This includes deep sea oil platforms. It was amazing how the machines harvest the crude oil below. It also recorded the failure and burn down of the oil platforms. To be perfectly honest, I came to this museum for one reason alone, fresh sprats on Thursdays. Of course the history of printing and canning is fun. They go into real depth and there are many interesting and interactive displays. We had a great time making a rudimentary book and playing the game to match labels to sardine cans. The place is set up a bit like an actual cannery from the past and you are allowed to touch MANY of the items and machinery. I mean I turned around and saw my husband pretending the wash down the floors. He was really into the canning process. But back to those sprats... We rounded a corner and a cute older man was standing there with a metal rod of perfectly roasted sprats (little fish part of the herring family). We pulled them off the rod and ate them fresh and hot. They were so delicious, I had to stop myself from going back to get a couple hundred more. I'm so glad we ended up here on a Thursday. The other amazing part of this museum was that there was a whole list of other museums we had free or discounted entry in now because of the admission to this one. It's a great deal if you're into museums.

There is a small gift shop that will sell sardines and associated copies of vintage ephemera. I think this would be best visited for families, when there is a tour. Why? Because there is a bit of hands on demonstration that kids could join. And because of this, I would do the visit without a tour and take your time. With children, I'd make sure to join an available tour. Takes anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours if you get start watching films or join a demonstration or two.

The location allows people who are taking a stroll around the lake to make a pitstop for a coffee or a waffle, so the café can be full even if the museum is empty. In summer they also put café tables outside!. They also have a museums shop. It is small but sells very nice things and offers a selection of cool books!
