fair share trying to find a similar style/brand elsewhere today. After this, we'll never be back.

Finally after pulling teeth one of them went to the back, I asked the other one how his day was going, and he kinda was staring into space and didn't even realize I was talking to him! HELLO am I invisible in here or what! Finally the other guy came out, and naturally the largest options they had were 11 1/2! I have wore adidas shoes in a size 12 since I was a freshman in high school I knew that is what I needed and these were not going to work. The guy kinda scoffed off when I said it was a no go. Bummed they didn't have my size, as the shoes were cool and at a great price, but man that service was not nice!

Of course we don't have the receipt anymore because she's worn them and intended to keep them. We tried to return them to Dick's. They won't take back worn shoes, that's their policy. I get that policy, but these are clearly damaged, we're not just trying to return them, we need defect free shoes. So we were told to call adida to have the warrant taken care of. I called Adidas and they need a receipt to return them. I had to communicate with her parents across the pond, to get a copy of the bank statement for date, time and dollar amount. All that is in Spanish format, so I had to calculate euros to dollars, and figure out the time difference. I called the store back to find out I had to call corporate. I finally got a copy of the receipt. Then have to call Adidas back to file a claim. What a cluster F***. Do better Dick's. I won't be shopping there again. Scheels it is.

A 10.5 ft Viper kayak (used a couple of times) and a kayak cart (still new in box). I decided to take both into Play It Again Sports. I didn't really want to deal with selling them privately on eBay (local pick up), Craigslist, or FB Marketplace. Play It Again Sports is the only place I know of to sell stuff like this other than a normal consignment shop (Stuff Etc. or a different place like that). If you are a seller they will give you cash or in store credit. The in store credit offer will be more than the cash offer. The kayak was purchased for $240ish new a few years ago. The gentlemen I was dealing with at Play It Again Sports said they'd sell it for around $100... Offered me $50 The kayak cart was purchased for $40. Was still new in box... They said they'd give me $7 If you don't mind the back and forth messages with possible buyers. People lowballing you. Having to arrange to meet someone...who may or may not show up, etc. Selling privately might be a better option for you... As far as putting the maximum amount of cash in your pocket...selling privately is definitely going to be the better way to go Like I said... I didn't want to deal with the hassle of selling these privately so I took their offer. At least it paid for dinner that night for my son and I... So you know what to expect... As a buyer you can probably plan on getting a used item for half off new retail. Maybe less if the item has been sitting for a LONG time. As a seller Play It Again Sports is probably going to sell your used item for half of new retail, and offer you half of that in cash (25%ish of new retail). It's a great resource to have to get rid of unneeded sports items. You at least get a little money back v. donating the items to Goodwill, etc. To wrap things up... I found the staff here to be polite and great to work with. I dropped in with no call ahead and the process was simple and easy. If you have sports equipment to get rid of maybe slide in and check them out... Doesn't cost you anything but time. Don't like the offer you can always say no and choose to go in another direction.
