A Wonderful Experience with Edan - Cosmelan Peel for Melasma on Dark Skin…read more
I had the pleasure of finding Edan after searching online for the Cosmelan peel to treat my melasma. I had the treatment over five years ago at another spa and was thrilled with how much it improved my dark spots and uneven skin tone. After seeing those results, I knew I wanted to try it again.
I was surprised by how many salons pushed laser treatments to me when I called to inquire about the Cosmelan peel. Several told me the peel took too long to heal and that lasers offered a faster recovery. However, as a woman with darker skin, I understand that certain laser treatments can potentially worsen hyperpigmentation. I wanted someone who understood my skin and would listen to my concerns rather than push a service I didn't need.
While searching online, I found Edan and was so happy to discover a spa in San Antonio that still offered the Cosmelan peel. From our initial consultation, I knew I was in good hands. She listened to my concerns, discussed the potential risks of lasers for my skin, and took the time to explain what I could expect throughout the process.
Edan applied the initial treatment in the office and guided me through the aftercare process. She explained that everyone's skin reacts differently and reminded me not to overapply the products. I had shared photos from my previous Cosmelan experience, when my skin peeled and shed dramatically, but she explained that my reaction this time might be different. She reassured me that even if I didn't experience the same amount of peeling, the treatment could still be working.
After applying Cosmelan 1 in the office, I began using Cosmelan 2 seven days later, and the shedding began. I will admit that I experienced more discomfort this time around, but I followed the aftercare guidance and used the Melanin Recovery product as directed to help care for my skin.
Throughout the process, I shared photos of my progress with Edan, and I appreciated being able to communicate with her along the way. I also took several photos to document my journey because I want other potential clients to understand that the process can have some rough days before the skin begins to look and feel better.
Day by day, I noticed my skin becoming smoother, tighter, and brighter. I included a before-and-after comparison showing the improvement in my complexion. Honestly, I had almost forgotten what my face looked like without so much darkness and so many spots! Being able to look in the mirror and see a more even complexion again has been incredibly rewarding.
For me, this treatment was worth the investment, especially with my wedding anniversary weekend approaching. I felt so much better seeing the progress in my skin and knowing that I was finally addressing the dark spots that had bothered me for so long.I also understand that as we age, maintaining our results requires ongoing care. I plan to return to Edan to continue addressing my melasma and maintaining my complexion.
What impressed me most about Edan was her honesty and professionalism. She was the only professional I encountered who didn't try to upsell me or convince me to purchase a service I didn't need. I had previously spent money on a VI Peel that didn't give me the results I was looking for with my melasma, so finding someone who took the time to understand my concerns was refreshing.
If you are African American or have darker skin and are struggling with melasma or stubborn dark spots, I highly recommend consulting with Edan. Everyone's skin is different, and results can vary, but I'm sharing my personal experience because I know how frustrating it can be to find the right treatment for hyperpigmentation on darker skin.
Thank you, Edan, for listening, educating me, and guiding me through this journey. I'm so happy I found you just in time for my wedding anniversary weekend.
